My 8yo daughter has been going to Thunder Kung Fu for almost 7 months, and we love it! She always looks forward to attending. There is flexibility in the amount of days and which day of the week you want to attend. Sufi Gao is the owner, and he has two other instructors who assist in class. They promote the true Chinese culture and art of Kung Fu. They also offer adult classes and private lessons, as well as the opportunity to join the more competitive team (performing at competitions and Warriors games). We are always greeted with a smile, but once class starts it's all about focus and discipline. Sufi Gao is strict, demands respect, but in turn also encourages students and challenges them to the best of their own abilities. He sees each student for who they are, and pushes them to be the best that they can be. Even though the classes have up to 20 kids, Sufi knows each one by name, and what their individual strengths and areas of improvement are. His attention to detail and preciseness for each belt form is much appreciated. He won't pass a student for the next belt form just because they completed a certain amount of classes, but rather only when each student masters each form. Sift Gao and Shifu Ning have the amazing ability to balance strict instruction and brevity in the classes, which keep the students focused and entertained at the same time. This is a sanctuary for children and adults besides their homes. I've had years of martial arts experience in the past from different schools, but had to stop for many reasons. Last year, I felt the desire to go back to training, but refused to come back to previous schools. I found Thunder Kung Fu, did a trial class, signed up the same day, and have been there ever since. The school offers dynamic styles with traditional Chinese kung fu (from Shaolin root), modern Wushu, Tai Chi and Self Defense classes. Sifu Gao, and Sifu Ning are very nice, knowledgeable and extremely understanding. Sifu Gao is kind, talented, and very down to earth. They are the sole teachers in the school and pay attention to each and every student; you know that you learn the techniques from the source. Both Sifu's understand that all adults have life and responsibilities outside of the kung fu school and we all go there to whine down after a long day at work or other duties. They are very lenient to the adults in terms of the belt materials and requirements; make it fun to learn yet maintaining the quality of techniques and movements. At the end of the day, kung fu is a hobby for most adults, and so we just want to learn and have fun at the same time. All the adults students are nice, friendly and have a sense of camaraderie. We often get together outside of classes for fun activities. On the other hands, I observe that kids receive different kinds of discipline and learning methods which help them focus, be responsibilities for their actions in and outside of the kung fu school. Prior to joining the school, I went out and visit two others. I immediately felt positive vibes from this school. I am more than satisfied with thunder kung fu. I have two boys attending for the past 5 years and they have enjoyed it all, beginning till today. Sifu Gao and Sifu Zhao are amazing with my 5 year old son Jake. I can see his confidence from Kung fu spill over all aspects of his life. Both Sifus are great with kids and their knowledge and ability to convey the techniques to the kids is extraordinary. They are able to make the class fun and engaging. The kids pay attention and they are able to balance the right amount of discipline while allowing the kids to be kids. As someone who has trained in traditional Kung fu overseas in Hong Kong, I would highly recommend Thunder Kung fu for anyone who wants to learn Wushu or just anyone who wants to add some flexibility, explosiveness to their lives. They teach children of all ages and skill levels as well as adults. They opened their first school in Fremont over 3 years ago. We drove from Pleasanton to Fremont a few times a week. They have a very fair and professional way of teaching every student. Their methods are effective,encouraging, and motivating. The kids have fun and they are learning discipline, respect, and self defense. I highly recommend Thunder Kungfu in Dublin. They have martial arts for all ages. Boxing, tumbling, and tai chi. This is the first Kungfu school that my kids attend. We signed up on the spot after free class trial. Both Sifu Gao and Sifu Ning are very patient teachers. They manage the class very well with variety of young to older kids attending at the same time and provide individual attention and correction for every child in the class. My two kids are learning for almost a year already. Sifu Gao, Sifu Ning and new sifu are very friendly, and provide necessary feedback to all kids to improve their practices. School has flexible make up schedule. You can come on other days they have the same class for make up. My kids love the class and always look forward to attending and learning more moves. Hi, I have been practicing Kungfu for 20 yrs and I can tell a good Kungfu school from another. Thunder Kungfu Academy has authentic Kungfu masters and teaches class at a high level. Whether you learn traditional forms like Shaolin and Northern Style forms or contemporary modern wushu, I can assure you the seven masters are well versed with it. The masters are true masters of the art. They performed and competed with it in their earlier years. One big plus learning at the academy is the fact that there are seven masters. This allows them to spend quality time to each student therefore able to give more details when practicing the form. The newest class offered are Taichi classes. In this class we learn in great detail the proper execution of each QiGong and Taichi forms. We learn not only the movement, but how to breath properly and how to generate energy ( Fa Jing or Fa Li ). Sifu Joy Liu is the best teacher I've experience so far. We learn very slowly, taking the time to learn each move to avoid developing bad habits. I am practicing at this academy 5 days a week. Three days of Kung fu and two days of Taichi. I'm an advance student and I recommend Thunder Kungfu academy. I hope to be your classmate someday. Great place for kids and adults to learn Kung Fu. I always wanted my son to learn traditional martial arts to build a good foundation. Sifu Gao, Sifu Zhao, Sifu Ning, and all Sifu's are amazing with kids and balance each class very well. Best part is that they pay attention to detail. Sifu s' work with each student with his/herown pace. So, students do not feel pressurized to rush through the Belts progression. I've been attending the adult classes here and it has been a phenomenal experience. The art form is exceptionally well taught, and every class is productive. They are also very fun, I tend to not even realize, until the end of the class, that I'd been dripping in sweat for the past hour. I wish I can give 10 stars! My kids have been with Master Gao for almost 4 years now. We started in their first school in Fremont and now continuing in their Dublin campus. In addition to teaching kids the essential self-defense and kung fu forms, Master Gao always goes above and beyond making the classes so fun and engaging for the kids. As a parent, I am beyond happy to see the big smiles on their faces after each class and how they have gained their confidence while learning to be discipline and respect with Master Gao. All the kids get the attention and help at their individual levels, no kid will be left behind because they cannot catch up. Not only that Master Gao is really passionate about kung fu, he is really good with kids too! He knows exactly what each kid is capable to and motivate them in different ways.
