This has by far been the most stressful, frustrating hair coloring experience i've had in all my years of professional dying. I had booked a coloring partial highlight with Vanessa. Black to silver. Since it's hard to get to silver or a light color because of previous dye, I was NOT expecting my hair to go platinum right away. She mentions this and I agree to still coming in and at least getting the placement done. I had a gut feeling right away when she wouldn't make conversation with me at all throughout the 3 hours. I definitely felt awkward about that. She said she would perform a balayage instead, since what i'm asking for is more aligned with it. I explained to her that i wanted to keep my black/have a touch up on the top half of my hair. Well I walked out with 2000s patchy highlights that don't even transition smoothly. Not even close to a balayage. All over the top of my head I'm so embarrassed to even put my hair up in a pony tail. I ran out of that salon crying my eyes out I just felt like I got robbed of everything. It gets worse. I come home and my mom and friends are freaking out, trying to see what went wrong. That's when i went back to the salon to see what had gone wrong and that I was not satisfied with my service. Even professionals I consulted said that Vanessa didn't do a good job. I was met with Sarcasm, defensiveness, and NO accountability of how Vanessa messed up my hair and did a sloppy job. My mom said "If you want to fix this please make sure no charging. She already paid for this service" Sarcastically and with attitude, Vanessa responds with "Yeah I KNOW. I've been working for a long time I know how this works." My mom was just showing concern and wanting clarification. The moment that had happened, I immediately dropped any thought of walking into that damn salon again. Lizzie comes up and says "How can we help you" Lizzie talks to Vanessa and without Vanessa knowing my mom was in the room, she says "She wants to talk to me AGAIN?" Jesus christ. Vanessa brings up personal issues as an excuse for unsatisfactory work. And still hasn't apologized, or held accountability via email as well. "I have a home and kids to get to.. blah blah blah" Everyone has matters to attend. But that has NOTHING to do with me. I'm just a client who asked for kindness and compassion especially after this horrible hair I have to live with until it gets fixed. Another perk: she stays later than most stylists - allowing those of us with day jobs, or in need of more than a few hours to do errands on Sundays - to still get in an appointment for the weekend. My second visit was with the owner, and she was equally awesome - had some great suggestions, took my own input about my blowout, and we scheduled for an upcoming appointment to help write in my highlights.
