His English was very hard to comprehend at the counter. We had to drill into questions to understand what he was saying. He explained about a credit hold for 84 euros for gas if we did not return the car with a full tank. But when we were on the road, I got a charge alert for 284 euros additional, which caused consternation. Apparently, they ALSO put on an additional 200 € hold for miscellaneous until you return the car undamaged. He did not mention this. The car was filthy outside but clean enough inside . Now the car was a new Volvo SUV and it handled very well and was a pleasure to drive . The return at the airport went well, the rep spoke excellent English and said the extra " hold" of €284 would be removed immediately . He was surprised the first rep did not explain this. So were we! One star for the pickup, 4 stars for the car and the return...

Why does this matter? Breakdown- you're on your own, car stolen- good luck, need to extend or modify your rental- you'll be unable to do so online. Additionally, 15 business days later, this is the second time I've had to call my bank to remove holds the company ensured would be removed after 10 business days. So, after that I told her I'm ok with debiting my account for the amount of 1,542€ instead of blocking it as there's a problem in the system (which is not the client's fault). So, I put the first card in the machine, the payment was approved and I received an notification from BNP Bank, but she told that it doesn't work. Than I put a second card I received an sms from my bank BOURSORAMA with the payment confirmation but again she told me it doesn't work. I explained to her that it's not possible as I received the bank confirm in the sms and she threatened to cancel the reservation knowing very well that it's late at night and that it was urgent to have the car. The final solution was to pay the super relax cover 142€ to take the car since it was late at night and my hotel is 1h drive from the airport. I was forced to take this super relax cover since I had no choice but to accept it. On the next day I find that I have been debited on my both account 1542 on BNP and 1542 on BOURSORAMA. Now they are not answering my emails and didn't refunded the 2x1542€, so I opened a case with "Centre Européen des Consommateurs France".
