These guys are awesome, can't say enough good things about their honesty, professionalism and workmanship! I brought my car in with a dreaded check engine light on, my turbocharger was failing. The code makes you think you can fix it. Mike told me that we need to be smart about it because the labor cost of removing the turbocharger, repairing it and putting it back it back was over one thousand dollars! On top of that repairing the problem related to the code doesn't guarantee the check engine light won't come back on! It also doesn't mean there might be another problem with the turbocharger. He offered that I can shop for a replacement turbocharger and he would do the same. I found a new OEM turbocharger for a good price and he installed it for me! The car runs great and the turbocharger is functioning like it did before the light came on I own 2 other cars and I'm going to give these guys all my business. read more

I originally started taking my Mercury Mountaineer here when I moved to Old Bridge two years ago. When I had to get new vehicles I took my new Honda's here. I chose Thrust because they have high reviews and were close to our place. I started losing trust in their services shortly after they tried to overcharge me for a simple repair I ended up being able to easily do myself. This made me aware of their potential for future dishonesty. I had Thrust do a maintenance. They suggested I get new tires which I knew I was due for but Medina Tires gave me a better quote. I had Medina check some PM items outside of the oil because I was going on a long road trip and Medina found that Thrust didn't change my air filters that they charged me for. At the end of my road trip I got a low oil level warning on my dash. I check the dip stick and to my shock there's no oil level. When I saw the small oil puddle under my car before I left I chalked it up to residual oil from the Thrust maintenance but I now realize it was a leak. It turned out to be a loose oil filter. At least Thrust actually did that. Too bad they didn't do it correctly. read more

the owner claims im lying lol. i paid 1200$ without any fight or hesitation. the parts i have are from HPA motorsports, who has been around for 30 years and is a VERY reputable company in the VAG world. i did not show up with "someone" to do the adaptation. i brought my friend so i had a ride because i havent had a car for a week. i HAD to perform the adaptation myself using OBD11 because thrust did not have an updated cable to work on my car and refused to buy one. i brought the car to them asking them to install the actuator thinking they would complete the task at hand with basic car knowledge. yet somehow thats considered diagnosing the car myself. long story short, the shop did not complete the install and charged me an additional 2 hours for something that should have been included in the intial install (which i paid happily). they then told me to fuck off and get out. read more

STAY FAR AWAY from this SHOP!!!!! Seriously. I ordered brand new wheels and tires for them to instal (see attached pics) and scratched and CHIPPED my rim. The owner could care less and the employees tried to put blame on me. My wheels were brand new and defect free 10000% percent before bringing to them. Owner tried to blame me saying I brought it in damaged when I checked the condition before giving the wheels to the shop. The center inner rim is damaged from there machine (see attached picture ) , how can I damage the inner center wheel ? This shop does not care one bit and would never go there again. I've been going to Thrust Performance with my vehicles for more years that I can remember. They are excellent at what they do, they will never rip you off, and I feel that their prices are very reasonable. I was there this morning (11/17/23) to get my oil changed. I had an appointment and the oil change was done very quickly. I've taken my vehicles a few times to other garages before I found Thrust...you know the garages that will change your oil in 10 minutes or less...and because I'm a woman after they get my car up on the lift, they'll come out and rattle off things that my car needs. I don't know what they're talking about and I can't spell what they're telling me to look the problem up. I find it very hard to believe them and they're just trying to get me to spend more money. I especially hate it when they tell you that they greased something underneath the car and you know damn well they haven't! You have none of that with Thrust. If Samar or Mike (the owners) think your car needs something they'll certainly tell you what the problem is and explain it in detail so you understand. They definitely do not put any pressure on you to do it while you're there. I have never felt that I have been taken advantage of at Thrust because I'm a woman. I think Thrust's reputation speaks for itself.... I'm very pleased with all the work that they have done on my vehicles over the years and will continue to use them. read more

My Grand Cherokee was mis-diagnosed as having a bad cylinder head by the dealership, who gave me a $5,000 quote to replace. Besides my food obsession, my other passion are cars, so being a gearhead I'm always looking for reliable shops. I recently purchased a set of "Diamond Black" (gloss black) wheels for my car. These wheels (for my particular car) are special order from Japan and can take months to receive, so I needed a reputable shop to handle mounting tires onto these wheels without damage. Through Tirerack's installer list Thrust Performance showed up as a local shop with a history of working on performance oriented cars. I was greeted by Mike at the front counter and he indicated he would personally mount my tires after processing several customers that were ahead of me for service. Later I found out Mike is one of the owners so it was nice to see an owner actually working. Quickly I realized Mike was also a gearhead as we spoke for several minutes about cars which put me more at ease. After getting the set of tires and wheels ready, Mike welcomed me to watch him mount the tires onto the wheels. Attentive to make sure my wheels didn't get scratched during the mounting process it was great to see Mike was very careful in the mounting process making sure the plastic guide was placed correctly and did not scratch the wheel surface. Mike's professional knowledge was further confirmed as he was well aware that my tires (basically track tires that are barely DOT street legal; Toyo R888's) were directional tires and needed to be mounted in specific directions. Mike was even nice enough to install black wheel weights as they would match the color of the wheels better. After the mounting process I had a thorough look at the wheels and to my relief and happiness there were no scratches or blemishes imparted to my wheels. Knowledgeable and professional service is very hard to find in the auto service industry and it looks like Thrust Performance is delivering! read more

