First things first, don't let the name fool you! This is a gift shop, not a restaurant! Can't tell you how long I looked for the entrance to a restaurant hidden somewhere near this store before I realized what was happening. If you're in the area, this is a fun shop to visit, especially if you're looking for something touristy to commemorate your visit to the area. It's definitely geared towards tourism, but there is also stuff here for locals, like unique furniture pieces. And it's connected by an open door to Flat Rock Bakery, so you can browse while you sip or wait for your pizza. It can be a bit pricey, but that's to be expected for this type of store. Pro tip: Bring the kids! They have a great selection of toys and games, and there are even some live animals in the store! read more

While I was waiting on a table at Honey and Salt restaurant, I walked over to The Wrinkled Egg to shop and browse. Remember those places you went on vacation as a kid, and they had all kinds of cool stuff, games, silly putty, stuff that you don't see everyday and that you really need. This little store is packed with that stuff. They also have a cage with about 8 little south american finches, so the kiddos can watch the birds. And they have a cage with a friendly rabbit that you can just reach down and pet. They also have tshirts, books on the area, and a bakery in the back. A very cool store if you need a gift for someone, want some nostalgia, or something super cool. A great place to wander around. read more

Pretty much the old white general store promised in Historic Flat Rock, my family and I stopped in for a bit after dropping our daughter off at a local camp. A bit touristy, but the place had an interesting local flavor with original folk art, fun gifts and games, antique treasures, fashion accessories and more. The Wrinkled Egg is best known for camp "care packages" offering an assortment to choose from. Trivia note on the unusual name, The Wrinkled Egg was named for an old red hen that used to roam the owners back yard. Decent service and pleasant staff. Clean store. SO RUDE. The employee helping me was so rude and immature I almost went back and returned my items solely on principle. She did not greet me when I brought my items up, but instead was on a PERSONAL phone call, which she continued she entire time she was ringing me up. The only acknowledgment I got from her was if she asked me if I had counted my items so she didn't have to. You'd think I was talking about a teenager, but she was a woman of mature years. No smile, no thank you, no acknowledgment. Just rude/cold looks my way, for BUYING FROM HER STORE, and ignoring me while on a personal phone call. I will most definitely not be back. read more

I liked this place because there was all kinds of unique stuff here. Like toys, collectables, souvenirs and all kinds of great finds. The Bakery is tucked in the back and has nice fresh bread and other items. I ate the coconut macaroons and coffee with my Mom. The macaroons were moist and delicious. this is a great stop for lunch after apple picking at the nearby skytop orchard. the bakery offers a variety of breads and pastries made on location. sandwich and salad options are available with kids options as well. The real draw here though, is their pizzas, cooked in a massive wood fired oven(which is also used to bake their breads). I had their potato pizza and it was fabulous!
