I have recently become a certified Red Cross volunteer as Disaster Action Team in Central Florida…read more When one thinks about the Red Cross, usually mass disasters, such as hurricanes or earthquakes come to mind; however the Red Cross does FAR more than that for the community. The Red Cross responds to local disasters on a daily basis, such as house fires, which occur many times a day in Greater Central Florida. Teams respond with compassion, care, and assistance for those impacted by a disaster. Working with multiple agencies, the Red Cross makes sure that victims of disaster are set up with immediate care for temporary housing, food, counseling and so much more. This local chapter in Orlando has an amazing team in place, balancing logistics, client care, volunteers and also offers a plethora of courses to the community in a variety of fields, such as certification for CPR/First Aid and more. The road to becoming a certified volunteer is rigorous and there are many courses to complete, but so very worth the time invested. This local chapter is so well managed and truly worthy of a 5 star rating. If you find yourself in need of assistance, please reach out to the Red Cross. If you are looking for a great place to volunteer, the Red Cross will help you find a good 'fit' for what you are looking to do. Hands on disaster response was my choice, but there are a great many areas that are needed to support the operation in administration areas, hospitality areas and more. Please contact the Red Cross now if you wish to become a volunteer and you will be trained and ready when the need arises for activation of volunteers.

This is a nightmare of a school. It is the cheapest option and accelerated, but DO NOT ATTEND. I…read morecannot speak on the quality of the other programs, but if you were considering OTC for surgical technology...run far away! The surgical tech program here only gives you the AST certification...not an AS degree or the national board certification that most hospitals and surgical centers look at for their new hires. Besides that, my instructor MELISSA RODRIGUEZ was extremely unprofessional, lazy, and more childish than most of the students attending the program. She would gossip about all of the students and if you did not try to be best friends with her and kiss her butt every second of the day, she would turn incredibly rude and give you no guidance whatsoever. There were so many things that I needed to learn that she never showed the class. A month before my lab final she excluded me from practicing in the OR with her simply because she had negative, personal feelings towards me. I witnessed her enabling cheating from my other classmates and the list of unprofessionalism just goes on and on... Unfortunately, the director of the program, TIMOTHY LAMB seems to protect her unprofessional behaviors instead of doing the right thing by the students and hiring a much better, and qualified instructor. The social environment of the program, and especially my own classroom became so toxic to me that I made the decision to withdraw halfway through this program in order to protect my mental health. If OCPS knows what's good for them and the success of the attending students, they would do a complete overhaul of the surgical technology department. I am currently enrolled to start a much better program at another school in the near future. I can't say I didn't receive SOME type of learning experience from my time there! Now, onto better and more positive experiences.

Yes, the cost is cheap but DAMN is the professionalism lacking! The admissions office NEVER answers…read morethe phone! There is absolutely no sense of urgency at alI when they have to complete something on their end. The website is super sketchy. I graduated there in 2019 and I have lost out on 2 jobs because they couldn't get a hold of these people to verify my course completion. Even taking into consideration the lowest of the low price, this school follow through and customer service is a freakin' joke. I can't speak on curriculum for every course obviously but for the nursing course the quality of the instruction you get is questionable honestly.

AdventHealth University is a terrible neighbor. They have housing in the College Park neighborhood…read moreand should work on their outreach and communication with that community, especially when housing facility issues have negative impacts on their neighbors. I reached out with multiple emails and voicemails over a two-week period and have still heard nothing back from them weeks later. Getting an actual person on the line is near impossible. Training individuals to save lives is noble, but overlooking those you live among is ignorant.

The Good: [1] This college is a small but modern campus that's been recently renovated. Many of the…read morestudents are required to purchase laptops for their professional programs, so wireless internet is widely available, and the classrooms are equipped with plenty of places to plug in at each seating area. [2] The atmosphere is Christian, so you don't see a whole lot of outlandish things on campus. [3] The cafe serves a delicious selection of items from the grill, fresh sushi and salads, snacks, and a wide selection of hot and cold beverages. [4] The teachers are warm people who have worked in their job field before teaching the topic. [5] Parking is available off campus accommodated by a shuttle which takes you to the school. There are never any parking wars here! The Bad: [1] It's a tad more pricey than your public colleges being a private school, but its worth it. [2] The nursing student clinical uniforms are horrid, but then again, which school has fashionable ones? The Ugly: [1] The financial aid office is a b*tch to deal with. They never have your money on time, there is always an error, a delay, or an issue with semething, and it seems as if they are always eating instead of working. Maybe that's what the problem is. Ugh.
