Would highly recommend! Teresa has done several projects for our family over the past 20 years…read more She's got incredible knowledge and fantastic taste. Above all, she is an advocate for her clients and advises on high quality vs. high price tags - and where to spend $$ to get the most bang for the buck. She has always been transparent about budget/spend and uses a software platform that allows the client to see exactly where the project stands, what's been purchased/completed, and what is outstanding. Truly a remarkable woman!

She admitted the work was horrible and she NEVER CAME BACK TO FIX IT! Now, I am stuck with the ugliest carpentry work I have ever seen! Huge gapping spaces in joints! Terrible cuts! And, my porches are DANGEROUS! I will need to replace the "stair job" on the long porch so no one gets hurt when it collapses $$$$! I will need to repair all the kebony decking that is already coming loose, so no one trips $$$$! I will have to have several posts reset to prevent further damage to my home $$$$! I will have to live with the UGLY and every time I go out on my porches I will feel disappointed and ripped off by this company. Theresa said it is her job to make people happy... she made me feel angry, disrespected, and ripped off! Do not let this company anywhere near your home or business! This company does not deserve even ONE STAR!

We had to terminate him for breach of contract and are now in a legal battle with them because of their actions. They did not complete the work in compliance with the TX building code. Neither Michael nor Blake would supervise the work being completed so we had to correct/direct their own workers. Michael's own engineer on the project inspected the work and provided us a multi-page report detailing how Michael did not have the structure built to the engineering specs. If you are going to hire this firm--or any other firm run by Michael Cottone or Blake Cottone, my wife and I recommend you: - insist they provide you proof of insurance bond before you let them on your property - specify the scope of work MUST BE COMPLIANT WITH TX BUILDING CODE - schedule your time so that you can actively supervise his team and his subcontractors because they will not. - inspect everything they do as it progresses to ensure you know it was done to spec.

Hello Michael. Our names are Eric and Vickie Bufkin, and you worked on our property in Johnson…read moreCity. I do not know specifics of the Hites job, but the review in Google sounds exactly like our terrible experience with you, your son, and your company. Here are those points: 1) we had to terminate you for breach of contract; 2) you did not complete the work in compliance with TX building code; 3) neither you nor Blake supervised the work being performed; 4) you said you had insurance, but you did not. The following points address your response to my review. The only licensed inspector on our property was you (at least we believed you were licensed because you said you were, despite the various work on our job not done to code). None of your employees or contractors who worked on our job were licensed. The electricians and plumbers were your employees, and they were not licensed. To my knowledge, the tile, concrete, painting, and framing subcontractors you used are not required to be licensed. By the way, you may recall that one of your framers confessed to us that you had ordered him to complete part of the framing out of compliance with building code. You may also recall, we ordered you to fix it. As for our overall experience with Journey Remodeling, I could spend hours describing astonishingly unprofessional behavior, repeated dishonesty, unskilled and apathetic workmanship, days and weeks of no work performed, and our property being strewn with beer cans and garbage. In short, I advise everyone to avoid Journey Remodeling. When I have a few minutes, I'll post photos that I shared with you and our lawyer back when I terminated you. Stay tuned.

I met Brent and his fellow woodworker some time back while I was making my debut at their sawmill!…read moreAll I was looking for was some sizable scraps so I could learn about some of the local lumber supply and teach myself how to pi-diddle with rough hewn materials before I went full-bore on more advanced lumber. I absolutely hit a vein directly of pure humane gold with these guys! They were so awesomely kindhearted and absolutely amazing craftsman who dealt patiently with my limited knowledge! They didn't have an ounce of pretense about themselves, their skills, or nothing, except for their inherent pride in the work they provide! These are everyday good people; hardworking, straight up and straight forward! I was so happy, impressed, and grateful for meeting and doing business with them that I even turned back around and brought them a six-pack of cold IPA beverages to help them end their day! I'm looking forward to seeing them again soon! BTW, they've got a massive collection of felled trees that came via Mother Nature's hands rather than having to harvest them from forests, or mega-brands, etc. Mighty impressive stuff! 5 jalapeños!

After pulling them from the ground and setting them aside, we realized we could see about repurposing them. Low and behold, Texas Urban Sawmill came out to our ranchette, loaded them onto their special truck, and hauled them off to Texas Urban Sawmill. As requested, they sliced each tree trunk longways in about 2 1/2 inch boards/slabs. They are BEAUTIFUL! After we let them airdry on our property for about two years (Devin explained every detail on how to do it) we are hoping to make some furniture, including a live-edge dining room table. If we find we are not skilled enough (we've never made one before) or just want a more professionally made table, we will definitely take a couple of the slabs back to Texas Urban Sawmill to have them make it. If you want your trees repurposed, be sure to call Devin and the Texas Urban Sawmill. He is very professional and easy to work with. He might even give you a tour of his "shop" including the huge sawmill. It is awesome!
