The Yard takes milkshakes to the next level! Their specialty milkshakes in pint jars have crazy combos like The Buckeye with buckeyes & The Cereal Killer loaded with fruity pebbles! All of their toppings are delicious and their vegan ice cream is great! On top of the milkshakes they have a ton of different edible cookie doughs, floats and ice cream bars! Check it out!
This place is extremely expensive, but they have BLUE BELL ICE CREAM! Blue Bell ice cream is my favorite! Now, I don't have to travel down south to get it. My kids really enjoyed this place, but my wallet didn't. The customer service was not bad. They offer a lot of different treats, but due to the prices, I wouldn't include this in my ice cream routine, unless I am going solo. Customer Service 1-5=3. Ice Cream 1-5=5! Simply because it is Blue Bell!
We were out celebrating my husbands birthday at Arch City Tavern and I knew I wanted to find somewhere with milkshakes because he loves them. A quick search on Apple Maps took us to The Yard. Only a 6min walk down High Street (0.3miles)! It was cold and we were regretting our decision when we finally arrived. From the outside, I wouldn't have thought it was a milkshake bar. The branding is very clean and simple with a black sign and white lettering - unlike the milkshakes they build! Not that they're messy - they're ornate, colorful, and not simple, in a good way! The menu is a bit extensive between the milkshakes, loaded cones, and other goodies. They sell ice cream by the scoop for non-milkshake lovers out there. Blue Bell ice cream is one of the best out there! It's so creamy and flavorful. My son got the Cookies n Worms and it was really good! I thought the milkshake would be overly sweet but it wasn't. Besides the usual Oreos and gummy worms, you also get a small scoop of cookie dough. My husband got the Cookie Dough Delicious. It came with a chocolate rim of mini chocolate chips, a large scoop of cookie dough, and whipped cream topping. He loved it! The biggest surprise was that each one was about $17. You do get to take home the glass tumbler the milkshake comes in, so that's a nice souvenir for sure. Overall, it was a fun treat and I would suggest going there at least once if you like milkshakes! The fact that they serve Blue Bell would be a cause for visiting again for a scoop of ice cream.
Cookie dough Delicious. It was ok. Not very flavorful. Maybe 1 cup of runny milkshake, shake was mostly whipped topping below half of jar to above it. Chocolate chips covered top of jar were stale. 1 scoop of cookie dough in the entire shake. That was it for cookie dough. Manager who made our shake was touching her hair before putting gloves on, did not wash her hands then actually wiped her mouth w gloved hands. Highly disappointed after this highly anticipated visit. Would not by any means recommend this establishment. Side note: I asked employee if she was the manager since she was the only working the front, she said she was. When my daughters and I entered the front, there were no employees for 3-4 minutes, when the one employee did come out from the back there was no greeting no welcome no hello. Not very welcoming. No run down about place, no recommendations, almost irritated she had to prepare an order. We did come in planning to purchase 3 shakes, after seeing how dirty the place seemed, lack of anything from this employee we chose to just start with one. After the manager made drink she disappeared again in the back. Just gave me a gross feeling of not being very clean with the appearance of employees and detail to product. This comes from an experienced GM in hospitality. I would definitely be looking for new employees.

I went to The Yard Milkshake Bar with a few friends after having dinner and was not entirely sure what I was expecting. For some reason I thought that this place was more of a restaurant but instead of a standup to order ice cream shop. I felt super bad when we arrived as it was super busy and there was only one person working. The person working was very busy and friendly but they need to have more people with the foot traffic that they had. She was about three orders away when I ordered and the milkshakes take awhile to make since they are so elaborate. The ice cream itself was good but do I need to go back? Not necessarily because the cookie dough was just okay and I was looking for a unique dessert

