I then called last week to see if Ron the original owner was there and that's when I had Regine starting off being short, condescending & rude. She pulled the "dumb emplyee" role and didn't say she was the new owner, clearly lacking confidence. That was the first red flag. I booked a float to use up my 2 credits, as my home had burnt down in a horrible fire and I hadn't been in the area for 2.5 years. After my recent float she proceeded to say I owe $60. Now let me tell you, first time new customers get $10 off and the float is $50. I only found out the next day about her new client policy upon going online. I told her I had 2 float credits and that's when she became manic, raising her voice & irrational. I still didn't know she was the owner and she was still pretending to be just an employee and then picked up the phone and dialed 911 to involve the cops!!!! 911, you have got to be serious!!! She wasn't trying to be accommodating by any means. My 2 credits were there and I believe she deleted them once I had started my float because she knew who I was based on the phone call three days prior when I was asking about Ron the owner & if he had finished construction on adding 2 new tanks. He was a good man & a great owner. I proceeded to have her call the owner and then she non shalantly told me she doesn't tell anybody she IS the owner and that I WAS GOING TO PAY $60 for my float before I leave or else! My original 2 credits that HER EMPLOYEE told me I had less than 2 weeks prior were all of a sudden...expired. Then she told me she purchased the business in 2024, but actually it was 2025. I checked in August 2025 about my 2 credit floats & they were still there. Magically they disappeared while I was in the tank. Regine is a thief! A bad, poor business owner who had the audacity to call me belligerent on the phone when I was inquiring about Ron. I don't drink alcohol, so therefore I could not be belligerent but she was extremely insulting, disrespectful and a basically an unhinged c***. She removed my 2 credits to be spiteful & she purposely charged me $60 when her policy is $50 for a new client and if I was a new client to her, she should have honoured what she's putting out there. $10 off $60. Her hours keep changing online, just in the last 2 weeks. No one answers the phone on a regular basis matching the hours. She has poor business practices and she will not sustain her business with her rude attitude and disrespect plus being a thief and stealing from a customer. I was a long-term client of Newport Float when Ron owned it and he had a strong following. The 4.9 Star reviews are from Ron, NOT Regine & her lack of manners, self respect & her condescending attitude. There are other float companies out there and I definitely DO NOT recommend this one. The float tank isn't clean and has a musky smell proving she is not keeping up with the health code cleanliness, I'm sure CDC would like to see her tanks. Upon reading some negative reviews about her, I see that she steals from other people as well.

What a gem in Costa Mesa, providing the public with free meditation classes (donations are always welcome!). Gil and Marilyn are SO welcoming, and somehow manage to remember everyones names. The first time I came in was by myself for the Wednesday night group practice led by Gil. The next time I came in was with my cousin, who had no prior meditation experience at all, and she loved it. I randomly found this place online when I was looking to get back into meditation a few months after I completed a Vipassana course. Although Shambhala is different, the 7:00pm class opens with an introduction and instruction to approaching this style of meditation. Note that the space itself is *behind* the Coco's. If you're facing the restaurant, to left you'll find a hall that you pass through. Make a turn towards the salon and you'll find the Meditation Center. The space is warm and clean, be sure to check in with Marilyn or Sepi at the front desk to say that you're new. You take off your shoes (you might want to wear socks) and enter the meditation hall closed off by silkscreen doors. No need to bring pillows or a bloc as very comfortable ones are already provided for you. For those who have trouble sitting cross legged or kneeling on the floor, there are three ample rows of chairs behind the floor seating. The temperature is mild--I wore a jean jacket with a t-shirt underneath and was comfortable the whole session. After practicing two sets of walking and sitting meditation, the class sat in a circle and read a chapter from The Lost Art of Good Conversation, by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. The discussion that followed provides an excellent connection between how the physical and mental exercise of meditation translates to our everyday lives. You have nothing to lose by dropping in. I hope to provide an updated review after attending one of their Saturday sessions or courses. For a fee, they have really cool contemplative arts seminars.
