Went for the first time this week and was not impressed. I should have known better than to go…read moreclose to closing, but I wasn't in the area any earlier (I don't live in bardstown). Got there about 25 minutes before closing and ordered 1/2 dozen glazed. The glaze was already flaky so they were just okay. Pricing is too expensive in my opinion. Size is pretty small and at $1.30 each, not worth it. There's no discount for ordering a whole dozen either, just flat per donut cost. Thought it might even be a little cheaper at the end of the day but I was wrong. The 2 older ladies working there didn't even greet me walking in, just stared at me like I was taking up their time. I'll go to OMG in Etown next time. Much better donut overall there.

I jumped on my trusty Yelp app and looked up bakeries and found Poppy's Bakery in Frankfort. I've been to Frankfort numerous times; but, had never taken a drive down that road. I am so glad I tried Poppy's out. From the moment I got out of my car I could smell the fresh baked goodies. One word.....heavenly. The lady working was so patient with me after I told her this was my first visit. Everything looked so delicious. I chose an assortment or cinnamon rolls, raspberry filled donuts, cheese danish and cherry cream Cheese danish. When I say this was the best danish Ive ever had I mean it! The danishes almost had a brûléed texture. One bite into that initial crunch then sweet, pillowy dough. My heavens...I'll be going there plenty. I will admit that I have a bit of a bias considering my daughter is a baker. She is not local to us so this review is based on strictly a non-bias experience. After enjoying a meal around the corner from here, I decided to stop in for a "sweet retreat" with an excitement and joy to discover well sized macarons on the menu. Price is fair for size and location. Their brookies and brownies are jaw dropping when you see their size. We were so full from lunch that I couldn't fathom anything more than what we bought. The ambiance is very inviting and spacious, and the service was very quick and accomadating. I ordered the Reuben sandwich with the tomato basil soup, and both were fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The Reuben was piled high with meat. I had enough left over for another meal! I couldn't leave without trying the red velvet crinkle cookie, and I'm so glad I did. I saved it to share with my husband when I got home, and it was incredible. I found out the owner's daughter, a Culinary Institute graduate, made it, and you can definitely taste the quality. We heard they had good cookies and wanted to stop in. But I was surprised to see that they literally had JUST cookies. A full store with like 8 kinds of cookies. Albeit, they were huge, probably 5" rounds. We decided to get a box of 4 and went with a chocolate chip, a key lime, a sugar cookie with sprinkles, and a peanut butter cup one. Lemme say, all 4 of them hit every mark; delicious! The chocolate chip had crisp edges, which is EXACTLY how I like them! Probably won't make a trip back, but I'd stop back in if I'm in the area.
