What a truly terrible experience I had here. Can't say much about the vet himself, but the admin…read morestaff especially the manager are horrible. We recently moved to St Lucia from interstate and needed to fill a prescription for our cat when I called the vet to organise this they got me to have my previous vet send across my cats medical history and they would call me when the medication was in stock. Almost a week later I called up chasing the medication only to be told that they always have it in stock but I could not get it because the vet was not taking new animals and he needed to see my cat before giving it to him. Now you would think that because I wasn't told this they would just say look, we can do it this once but you'll need to find another vet, but no, the manager just made excuse after excuse, blaming covid and their 17 year old nephew who was filling in on that day (like you wouldn't think to give the kid answering the phone a heads up that you aren't taking new clients? Kid if you read this, I'm sorry the adults in your life threw you under the bus and then tried to get you to call and apologise, this was their fault not yours). The manager, or anyone else there did not think to maybe called when they saw the email with my cats medical history to let me know that I needed to sort something else out, instead my cat has run out of medication. The manager told me that all vets stock this type of medication but good luck getting an appointment due to covid (which then, again, leaves you asking well can't you just sort it this one time since this is your mistake). I made one phone call and got an appointment the following day. I really hope this vet cares more for animals and has better service for customers than his admin staff because they are shocking, especially the manager, who I'd say would have been let go a long time ago had it not been a family business. I wish I could rate it zero stars

I've been taking my two dogs to this surgery over the past two years and found them to be exceptional. All the staff are so lovely and helpful, including the girls at the front desk. Their prices are competitive and they give quality advice and support. I've even contacted the vet after hours on the weekends to get advice when worried about my dog's health and been reassured on what to do. Turns out 'wait and see how he wakes up tomorrow' is usually the best advice as my dog can be a little lame one day and then running laps at the dog park the next. Honest and sensible advice is what you'll get. I've found both vets, Susan and Rod to be very caring, gentle and really down to earth.

Formally The Affordable Vet, this clinic offers exceptional service at a significantly lower cost than most other clinics in the area. I take my puppy dog here for her annual vaccination, it costs $70.00. I have paid up to $140.00 at other clinics over the years, which is double the price. The quality of service is by no means inferior to any other vet I have visited, in fact this is one of the best vets I have used over the years which is why I have been a loyal customer now for over three years. The clinic, in addition to veterinary care, offers a variety of other services including puppy pre-school, grooming services, health clinics and $5 hydro-baths on weekends, they also have a pet taxi available for house calls - so cute!

Having moved to the area, the faithful pooch's care was recently transferred to Mitchelton Vets mostly due the their proximity. Much like doctors surgery, there's nothing too outwardly different than any other vet surgery and, much like a doctor surgery you hope you never have to spend a lot of time in them. Our dog Budhi (Japanese Spitz) had just come to live with us (we adopted her at 1.5 years old) and she had started throwing up her food every morning. Being a bit worried, and the consult fee here is pretty comparative $55-$59 we thought we'd give them a try. Dr Antje Costanzo saw our dog and was very good at telling us what to do, how to fast and other options to make her feel better. I also wanted to know a bit more about Advantix verses the Advocate that I had been using because they didn't cover worming... and Andrew at the counter was very good at pointing me in the right direction. We left feeling pretty good about our visit. Having said that, we usually feel pretty good about vets when we leave unless we're going there to put a dog down. What really blew us away was the follow up call 2 days later from Antje herself asking us how we were going and if everything was okay. And if there was anything please let her know... we had never received a follow up call from a vet before nor our own pet folder. So this definetely impressed us and we will definetely be back.

Every time we walk in, my puppy Churro and I are happily greeted by the staff. Churro particularly likes Andrew (the cool guy at reception) and whenever they see each other at the vet, my pup does a little pee because of all the excitement. The staff are so friendly and helpful. They always play with Churro while we wait for our appointment and love to exchange tips and share stories about other pets they've met. Dr Lucilla Pratt is Churro's vet. She is very patient with my impatient puppy who squirms- a lot! On the first visit we had, Churro was so anxious and seemed scared, Dr Lucilla gave him a dried pigs ear treat for him to teethe on- after that, they became best of friends. Dr Lucilla is always happy answer all the questions I have and even writes little notes to help me. After every check up, Churro is guaranteed cuddles and playtime with Dr Lucilla, which is just so heart warming to see. It's great to go to a vet who seem to love and care about your pet as much as you do. They have a lot of goodies in stock for your pet and great products. Andrew at reception is very helpful, if you're stuck with any questions I'm sure he'd be happy to help.
Frenchs Forest Veterinary Surgery
Have you ever had your dog tug on his leash with excitement because he cannot WAIT to get into the…read morevet surgery? I never had till I started taking my dog to French's Forest vet. It should go without saying but the staff here all really love animals and it shows. Often I've been sitting in the waiting room with my dog and a vet nurse on her way out the door at the end of her shift will come over just to play with my dog and give him cuddles. My dog can be quite shy, but to see him sooking all over the staff and giving them big kisses, you'd never know it. On your first visit you get a personalised report about your animal. For example they made comments about how brave my dog was getting his nails trimmed and how good his teeth were with the comment "Keep up the bone-chewing!". Very cute. I think the biggest testament to how the staff here treat their patients is after getting my boy desexed, he still couldn't wait to go back into the surgery and see all his new friends. When my dog needed some anti-histamine cream, one of the staff gave me a little sample in a jar for free rather than making me pay for a tube. Their service is just excellent, they're all very knowledgeable and the prices are reasonable.

All the staff at Clayfield Vet are friendly, helpful and explain things in a clear manner. They all have a wonderful bedside manner and can even manage to control my 'big boy' who does not liked being held or patted. They give you options based on a case by case basis. They will often consult each other and/or other medical professionals on cases which I think is wonderful because you can get more information and better service this way. This is a family run business and they treat every one of their patients and their humans with dignity and respect. They will often do follow up calls in a few days to see how your pet is progressing after they leave the surgery. Boss, the resident cat is really cute (and cheeky) too and loves to be petted and have a game with you. If you do not want Boss near you or your pet, you just have to let the nurses know and they will move him to another room instantly. I cannot praise Clayfield Vet highly enough.

Don't worry about bringing your pets into Boss's territory, he's quite friendly. If anything, he just hasn't figured out yet that not everyone wants to be friends with him. The vets will intervene if he ruffles anyone's feathers. There are four vets there who you can see, all of them have at least 10 years experience. You're onto the goods with these guys. I've only ever had an appointment with Dr Gray, and I'm happy to report that she gives down to earth, common sense advice. She's not going to suggest you spend more money than you have to on superfluous items for your pet if you don't need them. Her bed side manner with pets is second to none. She's relaxed, and she knows how to get things done. She won't waste your time. Also, she explains things in a way that makes everything seem as easy as A B C. For any international travellers, Clayfield Vet Clinic can help you out with all the checks you need to go through before your pet can be exported to another land. That's a service not provided by the majority of vet clinics as it requires special accreditation. Bonus! Clayfield Vet Clinic is quite popular, and so I'd advise making an appointment. You can usually get in the same day or the next day. Another good thing- it's an independent family owned practice- now if that doesn't get your vote, what does? Most importantly, It's obvious that all of the vets there are doing what they love. It's not the daily grind for these folk, that's fo' sho'.
