    Our cabin for the weekend.
    Katie K.

My children ask every weekend if we can go back to the cabin. They are city kids and they absolutely loved this place. We have a gas grill, a fire pit and lawn chairs, all of which we used every night. Between the bunk bed and the pull out couch, our family of five fit comfortably. There is a full size fridge and a stove inside as well. The kids loved the pool which was a very short walk away. There was a Walmart only ten minutes away which was convenient, too. My only tip is to bring bug spray and a citronella candle with you because there were lots of mosquitos.

Clubhouse,restaurant/store, and even church on Sundays!

RV park that also has tent camping sites. There's a lot of activity going on here, which is bad or good depending on what you are looking for, and what your idea of "camping" is. I never thought I'd own an RV let alone stay in one! I was a die hard tent/car camper, and occasionally did a backpacking trip here and there. One summer night about 10 years ago, it was raining at midnight, and it was 108 degrees in our tent. I packed up, went home, and never looked back! Summers in Arizona are brutal, and I prefer to be inside at night in AC, or in a pool or water of some sort during the day. Ya' got both here! This place is a great if this is your idea of camping. Sites are spacious with lawns, not all dirt or gravel like most places. There's a swimming pool, very large, with a great resort-like pool area and clubhouse. The bathrooms are perfectly clean and functional. Among other ammenities, there's a clubhouse for kareoake, a restaurant, paddle tennis, playground, another clubhouse with wi-fi & cable TV... And more! Staff is very friendly and helpful as well. I paid a year membership for about 300 bucks. The first 30 nights are free, and then after 30, its 3 bucks a night. There seems to be a lot of full-timers here, and you get the feeling they have a sense of entitlement to ammenities and what not... And that kind of bugs me. While being very family friendly, it is mostly old, grumpy, crochety folks that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. There's 50 amp sites for 5 bucks more, 30 amp sites are free (with membership), and I'm not sure how much the tent sites are (with electricity and water). They also have cabin rentals for about 75 dollars a night too. I'll enjoy my one year membership here, and probably won't renew, as I like to try new places and move around a bit. But, overall, it's a very clean, friendly, spacious, and well-run establishment that I think most people would love!

Curvaceous narrow single track spinning and cruising across the terrain, dropping into and popping out of washes - my Santa Cruz, Tall Boy 29er suspension pop pop pops getting after it. The climb up Blowout canyon switch backs, a narrow trail on a steep ledge at times, requires concentration so you don't slip down hundreds of feet into valley. Pedaling up through Juniper trees with stellar views all around. Plus about a mile of rolling rock gardens - fun but technical. Then, descending *4F FFFF Fast Flow Furious Fun! The trail system is well marked and well kept up. We took the Blowout Canyon trail 551 to Bullseye 557 in a clockwise direction. I recommend this direction for the best view of the red rocks and valley to the north while you are hiking. There is interesting geology with red and gray tuff rock in several places and a red rimmed wall along part of the wash canyon. We saw only a couple of other hikers and two sets of mountain bikers on a Thursday in January so this is a great place to get away from crowds and enjoy the views. There was some mud on about 1/4 of the trail which would make for messy mountain biking, and a few places of the trail are narrow with a pretty good drop off into the creek canyon, so this is best for experienced mountain bikers. It is a fairly easy trail for hikers with only moderate climbs. Our hike was about 6.5 miles, but there are many options for longer or shorter walks. There is no shade so this is best enjoyed in the spring, fall or winter. To get here take Mingus Ave south of highway 89A, head about 1.5 miles south of the airport where Mingus Ave turns into FR 493. There are a few bumps and rocks on the Forrest Service road but it is easily passable in any car. The parking lot for the trailhead is on the west side and is quite large.
