Hmmm I can see kudos points of Danni's and Rachael's reviews about Thomas Sabo.
I agree with Rachael in that when you walk past Thomas Sabo, you do rubber neck a bit when you see the combination of Barbie bling and Skull crystal bling. It is interesting to say the least, and Thomas Sabo does get points for offering us something a wee bit different. I am kinda drawn to blingy minature Converse type boot pendants, and I like the option of being able to purchase, should I choose a red enamel apple pendant. I appreciate it's diversity and I'm glad it is there. What does tend to irk me is that this creative diversity, the change from the norm comes at seriously over-inflated prices. I mean what is silver in value? £1 per gram, and I do doubt there's more than a couple of grams in each of these pendant pieces, so a £150 price tag can cause you to go a bit slack jawed.
This season seems to be leaning towards the dark and gothic style of jewellery pieces, with skulls and snakes and fleur de lys, all ionised and jet crystal set, very moody, very sombre darling. I've been past this window and seen other bightly enameled fruit and brightly coloured bling stones adorning pendants and rings, again complete with a nice fat price tag.
The argument is that Thomos Sabo is over priced and therefore overrated, and the counter argument would be yes it's expensive for what it is, but cotton is still cotton when it's been cut by Primark and when it's been cut by Prada (do Prado do anything in cotton anymore...probably not), and there's a fun novelty to many of the items, and it's personal choice if you choose to buy into these items. The novelty value is definitely there, and it makes a change to decorate yourself in something not quite high street normal.
So, you've got pendant bling for both men and women, and even kidlets too if they're stocking the Barbie line, you've got bracelets, moody and chunky, or delicate and blingy, mainly in silver, but now including a leather cord range, there's also earrings, which in my opinion are pretty Dynasty hideous, and seem to sit in contrast with the more funkier items residing here, ok what else, ah yes charms, charms and more charms, charm bracelets and charm necklaces, even charm adapters so you can hook them off your necklace, and in all sorts of bright varieties, some children style some for the grown ups too. Oh and then there are the watches, which look all very nice and pretty, but considering many have a price tag above the £300 mark and not the commendation of watch brands like Tag and Omega and other high end watch brands, they are pretty darn expensive for just the pretty.
So it's six of one, half a dozen of the other. Just pick a side. read more
