In a cute beautiful town and exactly at the charming historical downtown Culpepper! There are Thyme market , The Copper Fish , It's all about Thyme and the Thyme inn! A Cafe, Seafood restaurant, fine dine restaurant and a small beautiful inn!! In 3 buildings and an alley between them you find all that charm and goodness!! One building has the Seafood place (The Copper Fish) , another building has the café (Thyme market) and the inn (Thyme inn) then the other building has the restaurant (It's all about Thyme!) I tried the café (Thyme market) which has sandwiches, wraps, paninis , hot food items and fresh wood fire pizza! Also they have pastries, wonderful desserts and hot & cold drinks! I'll repeat that WONDERFUL homemade desserts!! It's not the time for your low sugar , low calories or low-whatever diet!! Lol The variety is amazing and you will take a long time to decide which one you can get specially if you live far from there like me! :) Staff was friendly and welcoming! Excellent service!! 5 STARS You can enjoy the Copper Fish menu and the Thyme market menu at the magical Alley!! I loved that Alley which is covered (so it's good for rainy weather) , has beautiful lights and fans for the summer, heaters for winter! Small speakers for music .. I only wished if they were playing French music, Jazz or Tango !! It would've been great with that atmosphere! I'd definitely go back and try more items! I live an hour away 55 miles but I'll come back specially for that charming place!! Conclusion: It's the best thing in this town! Go try it! :)

Just me being silly

A great find with some good food and atmosphere. Even in a chilly day the alley is a spot less crowded. Crab nachos and crab pizza for the win. Deliciousness. Friendly staff all around.

Also the other one had something burnt no idea what that crap is

Update tried this place again and got under cooked bottom of pizza. Come on man !! Also all the pies were under done on the bottom and one had some sort of burnt debris under it. Yuck !

The Thyme Market has been around since '07 and is owned by the Yarnall family. The restaurant (located next door) relocated from Philly and opened its location in Culpeper back in '95, offering European fare. This market offers take-out sandwiches, entrees, breads, desserts, seasonings, sauces, marinades, and other various spreads and such to add to your meals. I tried the Culpeper Crack at a friend's dinner get-together, and I knew I had to get my hands on some tubs! This spread is ridiculously addicting - thick, creamy, chive-y, salty, cheddar-y - super delicious!!! They have their housemade thin crispy flat breads with some house seasonings that pair greatly with it, but I prefer it with the Triscuits. Super yummy and great as appetizers or as snacks! They have 3 tub sizes, and while it's a little pricey, it's worth the trek over to Culpeper to stock up on these (just get the Party Size - it's still not enough!). Besides stocking up on the spread, I'd love to go back and try out their wood-fried pizzas. Staff are super friendly here! +Culpeper Crack! :D +housemade flatbreads +friendly staff +located next to It's About Thyme +ample street parking

The Thyme market is a great lunch spot. We ate there today before beginning the Holiday House Tour. Our group ordered a wood fired pizza, lump crab nachos, and an open face crap pretzel. Everything was delicious. If you've never had it, the Better Cheddar is a must. It's also known as "Culpeper crack." On Mondays, they run a pizza special. They do have heaters outside if it's a little chilly as several of the tables are outdoors in between the market and the cafe.

This is a really cool market serving some great food and also has a lot of interesting jams/sauces/salsas that you can buy for enjoying later! This place was recommended to us by the folks at Old House Vineyards and we were so glad that they did! Their pizzas are a steal on the $5 mondays and we got a couple salads to go along with their margherita pizza to share among the 4 of us! Overall, this place is great for grabbing some delicious pizza and sipping a cold one on their outdoor seating area :)

Everything was delicious. Best stumble-upon spot we've had in years!

