So when it came for a dinner without the rest of the team, my colleague and I walked here. We knew the instant we saw the place that it was going to be a great meal. Linen tablecloths, sparkling silverware, wine and water glasses on the table, professional looking wait staff. We went in and while we were asked if we had a reservation, they were able to fit us in. I'd recommend that you do make a reservation as they limit the number of seatings to ensure good service. Starters. I had a fabulous delicious stuffed red pepper. My colleague enjoyed the beetroot and orange cured salmon. Nicely plated, perfectly prepared, I was sad to see them go. That is, until the mains arrived. I had ordered a the sirloin steak, which was a 10 or so ounce piece of perfect medium-rare on top of new potatoes, beans and mushrooms. If it weren't impolite, I would have licked the plate. My colleague's grilled tuna looked divine. Dessert was a vanilla bavois (sort of like triffle or gelatin, but... different) with roasted peaches was excellent. The cheese plate looked good, with grapes and sliced apple. A fantastic wine selection as well as bottled beers and Bitburger on draft complimented our choices. Service and timing was good without rushing us or being over-attentive. The total was a bit high, but it was a great meal and a great value. Two starters, two mains, a beer, three glasses of excellent wine. All told, £65.

We all had different mains, which generally were of good quality but rather huge in quantity, well over the top. I have to say though I have had better Haddock and Chips. Every meal we have had here has been outstanding - from the fresh rolls made on site to the sumptuous main courses and choice of desserts with home made ice-cream - everything is a real treat. In fact for fine dining I really wouldn't want to go anywhere else in the local area - no where else has come close. I have found this the perfect place for a special occasion having had my mothers 70th Birthday meal here - she loved it - and believe me that is high praise indeed!! The food is always fantastic - not a huge selection, although strangely I would normally be happy with any choice from the menu. Everything has been perfectly cooked to order by the owner - particularly the large choice of vegetables and potatoes which accompany any order. We never feel rushed - there is only one sitting so you feel like you can make an evening of it. There are great bottled beers from local brewers and a really good wine list which I know they are particularly proud of. Plus if you really want to indulge there is bed and breakfast accommodation as well!! If you haven't tried this restaurant I think you are missing out.
