Let me clarify this is a 4.5 star rating. Our friends at Yelp still won't give us half stars…read more After visiting Northwoods Inn, I tell people, "I had a great meal at a gas station recently.". No kidding, don't let the gas station vibes throw you, this place has great eats. We walked in through the gas station part of the building and were surprised to see the rustic decor of a medium sized dining area and an adjacent bar. It was a pretty full dining room and we sat ourselves. It didn't look promising as we saw one waitress and one bartender. However, after a brief wait, the waitress came to our table and assured us she would return as quickly as possible to get our drink and food orders. She returned as promised. Our drinks arrived a short time later. They were well made and attention was paid to get us another round as we finished the first. Our table had ribs, prime rib and a French dip sandwich. The portion size was great and the food arrived hot. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and the sauce was tasty. The prime rib had great flavor, was prepared as ordered and had very little fat. The French dip was also tasty. Truth be told, a salad bar would make this a true five star rating. The salads served with the meal were nice but very run-of-the-mill. Will we go back in the future? You betcha!

I can see the appeal. This would be a super cool place to see live music outside. We just dropped…read morein for a break on a long drive. Drinks were cheap, had a cafe & small store too. The backyard is beautifully manicured with an outdoor bar (likely only open for events), a good sized stage, waterfall (that wasn't on in mid-September of course) and lots of seating/tables.

Excellent food. Excellent price. Excellent bar. Excellent fried bread (or whatever that thing…read morewas I kept going up to get more of near the salad bar). Being not from anywhere near Green Bay or this area, I didn't really know what some of the foods people eat here are, and I'm definitely no cheese buff. I don't even really know what a supper club is. My guess it is is a place where you have a few drinks at a bar, then make your way to the dinner table area, make your own salad, and then wait for awesome homestyle food to come later. This place is definitely a unique experience of what you might find closer to the East Coast, but it was definitely delicious. That fried bread was something else too. I knew every bite was bad for my body, but was so good. So I kept eating it through the entire meal!

The bartender knows how to make cocktails correctly. I wish they would muddle their old- fashions,…read morebut when there is one bartender, that is inpossible. Dining there was not pleasant. The water in my glass was lukewarm and tasted like the pond. They need to solve that. The napkin was the size of a toilet paper square. Poor cook needs to learn to prepare more than one table of food at a time. We had 3 tables of 2 in front of us and each table received their food about 15 minutes apart. All of our tables had one of the diners having the special-the ribs. 4 of us had something else and the cook couldn't do them at once. Trust me I had plenty of time to observe. I wish them luck.

My husband and I are on a mission this summer, searching for the best Friday Fish Fry near us…read more After 10 Friday meals, Cattails is leading the way. The place is newer and very comfortable with a great bar, if you need to wait a bit for your table. We waited only 10 minutes and we did not mind. At all. A cut WAY above the rest are the Classic Old Fashioneds, served the way they should be -- heavy on your choice of bourbon and very light on the soda. (Definitely NOT Wisconsin Style.) I had a smoked Old Fashioned that was one of the best I've ever had! But the meal got better! A salad bar is not a requirement for a fish fry, but it sure goes a long way. Fresh, tasty, and a great way to start the meal. We both ordered the perch. I had a baked potato side and he had the fries. Best perch we've had -- light on breading, hot and not oily at all. Service was excellent and we decided to have a second Old Fashioned back in the bar for dessert. We'll be back!

You can't get that every where. That's why we love this place, the staff and owners are so friendly, a great hometown feel. Also they make great muddled old fashions and if you want something different try a smoked old fashion. You go to Cattails once I know your going go back.
