London fog and peanut butter square
Laura W.

Met a colleague here for lunch and a work session. We got sandwiches, drinks, a peanut butter square and headed upstairs. It was my first time here in years and I always hear great things. On a busy Saturday it's too bad they don't prepare the sandwiches fresh. I chose the turkey croissant sandwich and she got the salmon cream cheese with cucumber sandwich. She enjoyed her sandwich and has had it many times. I found mine a bit dry, it would be great with a homemade pesto or garlic aioli or something like that. The peanut butter square was amazing. Very sweet but the texture was great. I'm glad we shared it though. My London fog was enjoyable. It didn't really stand out for me. They have wifi and it was nice and bright upstairs. I would go back and try their soup or other sandwiches. All their desserts look amazing.

I haven't changed my star rating here, but I did spend a significant amount of time here today, and thought it warranted an update from 2012! My sister, Laura B and I were strolling through Westoboro today when she remarked that she'd never been to Thyme and Again, and I was shocked, and immediately dragged her in. The place was crowded, both on the outside patio (people love double digits in Ottawa!) and in the inside cafe area. We got in line at the sandwich counter and were met with a ton of delicious decisions. I opted for the grilled cheese with guacamole and tomato on the gluten-free bread. My sister went for the chicken quesadillas. The chef let us know our order would take a little while and we were welcome to pay. On my way to the cash I checked out their beautiful counter full of treats. I got my sister a buttertart square and I had a vegan chocolate cherry brownie. I also grabbed a Harvey and Vern's cream soda, and while at the drink cooler notice they make their own salad dressings, dips and spreads - yum! While we were waiting we also browsed the store which has a ton of local products like soaps, candies, chocolates, candles and gifts. It's a locovore's dream! Our food was ready after about 10 minutes, and we were lucky enough to grab a table by the window. Both of us really enjoyed our food. Even the gluten-free bread was delicious! My sandwich was served with a scrumptious coleslaw that was flavoured with dill - YUM! It also came with a deli pickle which I gave to my sister. She really enjoyed her quesadillas as well, and our desserts were wonderful. The shop also has an upstairs sitting area that's beautiful and showcases local art. It's a much quieter atmosphere and a great spot to have conversations with friends. Westboro is so lucky to have this place, and in addition to all of this they also have a huge catering menu! If you haven't been here, you need to come.

Terrible service- have to ask for tables to be cleaned and the place is so cluttered and busy, it takes away from the no fuss balance it tries to strike. Aside from that the place is ok. Didn't try the sandwiches, soups or salads, but people seem to enjoy them. We had the lemonade and took some pastries to go. Lemonades were ok. The triple chocolate brownie was a bit too dry/flaky for me, but if you like that sorta thing... plus it was more sugar than chocolate, i hate that. But... I RECOMMEND- The lemon cheesecake. Omg. Omg. Oh my (poor) gut. EXTRA TIP- Even on a wednesday midday, this place gets busy so take it to go. But do check the upstairs patio.

Tofu wrap

This is the best best best place to go for a little catching up with an old friend date I came here today with my previous teacher, i had a delicious tofu vegan wrap for 8$ which i found to be a little steep for your basic wrap which is the only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5, it was delicious though so personally i think its worth it, but very small portions for what you pay for here. I like that theres a gallery upstairs, theres nick nacs you can buy throughout the shop, they seem to care about the environment & its in westboro which is the place to be, i will be back

