I'm very conflicted, service is mixed. I ordered a cake, first person was nice but wasn't sure about prices, they don't have a price book for employees to reference? :( I called again and the 2nd person was very, very professional, kind and helpful!! She put in my order ($50 cake) and when I arrived on the day my order was ready. I ordered this cake for a birthday that's immediately after Christmas and I had a hard time finding a bakery that could provide this type of cheesecake (raspberry) under these conditions, so I was very impressed at the professionalism and availability. But then the woman at the counter tried to charge me $75 for my cake even though the ticket taped on the box said in big sharpie letters "my name, $50" $75 vs $50 is a very big difference in price for an 8" single layer cheesecake. I corrected her and she asked me to wait for someone to show up to confirm the price.... But I didn't see her confer with anyone and again the price was written on the order ticket. After waiting about 5min she was ready to take my payment and said $50 was okay but didn't apologize or explain the confusion as to why she tried to charge me more. That doesn't feel good, if it was a "mix-up" then just tell me so I can make an informed decision next time. With no explanation provided it doesn't feel like a "mix-up" or even honest. The cake tastes really great, I love the people who helped me on the phone, I love that this bakery was available and flexible, and clearly they are very popular and well-loved. I have no idea if I'd come back though. I see another reviewer saying that they didn't receive the correct change. I don't understand why such beautiful high quality confections need to have this weirdness attached. read more

This was one of those booths in the West Side Market that we walked past and quickly circled back to take a better look. The stand was packed and seems to be really busy even for a Wednesday. The bakery had such a good vibe and the atmosphere was exciting with everyone talking about at all the options and goodies. Staff was friendly and mentioned Theresa's Bakery opened 23 years ago in the West Side Market. They emphasized that the bakery is family owned and when it was our turn, walked us though some of the most popular items. Everything looked so good but we decided on a Cheesecake Cannoli, a Cannoncini (Cream Horn), and a Chocolate Eclair. All were delicious but my favorite was the eclair. I live 1 1/2 hours away from here thank God or I'd be 1,000 pounds!! They have the best cannoli I have ever had! They are amazing and the ladies always have the best customer service! Today I tried macarons (birthday cake and lemon) and they were SO good. My daughter bought the Dubai cake and we are going to try it tomorrow but it looks amazing!! Located in the West Side Market, Theresa's Bakery has two stalls and the baked goods are very attractive to the eye. Cake rolls stacked high, overflowing with filling, they called to us like flowers to a bee. They specialize in filled cannoli, many flavors of macarons, rolls, cream puffs, and a lot more. The chocolate cake roll, while massive, was dry, and the abundant filling was creme rather than real whipped cream. The west side market has two Theresa's booths. At one, I got a cheesecake cookie sandwich and a mini key lime pie. At the other, I got a Reeces cheesecake. Everything was tasty. HOWEVER, I don't think I could EVER give my money to this bakery again after the experience I had. First off, I went to make my second purchase and they said there was a $10 minimum for credit cards. My dad also purchased something right before me that was less than $10 and they gave him absolutely no issues. So I didn't understand why he was allowed but I wasn't ? Odd. Then the lady used her BARE HANDS, that she had been handling everyone's money and cards, to manhandle my cheesecake. PUKE!!!! And I kindly asked if she could get me a new one while using gloves. She stared at me, then told her employees how "she's doesn't want this because I didn't have gloves on" then THEW the package on the counter, not even closing it all the way. OMG! Fortunately, they were still open even though almost all the other vendors had closed early. Everything in their display cases appeared fantastic. Bought 3 macarons here and got one free . Great catch right . I gave the girl a $50 to pay and when she gave me my money back she said oh you gave me a $20 right and told her no I gave you a $50 . They counted the register and supposedly it all was good. I know I handed her a large bill. I pretty much got robbed. Hands down the best cannolis I've ever had! So many choices, and everything looks absolutely amazing

I got the lemon bomb cake and it was totally lacking lemon flavor. Definitely not worth $6.50

The cake was way over priced for being inedible. The buttercream was gritty and had a rancid flavor. I don't think it had been properly stored. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. You can find much better in Cleveland. read more