Second the staff was not very welcoming, I'm guessing it was a busy day. Lastly, for $22, which is astronomical for a milkshake, it was horrible. The toppings were mostly whip cream and a stale chocolate chip cookie. The milkshake was soup, there was nothing creamy about it. And even the chocolate they dressed the jar in tasted old. Please do not waste your time on this place, as there are some excellent options to get dessert at over this overpriced, dirty and frankly not very tasty spot
Similar to other reviews, I will echo that this is a unique place with instagram worthy milkshakes, but the quality to price isn't quite there for me. The milkshake itself wasn't bad, but also wasn't exceptional for a milkshake that cost $20+ each (with tax and tip). While you get to keep the glass, I'm just not sure what to do with a yard branded glass... and many others customers apparently didn't either as we saw about 8 other glasses that were just left in the cleaning sink. The cookie sandwich was delicious and the best part of the milk and cookies milkshake... but again not enough to justify the cost. I'm completely fine with paying for the quality, but I feel you're paying for the glass (which I didn't really want) and the artistic and creative presentation, which is fantastic. However, with an okay milkshake and relatively flavorless whipped cream... I think this should cost a bit less. I may come back eventually, but likely for the kids and less about wanting a great milkshake.

3.5 stars Shakes are awesome, presentation was great, and staff was friendly and helpful. This place needs a super deep clean. I added a few photos but it doesn't do it justice how dirty it is in the business and bathrooms. The stickiness on my shoes was disturbing. Expect a bit of a wait if there's a line, decor is a bit cheap, but again, shakes were wonderful! You also get to keep the yard cup and there's a cleaning area so that was cool. read more

I absolutely love the yard! It's so different from your average ice cream place in the best way possible. While it's a chain in sure doesn't feel like one. The workers here are super nice and patient with their customers. Most of the time only one or two people are working so service can be a bit slow if there are other people waiting for their dessert. Trust me though, it's completely worth the wait. The vibe here is very casual but it can be great for special occasions or when you're just craving a sweet treat. All and all, I highly encourage you to give The Yard a try! read more

If you have a sweet tooth, the Yard Milkshake Bar is for you! It's located in the Short North so you'll have to find street parking or a lot. The inside is very open with lots of natural lighting (for those instagrammable pics)! I had the pleasure to go behind the scenes and watch the shakes in action! Triana, Quan, and Justin were generous enough to take time out of their days to create these magical shakes for us. There are over 20 milkshake options, a secret menu that changes, specialty bowls, edible cookie dough, and ice cream cakes. They have vegan and gluten free milkshake options too! I got the vegan (Not Milk?) option because my tummy does not do well with dairy. The process is in 3 steps; icing on the rim, scoop the ice cream and stir it up, and decorate - which Triana was an absolute queen at. Not Milk? (Vegan) - chocolate chunk oat milk vegan ice cream with chocolate soy milk with crushed vegan chocolate chip cookies. Cookie Butter Me Up: Cinnamon bun & cookie butter ice cream rimmed with cinnamon. Topped with whipped cream, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, vanilla drizzle, and a whole cinnamon bun. read more

Hands down this place was amazing the shakes are out of this world definitely definitely a must try and a must go. Very clean place good staff and amazing shakes and a great experience and unique shakess. Can't wait to go back to this location and try more shakes. First, the original person (young lady) who was originally trying to take our order was a snot-ball and seemed impatient while we were excitedly trying to decide what we wanted. Then an older man walked up and took our order. He was super nice and spunky! The milkshake was really rich and yummy. We were not a huge fan of the extreme amounts of whipped cream. Plus, the food dyes are a turn off (I wish they personally did not use them). The cookie sandwich on the side was really yummy though. Overall, this place was okay but not near as good as we thought it would be. Maybe next time we will try something different and like it more? We are hopeful. read more

This place was great. From the service to the quality of food everything was pleasant and it was a very enjoyable experience. From the friendly women that took our order to the gentleman who crafted our desserts to a dime. Super friendly staff and top tier service. WOW!!! this place is a one of a kind place...and it makes you feel like a child again!!! I went here on a bachelorette trip and this was our first stop of the weekend! and what a wonderful choice because it got us so excited for the rest of the trip! Our group got SO many different flavors it was hard to keep track of who got who!! I personally love peanut butter and brownies... so you guessed it I got the peanut butter brownie bliss shake and it was DELICIOUS!!! One thing I will say is this is not a dessert for after a meal... it's the meal... you will be SO FULL after this you won't want another bite of food!! Another very cool thing about this place is they have a station where you can clean and keep your jar as a souvenir!! I recommend this place for a fun little treat every now and then, especially if you have kids... they would totally love it!!! read more

