We just ran into Colleen at Thr Henna Lady tent while exploring the South of the James farmers market at Forest Hills Park in Richmond. She was doing a gorgeous and colorful henna creation on a young girl and my sister wanted to get a small design, so while she was doing that I was looking around their tent and then flipping through the design book, i decided to get one as well. Henna is temporary and painless, so if you want some body decorations but don't want something permanent, give it a try. I didn't realize that you can get colorful glitter with henna, so you can work with Colleen on a custom look and design. I think it would also be a fun small group activity with friends to have a henna party, which is something The Henna Lady can coordinate. They offer a variety of services, including face painting and temporary tattoos. I think if you were having a party this would be a really fun and unique addition. If you happen to be at the South of the James farmers market, be sure and find the Henna Lady booth and check it all out, it was just $5 for a small design and about $15 for a larger more detailed design. A friend and I saw Colleen at her stand at the south of the James farmers market a few weeks ago and after checking her out online decided to go this past Saturday...we were so excited to get our hands done and I went first after picking my design and then she was going to go next...the entire experience was soured due to Colleen rushing through my henna and when my friend made a comment that she was going very fast she said "well when I have a line of children here" and seemed annoyed that she had to have our business. We had both been there before the line but she still saw a few of the kids before my friend. Luckily my friend was not in a rush so she waited but we both felt rushed and like we were an annoyance to Colleen. My henna design is patchy and crooked in a lot of spots and the entire experience was off putting. Will not be back and definitely would not recommend. read more

I hired Colleen for a party I threw for my daughter this past weekend , she was a hit! From the initial communication to use her services to her professionalism at the actual event, she has been a pleasure to work with. She is upfront in her costs and her billing process is simple. She arrived at the agreed upon time, was professional and is very talented. All of my guests were able to receive henna services, my teen daughters were especially happy to have this experience. Collen's work is terrific - she is one of the best, if not the best, henna artist around. Her designs are beautiful, and she'll work with you if you have something in mind. The henna she uses is quality and lasts longer (two weeks+ on average) than any I've had before. She does pregnant bellies (what a great baby shower gift), too!! read more
