As new parents we were so nervous dropping our baby off but Susan and the staff made us so comfortable by calling and letting us know how he was doing the first week. The staff truly loves what they do and you can tell. They have been so cautious during COVID. Susan the owner has such a passion for taking care of all of the children in the school. Susan puts the children's health and safety first which is extremely important to my husband and I. We would not take our son anywhere else because we know that he is so well taken care of there and has advanced so much already. They handled the pandemic with much grace, keeping us informed and aware of plans and have been open for several weeks now with safety measures in place. The teachers taught us how to nurture his inquisitive mind and properly support his needs. We couldn't have potty-trained him without their guidance. My son is now 4 and has flourished into such an independent, social, and happy little boy. He comes home, hangs up his own clothes, puts away his shoes, sets the table, and helps with laundry and dishes. They taught us how to most effectively deal with the very few times he had tantrums at home. He wakes up in the morning, picks out his own outfit for the day, brushes his own teeth, prepares his own breakfast (banana or pre-cut fruit from the fridge), asks questions about why the world works, can sit and play independently for hours, and will come to me and tell me, "Mommy, I need a hug." "I need some attention." "I need your help in ____, ___, ___" whenever his needs aren't met. Mixed-age classrooms were also incredibly helpful at this developmental age. The older kids teach the younger ones how to become more independent, and now that my son is one of the older children; he has been so patient with the younger kids and babies, teaching them what he was taught. I have spent a good deal of time in the room because I nurse in the morning with drop-off and stop by at lunch. From what I have witnessed, the staff there are truly loving in their interactions with the babies, and really know each baby as an individual. Sometimes all the babies are crying, but the caregivers are calm and compassionate, and go about their rounds of feeding, changing, rocking, playing. The staff have also been very accommodating of special requests, for instance, my son will only fall sleep in a swing or in someone's arms. More than once, I came in to find him asleep in the arms of one of the caregivers. While being in the room, I've had the chance to interact and talk with many of the staff who also rotate through the other rooms. I find them all to be friendly and knowledgeable, and loving towards the children. Probably like most places, they send you pictures during the day, and a daily report of every nap, change, and feed. Westtown Children's Academy was recommended by a faculty from WCU's education program, and some WCU education students work or rotate through the rooms. This is my first day care experience, and I am very satisfied with it. I can't speak for the other programs beyond the infant room, but I have colleagues who enroll their children in the toddler program and they seem happy about it.

They will constantly send your kids home even though it's the entire class that's acting up. My son has full time aid's with him, & the aids witness the horrors in the classroom everyday. Celia has no backbone in the 3's classroom, she doesn't have any control over her class and as a result you won't be able to work because they will call you to get your kid because they can't handle it. Stephanie up in the front is amazing and I have nothing bad to say about her, but she went on maternity leave recently and as soon as she went on maternity leave, the owner Nihti started targeting my son. I spoke with Nihti in the office which is when she told me kids are a number on a clipboard there. She is completely and totally only in this business for the money. And it shows. Her BEST staff Miss Ashley recently left around the same time Stephanie went on maternity leave. Because of their lack of GOOD staff, they will kick your kids out of their school. They've been open for a year and Nihti told me she's had to let go of multiple families. Tell me you don't care about the kids without telling me you don't care about the kids. They've also don't care about their staff at all. Stay FAR FAR away from this place. They also don't teach the kids ANYTHING. The classrooms are zoo's.
