I like the set up of Thyme & Again. Perfect cafe if you want to enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and munch on something sweet and light with your friends. The baked good prepared in house is so good. I really enjoyed my muffin as a quick breakfast. Unfortunately if you want a grilled sandwich or anything that need more preparation, it might not be a good idea if you are in a rush. Our Local Artisan Grilled Cheese ($9) Three Cheese (Black River Cheddar, Jack & Havarti) with Bacon took more than 20 minute to be ready and the cafe was not even too busy. Met a colleague here for lunch and a work session. We got sandwiches, drinks, a peanut butter square and headed upstairs. It was my first time here in years and I always hear great things. On a busy Saturday it's too bad they don't prepare the sandwiches fresh. I chose the turkey croissant sandwich and she got the salmon cream cheese with cucumber sandwich. She enjoyed her sandwich and has had it many times. I found mine a bit dry, it would be great with a homemade pesto or garlic aioli or something like that. The peanut butter square was amazing. Very sweet but the texture was great. I'm glad we shared it though. My London fog was enjoyable. It didn't really stand out for me. They have wifi and it was nice and bright upstairs. I haven't changed my star rating here, but I did spend a significant amount of time here today, and thought it warranted an update from 2012! My sister, Laura B and I were strolling through Westoboro today when she remarked that she'd never been to Thyme and Again, and I was shocked, and immediately dragged her in. The place was crowded, both on the outside patio (people love double digits in Ottawa!) and in the inside cafe area. We got in line at the sandwich counter and were met with a ton of delicious decisions. I opted for the grilled cheese with guacamole and tomato on the gluten-free bread. My sister went for the chicken quesadillas. The chef let us know our order would take a little while and we were welcome to pay. On my way to the cash I checked out their beautiful counter full of treats. I got my sister a buttertart square and I had a vegan chocolate cherry brownie. I also grabbed a Harvey and Vern's cream soda, and while at the drink cooler notice they make their own salad dressings, dips and spreads - yum! While we were waiting we also browsed the store which has a ton of local products like soaps, candies, chocolates, candles and gifts. It's a locovore's dream! Our food was ready after about 10 minutes, and we were lucky enough to grab a table by the window. Both of us really enjoyed our food. Even the gluten-free bread was delicious! My sandwich was served with a scrumptious coleslaw that was flavoured with dill - YUM! It also came with a deli pickle which I gave to my sister. She really enjoyed her quesadillas as well, and our desserts were wonderful. The shop also has an upstairs sitting area that's beautiful and showcases local art. It's a much quieter atmosphere and a great spot to have conversations with friends. Westboro is so lucky to have this place, and in addition to all of this they also have a huge catering menu! Terrible service- have to ask for tables to be cleaned and the place is so cluttered and busy, it takes away from the no fuss balance it tries to strike. Aside from that the place is ok. Didn't try the sandwiches, soups or salads, but people seem to enjoy them. We had the lemonade and took some pastries to go. Lemonades were ok. The triple chocolate brownie was a bit too dry/flaky for me, but if you like that sorta thing... plus it was more sugar than chocolate, i hate that. But... I RECOMMEND- The lemon cheesecake. Omg. I had a slice of apple tart here, and it was a good tart. What I liked the most about this place is the choice of sweets they have, along with the aesthetic upstairs gallery eating area to just chill and relax. When I came on a Sunday afternoon, the place wasn't too crowded. This place also sells some artisanal produce such as cocktail mixers, some sauces and other local sweet goods. I have always been tempted to go into Thyme and Again by the waft of a ginger cookie smell that is always there when I walk by. I wasn't disappointed when I went in and saw their selection of baking. Once I saw the zuchini walnut cookies, I forgot about ginger...I love anything with zucchini! I also picked up a loaf of their oat and honey organic sourdough bread, which proved to be delicious and a hit at my potluck. It is even better the next day as toast with some honey on it. The cashiers were very patient with all of my questions about the baking and then my indecisiveness at what to order. I will definitely have to go back, I left too many goodies untried like the thick black and white brownies and the generous looking slices of cheesecake... On the opposite side of the restaurant, there is a display with sandwiches, salads, soups and other lunch items. I would definitely come back for lunch next time: the restaurant part always seems to be full around lunch time. I cannot say I had a very good experience at this restaurant. I ordered a sandwich and a bowl of soup. The sandwich seemed like it had been in a colder fridge for too long, bread was soggy and the meats taste was thrown off. The mushroom soup I order tasted too much like salt. It was over powering. I left my unfinished food on the table and walked out. After waiting in two different lines to pay and order and receive my food, it was very disconcerting to have to try and find a clean table, then the food was sub par. read more

This is the best best best place to go for a little catching up with an old friend date I came here today with my previous teacher, i had a delicious tofu vegan wrap for 8$ which i found to be a little steep for your basic wrap which is the only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5, it was delicious though so personally i think its worth it, but very small portions for what you pay for here. This place never gets old. I always am excited and looking forward to returning to this gem. One of my favourite things here is their egg sandwich- seems old hat, but once you try it out, you will never go back! I have tried a few of their other dishes here and I am always leaving a satisfied and happy customer. They also have a frozen meal section that has all sorts of things from pies and ready made meals ( mall made in house!) that are ready to be taken home, warmed out and enjoyed. Omg Thyme & Again catered this event I had for work and EVERYTHING was so good. I was really impressed with the quality of the food as well as the selection. They served some of the best bacon mac and cheese I have ever had in my life. I actually went back for more... three times. They also served some amazing pulled pork and I could have had it all day. I was really impressed because often catering places don't do a great job on food, events can be hard but the food was hot, delicious and it just kept coming. It also fit with the theme of the event which was really cool and it felt like they had a super diverse menu. I would definitely choose them to cater more events. 10/10 for me! read more