If you're looking for a delicious and photo-friendly milkshake, The Yard is the place to go. My milkshake was very yummy, although eating the ingredients lining the rim was difficult and impractical, meaning that it's more of an aesthetic feature if anything. The interior is cute but slightly dated. Overall, a delicious and fun spot! read more

Was excited to try but very disappointed. Taste and quality was meh. Waited 30 minutes to get it. Place was dirty. Windows had food caked on them, floor was dirty, tabletops were dirty and napkin holder was empty and dusty. My sundae was missing cookie dough and it was served on a paper plate. read more
I stopped in with my son on opening day to get him a treat. They have plenty of cool options if you want one of their specialty milkshakes and sundaes 17.00 is a bit much even if you get to keep the glass. The shop also have scoops, ice cream bars and several Cookie dough flavors. It was a bit busy but the staff was helpful. A glass cleaning station for the souvenir mason jars was a different touch. The yard was as expected on a cold December week night in Columbus. The atmosphere was clean and inviting. There was a single employee working his tail off. They were fully stocked and organized. The bathroom door was janky and definitely needs to be fixed. The 'tis the season sundae was beautiful and good. It had a bit too much whipped cream, but if that's your thing... have at it! The ice cream was good. And the coveted little debbie christmas tree cake was frozen- which was perfect. We weren't able to finish all the ice cream, had we, we would've discovered that there were chunks of christmas tree cake at the bottom. They have a sink where you can wash out the mug- You get to keep the mug, so it makes it not too painful when you pay 18$ for a milkshake. read more

Yard Milkshake is a chain known for their bigger than life milkshakes. The milkshakes are heavy on calories some about over 3000. The price is definitely on the expensive side (single milkshake can be about $21). The place gets very busy. Good ice-cream/ milkshake, my friends cheese cake was pretty frozen. I do think it's worth the experience but with how busy (and that causes slower service) topped with the price. I don't think it would be worth just a regular ice-cream. Here's the deal... don't come to this place after dinner. You have to come with an empty stomach and the intention of a dessert being your dinner. The size of these milkshakes are wild when you add all of the toppings! I think the concept is super cute and I know a lot of restaurants trying to hop on the trend of "oversized milkshakes", but I honestly think this is something that I could have made at home and saved $17 a piece on. We ordered the Cookies N' Worms, Doughnut Touch my Coffees and Cream, and Strawberries & Cream Cheesecake. You can either order the milkshakes or sundaes. Milkshakes are $17 ( includes a cute souvenir mason jar) and sundaes are $12. Each milkshake or sundae includes a larger sweet (donut, cheesecake, cookies and cream cake pop) and is topped with a massive amount of whipped cream and treats. After you're done eating, there is a little wash station that you can take your mason jar to and wash out. This is definitely a fun place to take kids, but be warned that a lot of people think that so there are going to be a bunch of kids running around. There are a few tables and a bar where you can sit to enjoy your ice cream! All staff members are extremely friendly and welcoming! read more
The Yard is a craft milkshake and sundae bar serving over-the-top creations. We tried the mint green monster shake and it came with a mountain of whipped cream and a full size brownie. The shake and brownie were solid, though not particularly special, especially for $17 plus tip. The straws at the Yard are really tiny - almost to the point of being useless. Our shake was ready reasonably quickly, but the place is a bit disorganized. They have plenty of workers, but the line moved slowly and the tables were nearly all messy. read more

Stopped here last Sunday after brunch while browsing short north. Their was no one in line but the place was packed with people waiting. The setup does not work! Beautiful space but the ordering and delivery system doesn't work efficiently. Being that it was a beautiful day and so many were out probably didn't help. Milkshake are about $18 plus tip. The nostalgia of it was cool but would not crave one of these shakes for that price. The take home mason jar is a cute idea but most will leave it there or throw it away while walking like we did.