The lady working was not very friendly seem to be in a bad mood. We ordered the special buy 4 cannolis get 2 free, balaclava and the cheesecake cone. All of the pre made cannolis were gone so we asked if she could make more and she agreed. When we arrived home an 1.5 hour later we noticed she only filled the ends with cream and left the whole center empty. We also asked for the white filling cream and she used the chocolate. (Would not recommend). The balaclava was good. However the cheesecake cone was not impressive. She didn't even listen to us and the stuff wasn't fresh no wonder it wasn't busy. First time visit to WSM. Stopped at Theresa's Bakery to buy some macarons to give our daughter as a gift. The young woman who waited on us was rude; yes, it was busy, but I couldn't see the case well to pick out flavors so I guess she thought I was taking too long. Anyway, when we got home, I opened the box and found that she had given us one macaron that was a complete mess. Both sides of the fragile cookie were completely gone, and it had not broken in the box-there were not pieces of that cookie in the box. She obviously gave us a defective cookie and didn't care. These cookies are delicate. I am so disappointed that she knew she was giving us a crappy $2.50 cookie. Bad business. I won't be back. read more

We went to the Westside Market in Cleveland, Ohio. There we found Theresa's Bakery. Their counter display of fancy desserts was enticing enough to get us to buy a few thing to take home for later. I had my eye on their chocalate cover overloaded Cream Puffs. I asked, "Is this real cream?"Oh yes!" Two ladies answered, great, I'll take that big one. They had these awesome looking cannolis $3.50 each for the large ones or 5 small ones for $10. OK, I'll take the 5 for $10. What a joke! The cannolis weren't just small, they were so tiny, not even as wide as my index finger. The little bit of filling didn't fill the centers, I felt so ripped off. I should have asked to see them first. There wasn't any "small cannollis" in the display case, if anyone had seen them first, they wouldn't have sold any. As for the cream puffs, believe me it's not real cream, believe me. Doesn't taste like it, not even close. Just tons of this artificial white cream. Yuck! How can anyone stand there and lie to their hundreds of customers all day long. Veggies, fruits, meats, poultry and fish is so much fresher and cheaper at your regular grocery store. If you want a deal on veggies and fruit? Go there during the last 45 minutes, as they are closing up. read more

While walking through the west side market a neon sign spoke to me and said "cannoli made to order". I had to stop and order some. And we are not just talking about your normal filled cannoli, they have a huge variety from Butterfinger, snickers, pistachio and nutella, just to name a few. They are all really delicious. Oh my goodness, I'm in heaven. I'm not sure why sweets make girls so happy. For me, it's quite the euphoric effect- I take one bite, and if it's good, it elicits a "mmmmm" and a happy smile on my face. It reminds me of the days when I was a chubby eight year old, who would open the freezer EVERY night to grab for the ice cream that always was so plentifully supplied. I was one chubby little girl. My best friend came in from Chicago, and we headed out to West Side Market. We both have a horrible sweet tooth, so we stopped by Theresa's Bakery stand. So many choices. Should we get the cakes? Cannolis? Baked pastries? A friend had told us prior to our stop that we MUST get the monk cake. We decided on the monk cake and the pumpkin cheesecake. Each one of the desserts became our favorites. My fave? The monk cake. I LOVE LOVE LOVE dark chocolate. A small chocolate cake, mixed with chocolate mousse and raspberry filling, enveloped in a dark chocolate shell... perhaps dusted with a little espresso?. I'm not sure why it's called monk cake (there's some story behind it), but oh my goodness, that's one tasty cake. It's rich and oh so good. I kind of wish the cake was a little more moister and less dense, but still, overall, great great great. My friend liked the pumpkin cheesecake the best. It was a light cheesecake with a walnut bottom and a flavored pumpkin flavored cream on top. Nice and light and very pumpkin-y. I'm not usually a fan of cheesecake, but this one was sure good. I've never left a review on here but this situation has irked me all day. Seems like others have had similar experiences to me with negative customer service. I have gotten desserts several times from this stand and this experience was very disappointing. It was my birthday and we ordered a bunch of variety of desserts and they forgot to package my cannolis which was really disappointing when we got home. However, I knew this was an accident and it is what it is. The issue I had was when I went back to settle the issue. They had no problem giving me what I ordered the day before but she had given me white and normal chocolate chips on my chocolate chip cannolis. I politely asked her if they had white chocolate as well on them and she said no. Opened the box and they had white chocolate and since I already came all the way back out to the west side market - I started to ask her if she could just exchange at least one of them for a classic chocolate chip since I saw some on the shelf and very rudely stated she is out of the normal and to have a nice day - basically blowing me off. I don't have a problem with saying you're out of something I DO have a problem with being rude and the way it was handled. Seems like the younger employees are more polite overall based on my experiences and others. We will be going to euro sweets from now on, they look like they have an impressive spread and we have had positive customer experiences so far! read more

