However, when I went to him for a nasal polyp, he actually ended up performing two other procedures that were completely unnecessary that he never spoke of in our THREE pre-op appointments. When I signed the consent form in the pre-op room, I thought it was just the formal name of the procedure I was having done. I didn't realize until I woke up with a splint in my nose that I had a septoplasty. Technically, it wasn't illegal because I did give consent but it was completely unnecessary procedure and I am certain now that I never had to have surgery to begin with. I will always tell people to avoid his practice, but I will say that I learned an invaluable life lesson. As a patient, you have a responsibility to be your own best advocate and part of that is understanding that you are as much a person in need as you are a customer. Thankfully, I healed properly and there were no complications from the procedure, but I will never be so trusting of a health care provider again.

She was perfectly nice and spent at most 6 minutes diagnosing me. Literally. I needed tests, she said, and then concluded the visit. I went up front to pay and was informed that I owed $350. Clearly, I laughed, that was a mistake, for the visit I just had was fast and had nothing special about it. Besides, over the phone I was told $175. Well, the receptionist responded, we said they STARTED at $175; when more is done, it's more expensive. Let me remind you: NOTHING WAS DONE. $350 was a completely arbitrary number. When I balked, she said, Let me check. She came back and said, oh it's only $250. What's going on, here?

I felt as though I could really fully discuss my symptoms openly without judgement and she was listening to every word and considering everything. On another occasion, the same problem, struck me suddenly and when I called Dr Isaacs was on his way out the door and wouldn't be back in for 2 days. I was told if I came right away they would help me out, absolutely amazing. After trying other drs I have to say Mercer Street has been the best experience in NYC for me. :)

I visited QueensWest Health to attend a breastfeeding clinic hosted there by Heather McFadden. The…read moreclinic was perfect for me. It was attended by four moms and their babies, plus two grandmas. The clinic featured a scale to measure each baby's intake during the session. Heather did a great job of helping each mom with her individual problem, which ranged from very painful nipples, to latching problems, to supply issues - providing specific and helpful tips. She took time to present information useful to all moms, while also enabling some informal sharing between us new mamas at different points. The clinic has been going on for about four months at the QueensWest location, and is currently held at 11am on Fridays. The breastfeeding clinic was also my first time at Queens West Health, which is an LIC neighborhood resource that I'm glad I found. It is the home of the general practitioner / family practice of Dr. Savard and Dr. Cole, and also is home to practitioners from other specialties including massage (Earth + Sky and Balance Spa are co-located at QueensWest) as well as nutrition, pediatric speech therapy, and acupuncture, plus a few more I'm forgetting. I don't currently have a general practitioner in the neighborhood, but next time I need one I'll be visiting QueensWest.

Over time, under MY terms, we slowly started to work on my neck pain and how manipulating it over time would be a benefit. He never pushed but only accepted when I said "I wanna start small" . After 3 months of working very slowly, I don't even flinch when my neck is manipulated now. My entire family goes. My husband received physical therapy services for an injury and the other side of the office was met with care and commitment to long term healing. My teenagers go when baseball season picks up and now asks for an appointment when he is sore. When my youngest can sit still, he will most likely start preventative care. Additionally what I value most is on busy days where I need to get in and out in a short amount of time, Dr. Wycoff is very good about honoring tight time commitments when he can.
