This was a good night initially. My friends and I had a great night doing karaoke and partying. At the end of the night, the staff announced that all guests must leave the establishment. As my party gathered our things to leave, we were rudely being rushed. There about 15 total people in the establishment that night. So there was no need for the amount of fervor on the part of the staff to rush us out as we were in fact moving out. We were just not rushing. As we walked out, one of the staff members actually put hands on my friend and pushed her along. We were already in the hallway leading to the door--not in the main part of the establishment--no where near it. It was such an upsetting experience. Once the staff member placed his hands on my friend, we begin to argue with him and he called us the 'B' word. It was not a good experience at all. Completely, unnecessary given the number of guests in the establishment that night and given the fact that everyone was actually moving towards the exit at the time of the staff members physical and verbal violence. This occurred on 27 January. I usually only use Yelp to review restaurants that is why it has taken me so long to create this review. read more

$5 cover charge, but you do get 2 clubs for the price of one. Offkey and Throwback are conected by a hallway. Come and go pretty easily to both. Mostly newly minted 21 year olds on the throw back side due to the decent size dance floor and DJ, mixing everything from 80's to present and glow sticks abound. The floor was a constant state of sticky, wet, cups and ice. Drinking and dancing, geesh some people just can't mutitask. I lean a little more towards the offkey side. Pick a song, wait for the mic and sing your heart out. You will not be alone in your ballad as the rest of the mixed but fun loving crowd joins in. Liquid courage comes to the rescue in the form of 3$ & 4$ drink specials. For $25 on the Offkey side you can rent a room to privately sing your heart out. Amazing place to bring a group but no shame in going solo. The atmosphere was fun and easy going. It's westport so parking can be rough but not impossible. Clean facilities, always a pleasant surprise in the club scene. read more

My friend and I recently went to throwback. Long story short my friend was discriminated against for being gay. He got picked up by his neck and thrown out. Another employee grabbed me by my arm and left bruises on me. This isn't the first time Throwback has used excessive force on people. We were not refusing to leave. We said we would walk out and the employee kept trying to grab me. I told him I was leaving and he said he didn't care that he "owned me" and proceeded to grab my arm and bruise me. Throwback KC is a dance club. It's dark with black lights and a lot of glowing features. Drink prices are pretty average and it's usually packed full of people. It's so crowded that it becomes uncomfortable. There is also a $5 cover charge. read more

Nice concept! I went on a Saturday night when they were playing 90s and 2000s Music, & the crowd was amped! The drinks are reasonably priced too. I went 2 nights in a row and it seemed as though they played the same exact music on both days, which is why I only give it 3 stars out of 5. I would have liked for them to switch it up a bit. Other than that, I enjoyed myself and would bring friends here if they came in town. read more

My friends and I were in town visiting for the weekend and we decided to check this bar out. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!! We are from South Dakota, and the bouncer accused us of having fake IDs. He took our IDs and told us he was going to cut them up, even though we had other forms of identification with us. We had to call the cops and have them show up to prove we were 22! After this whole fiasco, the bouncer was not apologetic at all. Instead he told us we weren't welcome in this bar and flipped us off. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever encountered. They made him pay by saying that was policy and that the money would come out of the waitresses check. I came here on January 18th, to celebrate my 21st birthday. We arrived around 9. After arriving, me and my mother order a drink and danced for a few minutes. After dancing we wanted to sit and relax for a second. We went to sit down in a section that was not indicated as reserved. We sat, a security guard around 5'7 came over and told me I couldn't sit there unless I wanted to pay a 300 dollar fee to rent the space. I obliged and left the "reserved" area. Then the security guard proceeded to insult my MOTHER for her weight and race, I honestly think I have a legal case against this establishment because of discrimination. I just wanted to enjoy my birthday, but instead I was assaulted and removed from a club that I paid to get into. Absolutely ridiculous. After the situation happened I tried to call the establishment and they told me not to call again after being disrespectful and refusing to tell me what their title was as an employee. read more

I want to tell you about my night here at Throwback.I am 23 years old, and have been a longtime fan of this business. I have been many times, had great times, brought more people back, and never had a bad night, until tonight. This was Friday, September 23rd at about 11:45pm. I left the club forgetting I had an open tab. As soon as I started walking away I remembered, and turned back to go inside and pay. I went in the entry way to "ThrowBack" not Offkey. There was a dividing rope that read "entry" with an arrow showing the line on the left. There was a bouncer present. He was about average height, very muscular, with tattoos, and black. I showed him my wrist with my reentry mark as I walked in the entry, we make eye contact, and then he physically grabbed my chest and pushed me out of the entry while yelling "WRONG WAY" at me. To set the scene, the club was mostly empty, and there was nobody else in line, ahead of me, or behind me. It was the most stress-free situation possible for a bouncer. To clarify, this was not a firm push, or even firm. This was aggressive manhandling to a person who was walkinig in the entryway. He shoved me so hard that I could feel the force deep into my chest, in a way that I hadn't ever felt before, as if it had hit my heart. He physically removed me from the line in a manner that was so bizarrely aggressive and hateful that i had never experienced in my life until now. I yelled, "Hey! The way you grabbed me was completely unacceptable, give me your name!" Those were my exact words. He yelled, "My name is 'I'm going to beat the fuck out of you!'" Those were HIS exact words. I tell him I'm contacting his manager, and then he grabbed me AGAIN and told me to get the fuck out while shoving me out of the doorway. Look-I was a very happy customer., with no ill intent whatsoever. I loved ThrowBack but now will never ever return. This man made me feel like i had just been assaulted walking down the street. This man is not fit to monitor people's safety and wellbeing. I then had to leave Westport by police escort, even though the only physical contact was him shoving, grabbing, and pushing me. read more
