I have been seeing Dr. Andrews for 10+ years. My first appointment I seen one of the female doctors it was not a short visit, it took near 30 minuets and during that visit my wife, the doctor and I decided it was best that I participate in the outpatient treatment program. We had class time to learn the many way our environment can effect our health, group counseling and visits with Dr. Andrews. All of my appointments from that point on have always been with Dr. Andrews and NEVER has he fallen asleep, rushed or asked me to share my medications. In fact it has been quite the opposite. During the treatment program we were told many times not to socialize outside of the program. Dr. Andrews has always been very alert and attentive so much so that he spends more time with the most of his patients that when I had my appointments in the afternoon it was not uncommon that they were up to 1.5 hours late. I have since moved all of my appointments to the morning, and I do spend more than 15 minuets with him almost every time.
I did have to go threw a few different combinations of medications to find the right fit for me (there is not one magical drug that fixes everything), biology, environment and diet play a roll in how your medication works. You will have ups and downs until you find your fit.
After a few years I learned about the TMS and was excited to learn more. After doing some research I decided that I wanted to give it a try. Yes, it was painful at first and as far as I know I have run it on one of the highest more so than anyone else has done. After a while it becomes just uncomfortable and then just a little annoying. As with most things for me it took a little while for the effects to kick in and I am now only on 1 low dose medication verses the 4 plus the 1 as needed meds I was on.
Yes, with any specialist in this area it does take months to get an appointment, so get over it. Yes it can be expensive even with private insurance but I was able to work out payment plans with both the outpatient and the TMS programs.
There has been a lot of testing, however none has been irrelevant, you have to know what is going on in the brain to treat it.
I have been very satisfied with Dr. Andrews and his staff and I have recommended him to my friend and family. read more