Been coming here for since 2012 with 3 cars for anything I cant do myself such as tire installation or repairs i dont feel like doing. They are experience mechanics that shares a passion for cars. They muffler/exhaust repairs because salt in NJ destroys metal under your car. They have a touchless tire mounting machine that wont scratch your nice wheels. They can price match online tire prices too and still offers manufacturers rebates when available. Had a bad experience with my expensive powdercoated wheels getting scratched at another shop. Recently potholes destroyed 2 of my tires brought them to Thrust to be mounted and balanced and saw the machines they use and these are the best machines you can find. Worst shop I've ever been too! First off very unprofessional! Had no papers stating what the total price was going to be for the car at all it was all over the phone which was very unprofessional. THAN the mike over the phone said the first total was going to be $120 for just my power steering hose and the labor because all he did was seal it . Than he calls me back and says he has to put a new hose on it and I said okay. Next day I get a call from another guy in the shop telling me the full price and I said okay I asked if they could look if u needed a tune up and they said sure! All I needed was to take my old spark plugs out and put new ones it which does NOT COST $273 in labor to do that . The guy told me on the phone with the new hose and spark plugs the total will be $313 and I said okay reasonable. I go to pick up my car and he says $873!!!! MIND YOU ALL I GOT WAS A NEW HOSE PUT IN AND NEW SPARK PLUGS . he charged me for labor $430 because "my car was difficult to get to the hose!" BS! what kind of mechanic does that. My dad has been the mechanic business for 28 years and all my uncles work on cars too and even they said that's way over priced and unprofessional. Never ever told me $870 over the phone AT ALL. My vehicle has been experiencing poor acceleration and gear shifts. Brought the car to a shop where they tried to hose me for a transmission replacement. We have 4 cars in our family, and needless to say, I could take a big financial hit if I do not manage to keep them serviced and maintained in a very cost-effective way. In this regard, I must say that Mike and Samar are the most knowledgeable, honest and considerate mechanics I have ever experienced. First of all, they are extremely good at getting to the root of every problem. They troubleshoot very efficiently, and in the rare case where they cannot be sure - they admit it. They also advise me whether or not a problem is urgent, and often come up with alternatives that might save me some money. I have lost count of the number of times that they identified and fixed a minor problem within minutes, and asked for nothing. I have had some major repairs that were unavoidable, and in these cases they charged a fair price to do the job right, and I was never disappointed. Finally, they always treat me with respect (and a bit of humor, which I also appreciate), and carefully listen to me describe the problems to make sure we are all on the same page. Went here over the weekend for a oil change and ended up paying more than I wanted...but I'm glad I did! The oil change itself was not too bad at all but the guy working on my car was thoroughly inspecting the car and noticed several issues. For months my car sounded louder than usual and didn't drive as smooth, I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I had 1-2 oil changes and the mechanics didn't locate the issue and just said its a loud exhaust. Finally when I went to Thrust, at fist glance they noticed the car was loud and showed me the break in the tail pipe once the car was lifted. I cant believe the other mechanics never saw it or even how I could have missed such an obvious break, but the guys are Trust were able to fix this at a decent price. Wasn't happy to pay for it at first but once I noticed the difference in how my car sounds and runs, I'm so disappointed I didn't get it checked out by them earlier. They also topped off the fluids and checked the tires. One of my tires had a nail which they fixed in 5 minutes. Other shops are not as detailed as these guys, and I have been everywhere looking for a good shop Brooklyn, Staten Island, Newark, Jersey City etc. Most of all, other shops don't give you time of day when they know your just coming in for a oil change, one shop even told me they don't have time for that. I don't usually write reviews but felt obligated on this one. I'm glad I took a chance to check this place out. Seems most mechanics don't know what their doing and the good ones have become such divas they don't want to work on oil changes (Not going to name any names here) but these guys are awesome. Thrust Performance is absolutely the only place to take your car! Our Nissan Rogue had a busted door handle. I called the dealership in Philadelphia and asked if I could make an appointment to have them look at it. I asked if there would be a charge to look at it and give me an estimate, and the dealership said it "would be no big deal to just look at it." However, when I got there, they told me it would be $100 just to give me an estimate. I said no thanks. I did what I should have done in the first place and took it to Thrust Performance, and Mikey and his team fixed the door handle, changed the oil, fixed a broken wiper blade, and put air in the tires for barely more than what it would have cost the dealer just to look at it! I dropped it off on a Friday at 2:00pm and then went to get some lunch. The car was ready to go before we finished eating! Everyone at Thrust was friendly and professional, and we won't even think about taking our car anywhere else! read more

I have a 2013 Hyundai Genesis coupe and bought aftermarket rims and summer Hankook tires. Came in to install 4 varrstoen rims and 4 tires in May 2015. They installed it but botched the tpms sensors so what resulted was a slow air leak of 2 weeks or so due to a misplaced gasket for the tpms sensors. They apologized but I had to waste an additional day of work to come by and have them fix. March 2016 I come in and ask thrust to put on the same varrstoen rims and tires and Andrew the ex brad benson Hyundai tech botch it even worse by installing my staggered setup incorrectly. Meaning 2 rear wheels were installed on the right side of my car and 2 fronts installed on the left side of my car. I gotta say: I'll forgive the first mistake. But I cannot overlook the second. I'll find a new shop to do this work. For any place that cannot tell the difference between staggered tires is negligent and deserves no business from me. Update: Mike personally apologized to me and gave me $100 cash for my trouble. read more
