I am disgusted with this company. First off, I discovered a leak on their meter. Called them out and witnessed the tech tighten the leak before calling me out there to tell me there was no leak. So if you have a problem with something like this, I highly recommend that you video the issue. Secondly, 4 days after my due date, i come home from a funeral only to discover that they have disconnected me after only 4 days of being late. Ridiculous right? So now I am stuck with an outrageous bill that was caused by their equipment leaking and them deceiving me about it, and a $75 reconnect fee. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR PROPANE. We contacted Thompson gas company because the tank had run out of gas, emitting an unusual smell that the residents were not familiar with. When we called Thompson, they advised us to have the situation checked immediately or they would call the police. A guy came out came out, never went into the house and left, stating they could not deliver gas for 5-7 days. In the meantime, we reached out to another company to provide gas, only to discover that Thompson had actually placed a lock on the tank. They claimed it was a rental but were unable to provide any documentation to support this claim. The tank has been in place for over 40 years, and no such issue had arisen before. We informed Thompson that our state was under a declared state of emergency due to extreme cold weather and requested that they remove the lock and deliver gas. Payment was never an issue, and we were ready to settle any charges promptly, if there were any. However, they refused to remove the lock preventing another company who came out to put in gas. The following week Thompson still could provide no paperwork proving ownership of the tank and seemed indifferent to the potential harm caused by leaving residents without heat during a critical time. Needed to have tanks filled for an outside grill. Went on line, found Thompson Gas closes at 5:00 PM this day. Was relieved to discover I had 45 minutes to travel less than a mile. That was the only good news. Arrived at Thompson Gas, parked at the front door, left my truck . . . and found the business door shut and locked. Saw a lady busy at a computer monitor, rattled the door in front of her again and got zero response. Thinking maybe business was transacted at the back of the building, I walked there and found no one. Went back to the front door, rattled it a last time, thought I saw eyes raised above the computer monitor, then gave up and got back in my truck. Within minutes, I reached out to Thompson Gas via phone, was told "YOUR CALL IS IMPORTANT TO US." I left a message for a call-back. Did get a call-back. Responding to my problem, I was told an employee was being trained at the Decatur location and that there should have been a sign at the door that spoke to Thompson Gas being closed. I told the person on the phone I saw no sign stating such and that their web site told me I had 45 minutes to arrive before closing. The lady, reeking of attitude and clearly telegraphing she had no interest in talking further, asked, "Is there anything else I can do for you?" Do something ELSE for me!? I communicated I had little interest in doing business with her company. Her response (a near paraphrase if not exact) was: "That'll be okay." My reply before she hung up? "I know you think that's okay." CLEARLY, Thompson Gas wants to act as a vending machine. From the two people I had a brush with, I gather both think working for Thompson Gas would be wonderful....if they just didn't have to deal with customers. So upsetting! We have been customers for several years. always pre buy with "keep full" status. They let our tank run dry and we had zero gas on Thanksgiving Day and we were hosting the meal! House full of guests coming to eat and staying for the weekend. Called at 0600 am to report the issue. No call back. Called two more times and was told I would get a call back. By the end of the day on Friday finally got a call saying we might get some gas on Monday. No Thanksgiving meal, no hot water for the next 3 days. Its going to be 24 degrees tonight. Customer service rep nor technician could explain why they have delivered my gas on pre buy, keep full status, but this time it was not. This is the second time they have let my tank run dry. On Monday Thompson Gas came to trench for a gas line, the technician asked if there was anything underground, I said not that I know of as I had recently bought the house. He started trenching and half way through cut into some PVC pipe he didn't stop but continued on cutting about 7 feet of pipe. He dropped the new line in the trench left the old copper line laying across the tank and other 3 foot lengths sticking out of the ground and left. I immediately called Thompson, told them what happened. I left my information and phone numbers. I was told it would be passed onto Operations Manager Coby, he would call me back as he was in a meeting. On Wednesday morning I called Thompson as i hadn't heard anything, again left my phone numbers. Two hours later I received a phone call from an employee at Thompson who proceeded to berate me as she has called my number yesterday and left a voicemail. She said management decided they weren't responsible for the damage as I hadn't told them about the pipe being there. And that I should be grateful as they decided to not charge me the two hours of labor for trenching the yard. She then told me that they had also discounted the gas line cost but that had happened prior to the digging so they didn't do it for this reason. I asked what phone number that had been called and she gave one that wasn't mine. I asked her why Thompson wasn't responsible for the damage and she said I needed to speak to Coby and that he would call me after his meeting. Four hours later I hadn't heard anything, i called a regional office, explained the situation, was told a manager would call me back. Coby called me, said they had discounted the line, not charged me labor for trenching and that they weren't responsible. I asked why, he wouldn't respond except with we're not responsible. The total contempt from Thompson management has triggered this review. I was not hostile nor did I yell at anyone over the phone but was treated like I was a nuisance for wanting to know why Thompson was claiming ignorance on the damage they had done. read more

What a crappy company! We've been customers for over 35 years with the same company and Thompson gas took over. I called them for gas yesterday and they said they can't do same day delivery. My mom and I had no heat last night in 17 degree weather. My mom is diabetic and has trouble with her feet already. And on top of that, when I called they sent out an "emergency technician" to see if they needed to lock my tank! I am very disappointed in the service and I recommend using anyone else besides them.
