Throwback KC on a Saturday night
Caitlin C.

Throwback KC is a dance club. It's dark with black lights and a lot of glowing features. Drink prices are pretty average and it's usually packed full of people. It's so crowded that it becomes uncomfortable. There is also a $5 cover charge.

I would highly recommend this place. Throwback KC is a great place for bachelorette parties, birthday parties, or just a night out.

Had fun. I will say the drinks were watered down but it was a great place to go let lose!

Blonde bartender is rude every single time we have gone. Go to the brunette one. Friday nights also aren't as busy or fun as Saturdays.

You get two hours in the Igloo, with complimentary hot cocoa and delicious cookies. It's super cute! I went with the girls but this is definitely date night worthy. You can order food and drinks also. I ordered the Birria Bites, Pomme Frites and Snickerdoodle Martini. My friends ordered the Honey Chipotle Chicken Wings, Pomme Frites and the Lemon Thyme Soda Mocktail. The Birria Bites were a 6/10. The Snickerdoodle Martini 10/10. My friends thought the chicken wings were about a 5/10. They liked their mocktail. We all agreed the Pomme Frites were good. 8/10. Cookies were a 10/10. The overall experience itself is a definite 10/10 recommend! I'd do it again.

We sat down waited way too long to even be noticed. Tried signature drinks Pom & Oak and snickerdoodle martini. They were pretty sweet & not strong. We ordered a creme brulee, which was served cold & came with 2 spoons that my husband called 'snow shovels' as they were about 50% of the dessert plate. It was a nice brûlée, just wish it wasn't so chilled. Overall, just okay for us. 3 stars on food &drinks but service was just so lacking that it loses a star. Restaurant: Service was not good here. We arrived at 10 with reservation, watched everyone after us get attention. 10 minutes before waiter 'saw' us. I got a mimosa, husband ordered cappuccino. I sipped slowly but he didn't get his drink for 20 more minutes. Plus I guess a printer in kitchen broke down so everyone was waiting on food. we didn't get food until 11:10, then felt like they were pushing us out as they close at 11. So sorry! So just like the bar- the food was okay, but service dropped another star. We canceled day 2 breakfast there, just not worth our time to get ignored. Also having loud small children in the small dining area was just annoying after a while. (I tried to stay patient, truly)

It has a very aesthetic, elevated feel. I ordered the burnt end flatbread, which had great flavor, but it could've used a little more time in the oven for a better crisp. The crème brûlée was a bit disappointing, as it didn't have that classic crunchy top that you expect. That being said, the espresso martini was one of the best I've had in a while definitely a highlight. Overall, the ambiance is a 10/10, the drinks are excellent, and the food was a bit hit or miss...

But I had yet to try the Parker in the hotel until my most recent visit and let me tell you, i've been sleeping on this place! We stopped in here for a quick bit before a concert and it was such a great idea! The service was wonderful! The bartenders were super friendly and fun to chat with. We just ordered two apps and a couple drinks but they all were amazing! I would love to come here again and get an entree as well as try other things. The restaurant is located pretty high up in the hotel so you also have a fun view. The vibes are just right giving a slightly elevated atmosphere. It wasn't busy at all so their was no wait which was nice since we were on a schedule! Overall, this is a great spot if you are staying at the Fontaine or in the area.

Even walking in, we weren't quite sure what to expect. The entrance is small, and you're greeted right away, which was a nice touch. Once inside, it's very dark with deep red lighting--almost like stepping into a cave. It took a moment for our eyes to adjust, but once they did, we immediately felt at ease. The space is cozy and perfectly aligned with its purpose: it's all about the jazz. The service was great--welcoming, attentive, and added to the overall experience without taking away from the music. And the music? Absolutely captivating. It pulls you in and transports you--you can't help but settle into the vibe and just enjoy the moment together. We went on a Monday, so there was plenty of seating, but I noticed there's also a lower level that likely accommodates larger weekend crowds. There's a solid drink menu and a small selection of food, but honestly, this isn't the place you come for a full meal. Come for the drinks, stay for the music, and soak in the atmosphere.

This rooftop gem on the Country Club Plaza has such a youthful, energetic vibe--perfect for a milestone like this. Our server was excellent--super friendly, attentive, and even recommended a beautiful and delicious cocktail that paired perfectly with our dinner. We went all out and sampled a ton from the menu: fried lobster tail, pepperoni pizza, spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, wagyu Nagiri, oysters with caviar, and wagyu sliders. Most of the food was absolutely delicious! The sushi rolls stood out with their unique flavors and beautiful presentation--what a nice surprise. Our absolute favorites were the wagyu nagiri (melt-in-your-mouth incredible) and the oysters with caviar. The wagyu sliders were also a hit. That said, the fried lobster tail was a bit of a letdown--chewy and lacking the flavor punch that everything else delivered. The atmosphere is lively and fun, but heads up: it gets very loud. We were at one of those tiny cocktail tables and basically had to yell across it to chat, which made conversation a challenge during dinner. On the bright side, we scored an amazing seat with a stunning view of the Plaza. Watching the sunset while eating was magical and made the whole experience feel extra special for a birthday. Overall, great food (with just a couple minor misses), awesome vibes, top-notch service, and that unbeatable rooftop setting. I'd definitely recommend Prime Social and we'd go back in a heartbeat--maybe just bring earplugs if you're planning to talk a lot! 4 stars.

They had a nice variety too -- cheeses, pastries, fresh fruit, a yogurt parfait station, spring salad, roasted sirloin, braised lamb, poached asparagus, roasted potatoes, seared salmon, smoked ham, an omelet station, and desserts like cake and mousse. Executive Chef Charles D'Ablaing personally carved the meat selections. He was very kind and took the time to explain some of the hot entrée options, which we really appreciated. The staff overall were friendly, attentive, and kept everything flowing smoothly even during the busy brunch crowd. We used their parking garage off Wornall, buzzed in to let them know we were there for brunch, and they raised the gate for us, which made things easy for first-time visitors.