I wasn't impressed with Thyme Market. I think the pizza was burned and the desserts tasted like they were "day old"

No Frills - Just Good Meat…read more This is a farm. Hence, the name. On this farm they raise bison, and they sell the meat. They have a store. This is a review of the store. This is not your charming country store with homemade jams and handmade Halloween decorations. They had some bison hide wallets. A horn you could buy for $20. But 90% of this place is freezers filled with bison meat. They have ground beef, hot dogs, sausages and some type of beef jerky or something, but the highlight are the steaks and roasts. They sell various parts of the animal including t-bones, ribeyes, I think I saw a porterhouse, sirloin, ribs, oso buco, loin and other parts. Precious loves the oso buco which is hard to find even for cow meat. The prices are VERY VERY reasonable. Compare these prices to online delivery bison meat, and, I mean, forget about it. The prices are much lower. In addition to the onsite store, they have a drop-off place in Arlington, VA if you live near there and don't want to take a road trip. They also have an excellent website describing the farm and meat sales.

My daughter and her dad, and I, ate an early dinner at Grass Rootes Saturday afternoon…read more We were seated quickly and with a smile. Appetizer: lamb lollipops (3), delicious. Very tender. Entrees: daughter-bacon cheeseburger w/fries. Her dad- 1 lb of Cajun Shrimp. Me. Southwest Salad with a big Salmon added for extra $10. It was worth it and we all agreed, I scored the best dish at the table. It was delicious! (Said everyone). The waitresses were very attentive. So much so, we had 3 different waitresses asking for our order once already ordered. 3 waitresses asking do we need anything else. 3 waitresses asking if we're good. After we paid, another waitress came over and asked us if we were ready to pay. We dismissed the confusion and waved off all the drama but really, though, every waitress who addressed us everytime, was a Lot, all of those women, everytime, had smiles on their faces and were happy that we were good to go. We did enjoy our time there. Food was great.

Stopped by Grass Rootes on a Friday afternoon and everything we had was really great!…read more We started with the antipasto board to share which was a great blend of cheeses and a couple meats. The pickled(?) carrots were a great touch! I had a bowl of the chicken tortilla soup of the day along with the Caesar salad. I loved the salad's bread crumbs. I'm pretty sure they were made from rosemary bread, and that crunch was amazing! My mom got the Reuben special and said it was delicious, too. Definitely a solid spot if you're looking for a great lunch around town. Can't wait to go back for dinner soon.

I stop in here for coffee just about every time I go to Culpepper! Yesterday I was disappointed!…read more Instead of making my own sandwich, I decided to pay someone else to make it for me. I ordered the smoked salmon on a bagel and tip them 33% (happy to have someone else make my lunch) They asked what I wanted on it. And then brought a plate with everything spread out on the plate. I had to spread the cream cheese, place the capers, the lettuce, the tomato's, the salmon.., I had to make my own freaking sandwich!!! I got my hands messy in the process then had to go wash my hands before eating the sandwich that "I" made. The sandwich was very good. I just ask that you make it for me. Please!! People go out so that they don't have to fix their own!!! Please take this to heart and make a change Thank you

The deli sucks but checker Chris is outstanding…read more Went in to get some groceries for an outdoor class I was attending the next two days. Headed to the deli for cold cuts and was next in line as a young black dude helped a customer and a large black man (a manager) spoke to him and a female worker. The young man handed the patron in front of me their order. He looked me straight in the eye as I approached to tell him what I wanted and without a word- he TURNED AND WALKED AWAY! He went to a sink in the rear of the deli and started washing something. The manager clown kept bumping his gums and the girl responded and the (now) dish washer nodded. I however, remained unacknowledged. After the manager stopped quacking, the girl finally came up to me and asked my order only to be interrupted by the buffoon manager. It took me close to 10 minutes to get a few slices of turkey!!! Beyond unacceptable. I was literally constructing a one star Yelp review in my mind as I prepared to pay for my selections. I unloaded my basket and was greeted by an effusively friendly employee, Chris. He asked if I found everything I needed and rather than complaining about the idiots in the deli I asked where to grab a steak in town. Chris rattled off a couple of his favourite spots describing the pros and cons of each. He then asked another checker who also opined. I took Chris' advice and went to the PIEDMONT STEAK HOUSE and it was just how he described it, expensive but really good. When I came by the next evening to get some almonds, Chris remembered me and asked where I ended up going. I was blown away! I thanked him and told him that he had nailed The Piedmont. He went on to recommend a couple of other places to dine in Culpepper including a group of food trucks. Just goes to show that one good employee can make all the difference. Kudos Chris, you're a customer service NINJA! The deli still blows.
