I met Mr. Thompson thru our sons playing soccer at McGill. Luckily we had a soccer party at his office. I had no idea what he did. He is not very forward. I was very impressed with the office. I called him a few days later about investing some funds, and he asked me a few questions concerning my future. When I told him, he asked if I had a plan to execute that future. I told him I thought the plan was in place because all pertinent people knew. When I got off the phone, I found myself racing to his office to articulate my desires and mapping out the proper paperwork according to Mr. Thompson's expertise. I cannot thank him enough. He introduced me to lawyers who also impressed me. Once involved, I became very meticulous and thus, slow. He never tired or became weary at my time taking. He never pushed me to do anything, just offered directions and offered the direction procrastination was taking me. He also worked on my wife's affairs as well. (She's not a client)  All this at the same price that anyone charges to manage a portfolio. He uses Wells Fargo and their charging rates and rates of return are comparable to others. To sum up, Mr. Thompson's job is to take care of you, financially. He stays on top of current world and national events and shows how they apply directly to you. Current events are one thing. How they apply to you is very important. Every few weeks, he invites his clients to dinner with a speaker. So far I have heard speakers talk on what the Biden admin (possible) tax increases are going to look like to all Americans. On another night, what to ask on how to decide when to take Social Security, and on another night, physical self defense class demonstration. I also asked him if he could look at my wife's pension plan and help us decide how to maximize it's benefits. "No problem." (All still, no charge.) With Mr. Thompson, you have a friend in the business- Not just a return that comes by mail at the end of the month. No harm in finding out the plan you have is correct.
