I think this is my new favorite spot for dinner in New Smyrna. WOW. What. A. Meal. The service was on point, even though it was raining outside. We were lucky enough to be moved to a table inside (it's a small space at the coffee shop) and we had such a fun dinner. We ordered a TON of food and did not hesitate to stuff our faces - and it was worth every single calorie. Appetizers: The spinach artichoke dip was phenomenal, probably the best I've ever tasted. The charcuterie was beautiful and tasted just as good - we got extra bread so we could finish every last bite. The pizza was AMAZING too and I could've eaten the whole thing myself. The fish dip was soo flavorful and a fun appetizer to share with the huge crackers. Entrees: My husband had the seafood pasta that I couldn't try, but the rest of the table was raving about it! The side of brussels was pretty good but nothing super special compared to the rest of the dishes. My wagyu short ribs were everything I'd hoped they'd be and more. The 1905 wedge was so unique and tasty and extremely refreshing. We ended the night with espresso martinis that were made fresh in the shop and they were delicious. We decided to eat inside because it was EXTREMELY hot the day we visited and we figured it would be more quiet inside. Great food with a wonderfully charming setting. Drinks are well done and the service (our waitperson was Shauna) is excellent and friendly. We did the artisanal bread and oil, olives and manchego, and Brussels. The Brussels are fantastic, and interesting because they have honey, Calabrian chilis and mint. The bread is excellent quality. Yesterday, I ate the frittata and today I had the steak n eggs. Both were delicious. The frittata came with a micro greens salad with a yummy dressing to top it off. The environment in the coffee shop is chill, whereas the back restaurant is trendy and lively. This place is perfect for coffee, cocktails, breakfast, lunch, and dinner! This place is a hidden gem in New Smyrna Beach. It has this laid-back, backyard feel to it. Staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome right away. Food was delightful. The shrimp and grits were flavorful, the buffalo chicken crepe was a pleasant twist and the Third Wave's salad was refreshing. Would definitely return to explore more of their menu. After the rain ruined our chances at the beach, my friend and I stopped by for brunch. This cafe has indoor and outdoor seating, but we had to go with indoor due to the horrid weather. To start, there was only 2 menus in the entire indoor portion and they were by the registers. We waited about 20 minutes to see the menu but the line was so long we looked it up on our phones. When the line died down, we finally went up to order. I asked for the Bronx bagel without salmon, but they would not accommodate. Next, I asked for the French toast and was told it was no longer on the menu. Looks like all menus online are out of date. Major issue if you aren't going to have easy access to menus indoors. Finally, I found something they did still offer - the Bananas Foster toast. The dish was banana bread, caramel rum sauce ( tasted like maple syrup), banana pieces, and pecans. Did not include the whipped cream as the menu stated but was still absolutely delicious. I would definitely order it again. read more

Third Wave remains the restaurant in NSB. They added heaters to the area so even though there was a chill in the air we were nice and warm outside. They have a great wine list at a diverse price. Wow! This place is incredible! Went on a Saturday, they close at 2:00 and reopen later, wish I had more time, I'd have ordered stuff to go home! Our server was Isaiah, very nice guy, courteous and polite and knew the menu and helped with our choices- all of them excellent! I had my favorite- Shrimp 'N' Grits, which I order every chance I get, and these were the best I ever had. My son had a Buffalo Crepe and a Caramel Crepe, he went nuts about them. My husband ordered 2 pizzas- The New Yorker and a Buffalina, for all of us to eat, they were both delicious, and he ordered a fish sandwich that I got a bite from, it was super tasty. This is very simple, yet creative food. My husband went to the kitchen to thank the chef- Josh was working that day, not the main chef, but holding the fort down perfectly! Sustainably sourced seafood, and incredibly delicious! The octopus was cooked perfectly, which is quite unusual. And the flavor of the veggies was to die for. their salmon is wild, also unusual and much more delicious. I love that they topped the dishes with Microgreens. This place is where I want to go every time I visit Florida. The outside patio takes you into a secret tropical oasis. The service was phenomenal. My Blueberry Mule was refreshing. My pastrami sandwich was probably the best Sandwich I have ever had. Tender, juicy meat topped with homemade horseradish, aoli, grilled onions on a tender bun. The roasted potatoes were dreamy. Been here a few times with family around the holidays and the food is always excellent. The servers are always very kind and helpful in deciding what to order. There's a cafe/bar area you can eat and drink upstairs. If you want a proper sit down option, the outdoor seating gives a cozy vibe and has heaters on in the winter months so you don't get chilly. The restaurant also decorates around the holidays with ornaments hanging above. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone as they have some unique menu items, menu items for people with different tastes, and great appetizers. Ps- the wait has never been as long as the hosts tell you. I've been quoted upwards of 90 minutes wait for a party of 4 on a Saturday night (weekend after Thanksgiving), but it was definitely under 45 minutes. read more

Gosh, this is the second chance we are giving Third Wave and again sadly disappointed. Service was slower than molasses, ambience is always good. The cheese and fruit board was not the greatest, three hard, dry cheeses, honey, jamand nothing to put it on. We has to order some bread. 3/14/2021- Best brunch in NSB hands down. In a sea of beach bars and fried and greasy food, Third Wave is a breath of fresh air and a mouthful of amazing food! Saw this place driving by and their outdoor seating area caught my attention along with it being a place to get coffee. We decided to come by. We grabbed a menu and some chairs outside and were pleasantly surprise by their food fare. From Shrimp and Grits, Southwestern Hash, Steak and Eggs to Island Run French Toast. My eyes immediately went to that. We went inside to place the order then sat outside to people watch. We ordered grapefruit and cranberry juice. The Steak and Eggs and Island Rum French Toast. We ended up splitting both dishes and couldn't be happier. The steak was so flavorful and tender, eggs were over easy, the potato hash was perfect! And it came with slices of avocado. I'd say this is the perfect dish. Next time I'll get my own. The Island Rum French Toast was to die for. Best thing I've had in a long time. Definitely recommend! There is an entire back area restaurant. It is first come first serve so make sure you plan ahead. Will absolutely be back for brunch and dinner next time I'm in town. read more

We tried their Cranberry Citrus Chicken Salad Sandwich and the Burrata Margherita pizza, I highly recommend the pizza! It was fantastic. Wow, finally another exceptional restaurant in North-East Florida. We moved here from California 6 months ago and have found only a few places with well-prepared, interesting food. Third Wave Cafe is sure to please. Expect to wait if you don't get there when they open at 4:30 pm, but it's worth it. We were walking by at 4:30 and it was a bit early for dinner, but so stopped by for one of the best Old Fashions I've ever been served. When we saw some of the food coming out to the other tables, we decided to share a Wedge Salad (unlike others with it's spicy 1000-Island) and their famous Pastrami Rib Board with house-made sauerkraut, spicy 1000-Island, pickles, and mustard, and hot garlic buns. It was deliciously smoked (slightly, not too smoky), tender, jucy, and enough for two people if you're not starving. Our server was Julie, who has been there since they opened years ago. She was a delight with her happy personality and knowledge of their food. If you're in New Smyrna Beach, do yourself a favor and make it a plan to eat and drink here.
