Light and bright, yet with cozy groupings that featured comfortable couches, armchairs, and side tables. There were gorgeous curtain treatments, classical light fixtures, and plenty of seating for mourners. The bathrooms were immaculate with an elegant floral arrangement. The lounge area provided everything that family and mourners would need for a break--coffee, tea, bottled water, and a selection of soda. Even napkins and paper plates, which we had forgotten to bring, were available. There was a large table with a generous amount of chairs for gathering together. Plentiful tissue boxes were placed throughout. Every detail was thought of and provided for the care of those who were grieving. The attendants, Deanna Moran and Patricia Sanchez, went above and beyond. They warmly greeted the family when we arrived and assisted in providing the risers for the floral arrangements that we brought. We were shown where everything was located in the building (bathroom, lounge, lounge supplies). They were attentive and caring, making certain that the entire event went smoothly from start to finish. Their compassion and sympathy embraced us, helping us to find closure during this difficult time.

He was always meticulously trying to care for his family, and was always organized and and prepared for everything. He wanted to make sure that things would be seamless when he passed so he would not be any burden to his wife and children. Everything went smoothly at his passing concerning his estate except with the funeral plans he made. Davenport did not inform us about his policy for the funeral until after he was buried. None of his final wishes were honored as a result. Davenport has been very unsympathetic. I have retained an attorney.

It's something that is as difficult and expensive to manage in a complex civilization as is any when numerous entities must be confronted and "checked off" in the recourse of a life's end. Countless details must be addressed and it can put an incredible amount of stress on family survivors if they are not prepared for the inevitable. Fortunately, we were prepared and Davenport Family Funeral Homes and Crematory were with us every step of the way. Knowing it was but a matter of time, they were contracted and entrusted with the task based on what we learned of them through references, ads, their website and face-to-face meetings. They took care of everything. In business since 1863, this family-owned and operated company eased all of our burdens and made the whole difficult process as easy as was possible under the circumstances. From family notifications, to ceremonies and final interment, they handled everything with personalized care, consideration and professionalism. No one wants to go through this but when you do, you'd want people like the Davenport family there to help. You may Rest in Peace. - Afterglow - "I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done."

The estate sought $10k (the value of the ringS) to have them remade. A little over $5k was received. Maybe they are referring to what they had to pay their lawyers to protect the business status and tire out our family when we tried to collect the full amount? It is unclear. They would need to provide that information. But thank you for the traumatic experience , money cannot "handsomely compensate" that pain away. New ringS will not bring back the generational sentiment they represented to me. This is also the first official apology and accountability I have received from the funeral home outside of the disruption at the service. At the end of the day, in my opinion, this is a business that needs to protect their business. I am another "customer" whose mom's body the business was processing as quick as they could to fit more business in. The response mentioned about being human - I feel they forget their customer's are human. I feel they forget their "inventory" was someone's mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. In my experience, that was made clear. ----------- The funeral home cremated my mom's rings by accident when cremating her. It makes me question how her remains were handled. I was then followed around and watched at the church by the owner and someone else from the funeral home for the entire service. If I had to guess it seemed they were fearful that we would be talking about the incident with others at the service. They also kept trying to force interaction with myself and 3yr old daughter (who clearly did not want to talk to two strange men). At one point, I was even cornered by the owner DURING the service discussing what had happened after we specifically said we did not want to discuss it during the service. The aftermath in dealing with them was completely unprofessional and traumatic for me. There is something off going on there.

When the pastor did not come to the cemetery with us, and we were left without a final reading before laying our loved one to rest, Andrew stepped in seamlessly. He had already chosen a reading based on a meeting he had with our loved one before she passed. His choice was perfect and deeply meaningful. Additionally, her hair and makeup were done in a very natural way that captured her essence, bringing comfort to our family.
