It is that time of the year again ... tax time. For many people the programs we can download or use…read moreonline are sufficient for preparing taxes; but for some who have uber deductions or wonky incomes you need a good accountant. Well the staffers at Thorne are excellent! To be honest and forthright, they are our corporate accountants at the office, not my actual personal accountant because (as mentioned before) I can do my taxes at home. But I do visit Thorne almost monthly for the corporate stuff. Our personal accountant in the office is great. He is always available to answer questions about General Ledger codes, or reports, or even billing. I enjoy going to their office because I am always greeting with a smile and sometimes a cookie. I drop off work for them to do and they give me a cookie? Seems like a fair trade! Their building is older, and kind of a maze, but do not let that fool you. They are great at what they do. If I had harder personal taxes I would for sure use them for that. I am glad they are around so I do not have more work to do for our company.

After a few months, I found myself thinking I needed to sort out the little messes before the mess grew. I was referred to Tax Time and I'm sure glad I called. Alan got us all set up, filed a lot of documents that needed to be caught up and is keeping on top of my business for me. I suppose if anyone needs to be in my business, it's gonna be this guy. I will say, the billing department is not good at returning calls, but Alan has always responded within 24 hours. If you're looking, this job isn't for the faint of heart but Tax Time makes it look easy while being efficient. Plus, their pricing was very reasonable in my opinion.

I would give them a zero if I could. There was a mistake on 2020 taxes. We were audited in 2023 and…read morethey failed to fix the mistake at that time. As a result we over paid by $4000.00 Now in 2026 audited by state for same year and we are ending overpaying by $1000.00 because the IRS FORWrded the mistake onto the state. For us the statue of limitations has run out to file an amended report. I talked to DBN today and I felt they had an I don't care attitude.

Trusting an unknown company with something like taxes is a big deal. You blindly turn over personal…read moreinformation for an important process that has serious implications. I did that with Higgins CPA for my 2018 taxes and it was a big mistake. They charged me $1100 JUST to go through my prior year returns and make prepaid tax estimates for 2019. They didn't even file my taxes for that cost as I pulled the plug and walked away. The hours spent reviewing my prior returns (which were very simple) were unbelievable. It is clear that this firm counts every second its employees spend (even e-mail responses get logged and invoiced) leaving the customer with a large bill. When I've told other tax professionals about my bill from them, they couldn't believe it. Stay away, I wish I had.