Back in Louisiana we have a saying when something is really good, we say it is "Slap yo Mama good." These cannolis...they classify for that saying. My teenager and I have recently been trying out different cannolis and after reading about Theresa's I made sure to hunt it down and get us a sample box. They have a great deal that for every 3 you purchase you get 1 free so I made us a box of 4 to sample. 1 Nutella, 1 Caramel, 1 Traditional and I asked the lady assisting me to tel me her favorite. Without hesitation she said Snickers. I am a huge Snickers lover myself so I took her advice and it rounded out our pack. 4 fresh cannolis only cost me $9. I could not wait to try them --- but I waited until I got home so my daughter and I enjoy them together. And enjoy them we did! The started with the Caramel and the Nutella. Both were very good. We are huge caramel fanatics in this family so we are picky about our caramel things. This was exceptionally good. The shell was almost like a cookie and the filling was light and fluffy very flavorful but NOT overpowering on sweetness. I can easily say I could eat one this size (these were the large ones $3 each) and not be overly full or sick from the sweetness. They are a little messy with the caramel drizzled on them but we still ate them with our hands and enjoyed every messy bite! We also loved the Nutella one just as much. but is is a bit sweeter to me. One whole one might be heavy on the sweetness for me...maybe I will test it out next time to be sure ha ha ha! 2 was our limit though and we put the other two away in the fridge and had them the following night. A night in the fridge did make the shell a bit softer on the bottom but that's OK - not their fault! We loved the traditional, but did not care so much for the Snicker. Sadly as much as we liked the middle we did not like the peanut consistency on the ends. Glad we did try it though. All in all a greta experience. On my list for my next visit is one of their HUGE cream puffs I saw in the case! And no I will not share it! :-) read more

Bad pastries, bad service, bad owners! We were in town for the weekend from out of state, and the market was recommended to us. We went thru the market and eyed a cherry strudel at Theresa's bakery stand D-8. We bought that and a half portion of Grandma's nut roll. We left right after that for our trip back home. My husband decided that night to have a small slice of the strudel, and upon eating it, ran across something sharp that cut his tongue. He was ok and didn't need stitches or anything. I thought maybe it could be a small part of a pit from the cherry mixture. I was going to take the strudel to work to share, but after that decided against it. I called the bakery the next morning to see if there were other complaints and at least to let them know. The owner was extremely rude, questioning if I even purchases it there. I still had the box and took a picture and told her I had the label that was how I was able to contact her. She proceeded to argue that there was never a issue with their struedel. I told her I believed her and had spent $10 for it, and had to throw it away. After much back and forth, she reluctantly told me she would mail me a check. That was over 2 weeks ago, and many phone calls later, still no check. Horrible place, horrible experience. Shame on them for such bad customer service! read more

I went to the West Side Market with a couple of friends on a whim to gather a nice meal for ourselves. I was in charge of desserts and baked goods. I got Amaretto Canoli, Chocolate Monk Cakes, Lemon-Strawberry Cheesecake, Apple Fritter, and a loaf of Roasted Garlic Parmesan bread. All of it was, and as left overs still is, AMAZING. In particular the monk cake and garlic parmesean bread. If you love chocolate, then the cake is certainly for you! It's rich, thick, and dark without being bitter. It's taken me two days to eat it, and I'm not complaining! For everything I paid approximately $35, which considering the load was a steal! Absolutely amazing! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. First off, I have owned a store on W.25 St. for over 3 years and have eaten lots of delicious bakery from Theresa's. Until today. The guy that works for me got me a sticky bun. I usually get their apple fritters because they're out of this world. I went to take a bite of the sticky bun and it was hard as a rock. I thought it might be softer on the inside so I tore it apart. It was dry and hard all the way through. So I schlepped it back to the WSM. I told the girl behind the counter (I was smiling) that the bun was dry and stale. She talked to another girl then gave me my money back. I asked if they had anymore and was told by the owner (cute young blonde with a pony tail) that I complained so I got my money back and she stomped away. I really wanted to buy something else but she was such a snot she refused. Then I asked what her name was and she whips around and say can't you see I'm busy you have to wait. She then told me she was the owner, that I had complained enough, and got my money back and again stomped away. That's it! I wanted to buy something else. So much for their lame customer service. I did not deserve to be treated like this. She was a complete bitch. And it's vendors like this that ruin the reputation of the WSM selling stale goods to people from the burbs. They get home and discover what they bought was stale, rotten, old whatever. And they're not going to drive all the way back to the WSM to return it. They just won't return to the WSM. I hope this owner feels real good about herself. I have people in my store all the time wanting to know where to go in the WSM, who specializes in what, who sells the best goods. I will let them all know Theresa's Bakery sucks. read more