Aurelius Fine Olive Oils and Balsamics - Inside the store

Aurelius Fine Olive Oils and Balsamics

TLDR: Fancy and expensive vinegars and oils. Tasty and worth the splurge…read more I had walked by Aurelius many times, as it's in my neighbourhood, but had never gone in. The store sells balsamic vinegars and olive oils in a variety of cool flavours such as Green Apple balsamic vinegar and Citrus Habanero olive oil. Their products are similar to those of The Unrefined Olive, which I have been to a few times. My husband and I received a gift card for Aurelius from a friend of ours for Christmas, so that's actually what brought us into the store. We ended up getting 3 small bottles ($8.99 each). They were 60ml bottles. The larger bottles are a better deal since you get 200ml for $17.99, but we wanted to try a greater variety of flavours. We got a Pear white balsamic, a Mango dark balsamic and a Smoked Hickory olive oil. The mango balsamic vinegar was sweet and full of potent mango flavour and aroma. The pear balsamic vinegar was just as good as the mango one. The pear flavour was strong. I would drizzle these on salads unadulterated, lol. No oil, no other spices, just the vinegar, and it made salads delicious. The Hickory smoked olive oil is phenomenal. It has a potent smokey aroma. I like adding it to roasted Brussels sprouts. It gives it that smokey flavour without having to add artery-clogging bacon, lol. Service was courteous and friendly. The store is a good size, but only the front section is accessible to customers. The back is for staff only. They had some nice displays at the front, with several packages ready for gifting. We walked over, but it's street parking only, which is not surprising for businesses in Wellington West. I would say that street parking is not that hard to find in the area, but you may have to park on a side street and walk over, and parking might be more difficult to find in the winter when the streets are narrowed by snow banks. I completed the order form asking for Delivery Dec 18. When I confirmed with my family they didn't receive it I called. I had all my info from the original order, I was abruptly told they don't deliver outside of Ottawa to a bedroom community. I said that would have been helpful information the month prior when they took my money. The person was rude and saying there aren't delivering at all in Dec. again then don't take orders. They did process the refund upon request but I doubt I would have unless I followed up. I would never use again! The server greeted me right away and asked if I wanted regular hot chocolate or spicy. I chose spicy (I love spicy anything)! It took maybe 10 minutes to make, which is a while, but you can browse the store in the meantime; the variety of chocolates was stunning! They also have 3 types of chocolate cakes you can purchase as slices. I chose to take it to go, but if you have the hot chocolate there, they are served in tall pretty glasses. The hot chocolate was piping hot, and quite rich; the spices really crept up on you, and made drinking it an interesting experience!

My husband loves their Jamaican beef patties, which are "homemade" as opposed to the highly processed stuff sold at supermarkets. I personally find them too greasy, but they are very flakey and filled with more meat than any other Jamaican beef patty I've ever seen! Their donuts are just ok, in my opinion, nothing remarkable. If you like European-style potato salads, I think you might like the potato salad at Piggy Market. The potatoes are firmer and it's less mayonnaise-y than North American potato salad. Their prepared meals are good to grab and go, but a bit pricey for what they are, in my opinion. For example, their vegetarian poke bowl is $14.50, which is about the same price as freshly prepared and customizable vegetarian bowls elsewhere. Pricing, aside, the food at Piggy Market is generally tasty. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The shop is on a side street off the main drag. It's right by Winston Square, so when the weather is nice, you can eat at Winston Square. Street parking only.

Over many, years my Jamaican born family members and I have scoured Ottawa-Gatineau, Miami and Jamaica looking for a Jamaican-style patty that can be described as 'nyam-ing' perfection. The Piggy Market delivers! How do they achieve this? I believe that it's all about their quality ingredients, mouth watering recipes, impactful blend of spices (flavourful heat) and a pastry shell that screams , "I am Jamaica Proud!" Today we visited for the first time and tried the Beef patties and Jerk Chicken patties. We're saving our next visit for Oxtail patties and any other patty menu items that we have yet to try. Every week The Piggy Market highlights a unique specialty patty on their menu. Note to the wise. Call in advance to find out what's available--what's on the patty menu that week.

The Long Version: I don't love Montreal smoked meat in general, but I do like the smoked meat sandwiches at Schwartz's in Montreal, so when Smoked Royale opened up in July 2025 not far from us, my husband and I decided to give them a try. The fact that they had a grand opening special where their smoked meat sandwiches were $9.99 instead of $14.99 sealed the deal, lol. We got a sandwich to share and added fries for an additional $2.99. The sandwich came with coleslaw and a pickle. I found the sandwich ok. It was no Schwartz's, lol. The amount of meat was satisfactory and at least it was lean. I don't like fatty cuts and I always get lean at Schwartz's even though almost everyone gets medium. I found the bread had a bit of a funky smell (and no not just a rye bread smell, lol) but my husband didn't notice this. I liked that there wasn't an excessive amount of mustard. The coleslaw was creamy and ok. I do prefer a vinaigrette-based coleslaw though. I enjoyed the fries. They were crispy. My husband enjoyed the meal more than I did, so as always, it comes down to personal taste. I wasn't wowed, but if you like smoked meat sandwiches, why not check it out for yourself?