Their food is definitely overated and mediocre at best. The only thing i recommend is the soups which are very good. Don't even bother with the sandwhiches which are a joke, only bread and skimpy portion of filling..no sauce, no veggies, no thanks. The desserts in the other hand are not bad at all. Came here for lunch a few weeks ago on a Saturday. This place was packed, and the wait was a little long. My meal was ok, I had mushroom soup and Calabrese sandwich. I would've like more meat, and I think a cheese and a mayo in it would've made the sandwich better. The upside was the gluten free bread. Yep homemade gf bread. It was pretty good. Thyme and Again is a gourmet cafe and catering shop located in the westboro neighborhood of Ottawa. Read: yummy mummies and the ladies that do lunch come here often for their gastronomical fix. I'm not the former or the latter but I used to enjoy hitting this place up when I used to live in Ottawa for their baked goods (great selection) and chance to catch up with friends. They also have lovely soups and sandwiches for lunch that are tasty but not cheap. A good place to catch up with friends in pleasant surroundings. Enjoyed the new's year menu with the roaring fireplace in the background as you can warm up dinner at home - the beef was cooked perfectly, just looked at the valentines menu, can't wait! In house I like the peanut butter squares and the white choc, cranberry scones- I never try anything else. My friends like the sandwiches and soup. I like the salmon sandwich and the 2 soups I tried were great. The house pâté is my favorite of the pâtés although my family prefer the Stilton pâté. The staff are knowledgable and kind. Hats off to the chef team. This year we ordered Christmas dinner, it was very good and the leftovers gave us a whole other meal. I missed cooking the turkey but loved having the amazing potatoes! Better late than never :) We were fortunate to have Thyme and Again as our caterers for our wedding at the Orange Gallery (December 2016). They were recommended to us by the gallery, and were very familiar with their space, so we felt very comfortable going with them off the hop. Upon connecting with Rose Goyette on our initial exchange, I felt very confident in our decision to go with them. They assigned our event to their lovely event coordinator, Diane Goodwin, and she was so much more than an event manager to us. She gave me straight answers (with clarity), met all of my expectations, and supplied me with the most professional recommendations when my planning tasks would overwhelm me. It truly felt like I had a top wedding planner helping me through everything. Diane's vibe was exactly what I was looking for in a coordinator, I trusted her completely and she was very thoughtful in our communications. I didn't bug her too much, but when I did, she always got back to me in a timely manner to ease any of my concerns. Best of all, she managed the staff on our big day with so much ease and grace. She and her exceptional team pulled off a really beautiful event, our guests still rave about the high quality of the food, and they kept exactly in line with the theme I had outlined. I got to have a cool moment with Diane just before I walked down the aisle where she even brought me my favourite gin and tonic to calm my nerves. I first heard about Thyme & Again from a professor of mine that brought cookies to class. Their chocolate and pecan cookies are very good, but their sour cherry Linzer cookies are, to this day, my absolute favourite. I have never had a Linzer cookie as good as theirs! They are baked fresh, never too sweet or burnt. Along with cookies, cakes, tarts, and other desserts, they also have a selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, dips, and specialty foods for sale, with a small seating area and patio to enjoy them all. It's quite popular, especially when it's a nice day out. They offer catering services as well. I've even seen their Thyme & Again van at a few different locations around town, including residential areas. Their prices can be a fairly high, though, so I don't buy too much too often. read more

These guys are fabulous. Thyme and Again catered my wedding on Sept 20 and throughout the entire process they were attentive, flexible, and so easy to work with. We had quite a few guests with dietary restrictions including gluten-free, allergies, and one particularly severe glutamate allergy, and Bridget was able to accommodate everyone with ease. We chose a buffet dinner and she arranged it so that our most food-sensitive guest was simply served a separate meal directly at her table. If you like over paying for someone to either hand you a sandwich or microwave a meal that was pre made this is your place. The portion sizes are also ridiculously small. This place is a must visit for fresh soups, sandwiches and salads if you're looking for a place in Westboro. I work nearby and we go every once in a while because my boss has celiac and they apparently have quite good gluten free bread. There are also gluten free options in baked goods and soup. I have had the gluten free cookies and a cake, while the cake was a tad rich for me, some of the cookies are better than gluten filled ones! Not to say that the gluten cookies aren't good, they are all delicious. I would go more often but I do find it a tad expensive for sandwiches. I also find that the service leaves a lot to be desired and the layout can be a bit chaotic. Still, it is such a cute place with a great variety in sandwich options, which is nice for a change. I've had better sandwiches for less money, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend it as a great place to meet a friend or take a break in your day. I haven't tried their catering so I can't speak to that, there are always tons of people buying it so it seems like it must be good.
