I met a lovely man named Dave in the champion horse barn. He was fantastic, and took the time to tell me a bit of horse history. He even brought one of the retired champions up to the stall door so that my dog could get familiar with horses. Meeting Dave made my entire trip that even more memorable. We got to stop and watch some of the horse events going on. I loved watching the horses competing in the jump course. This is a large park and there is a lot to take your time and see. They have a nice gift shop. There is a food hall too but I didn't try it during this trip. It is $28 to get in, but is worth it and you can get in the next day for free. I am glad I had the opportunity to stop and see the park.

Our puppy loved the ducks (and these were some FRIENDLY and INTERACTIVE ducks...) and we experienced some other cool avian sightings. Not a surprise - but the restrooms were suitably scary and during the first part of our visit, the overcast and gray sky made the cement building feel ripe for a horror movie experience... compete with a scary service truck and a man in stained overalls. (Please note, the gentleman was actually very friendly and engaging and was hard at work - he was not in any way a negative presence). The park is expansive and it was actually really busy for a Thursday evening. The dog park was intriguing but we ran out of time to visit. The play area had something for all ages and was popular with children through teens. Loads of parking and the shelter area was great for a school gathering. Can't wait to visit again!

There are plenty of green spaces and empty fields to play frisbee, flag football, or volleyball. I drove to the dog park area since the park is strict on having the dogs on leash at all times, so I went there. The dog parks for both small and large dogs are enormous! I have never seen that size of a dog park since I was in Colorado--and that state is known for being pet friendly, so their parks and restaurants are 90% pet-friendly. I took my dog to the small dog park as he is small. It was still 4 P.m. and too hot for my dog. There are not a lot of shades in the small dog area compared to the large dog area. I did not stay that long as my dog did not like being grilled under the sun. I checked out the rest of the park by driving around and noticed a vast playground, a marina (although the water has receded), empty fields, a picnic area, and even a camping area! If I had come later in the day when it was not too hot for my dog, I would have enjoyed my stay here. I have seen plenty of residents around here with their kids, birthday party groups, and groups playing frisbee. I can tell that it is a great park to visit. Cool spot ~

The gym has loads of equipment for all different types of training like free weights, treadmills, machines, and is spaced out fairly well. The only downside with the gym is sometimes it will get too busy and there will be a wait time for machines, but there's loads of different variations if you need them, other than that it is amazing. The recreational center has more than the gym itself, it also has exercise class rooms like cycling and zumba, multiple basketball courts, an indoor track, and even a rock climbing wall with staff to help newcomers. Overall this center has something for everyone and I have personally loved my experiences here. I would positively recommend this space to anyone looking to meet new people or just fill time in your day.

It's a great way to get my head off the stresses from school and meet new people who have similar interests to myself. The faculty have all been nice from what I've seen and interacted with. It's mostly college students here at Kentucky. Most of the negative online reviews focus on the gym's layout, which is next to the basketball courts, and I would have to agree that this is probably the gym's weakest point. I don't like that there are two floors to the gym and that it is so crowded. But if you go at the right time, I'm sure it's similar to every gym. Other than that, there aren't many negative things I could say about it. I've enjoyed my experiences so far and plan to keep going to the Johnson Center in the future.

I have rented e-bikes from them about 3 different times, and every time I had a blast! I will continue to rent from them for ages to come! I did too and I…read moredidn't even fall like I expected lol It's a bit dingy both inside and outside but it's a sports center so not a big deal. The customer service was slow but they were nice. One lady was doing both sides (front where you get tickets and back where you get skate rentals) and so there was a little wait but it wasn't a big deal. They also look to offer mini golf but we only did the ice skating. We will definitely be returning. Make sure you go during open skate hours.

The entire park smelled like chocolate chip cookies. There's a community center there, so I'm guessing they were baking cookies in it? The park itself has baseball, softball, basketball, a swimming pool, tennis courts, etc. And the "Loudon House" aka the castle, around which the park is situated houses the Lexington Art League Gallery. They have ongoing art exhibits throughout the year and studio space for artists as well. The gallery at the Loudon House also hosts all kinds of events throughout the year, including their fun First Friday parties each month, where they feature the art, of course, but also local bands and restaurant fare.
