Oh my--where to begin! I'll start by saying that Shawn and Kodi are incredible, and the photos are…read moreof equal caliber. Now to jump into the details...  We were initially going to get married in Kansas City, but then we opted to get married somewhere close to us. I reached out to Shawn to let him know we weren't getting married in KC any longer, but he said they would be willing to travel to Savannah, GA to shoot our wedding. I was a little hesitant about using a photographer who wasn't from the area and not meeting them before the wedding (my husband wasn't up for engagement photos), but I loved their photos and knew we were in good hands with how responsive he was every time I reached out to him. They were great about working with us on the package, and we immediately felt a connection to him during our pre-wedding call. Shawn had great ideas about our "sparkler" photo timing and had great insight on the timeline.  When we met Shawn and Kodi a couple of weeks later at the rehearsal, we knew we had made the right decision based on their professionalism and the demeanor between the two of them. On the wedding day, Shawn showed up in a tuxedo to shoot and was the definition of professionalism. I knew he was incredibly talented the minute he started taking photos of our rings and other details, and I was blown away by how quickly he got through the wedding party and family photos. (Either my family was on their best behavior or he was completely keeping them in line--going with the latter!) We had some ideas of where to shoot photos, but Shawn had the eye for where we should set up and how we should pose. I thought it would be awkward, but it was so much fun since he was great at giving instructions and kept us moving at a seemingly natural pace.  Kodi served as the second shooter, and her energy was incredibly calming that day. She was an amazing support to Shawn (or so it appeared to us) and also to me--from reminding us when to bring flowers, coordinating timing details, making me feel at ease for being AN HOUR AND A HALF BEHIND SCHEDULE (Yikes!!!! All my fault, not theirs!), and so much more. Their ability to work as such a strong team was so wonderful to watch, and it enhanced the experience for me because they were able to play off each other's ideas and personalities to come up with the best shots and provide the most perfect experience.  We are in the process of getting the photos back now, and I've been so blown away by everything they caught, their creative eye on some shots, and how they were able to make my husband and I feel so comfortable so we had "natural" smiles in the photos. I also love how they caught moments that may have seemed small at the time but are so precious now that I'm looking back on them. The only sad part of this process is that we don't get to hang with them again, as they were truly such a joy to be around and work with throughout the entire process. I cannot say enough positive things about Swander Photography and am so grateful I stumbled across them! Please book them--you won't regret it!

Absolutely gorge venue. The vibe was "magical" as the word that kept coming to mind being there…read more Normally would rate a 5 however was somewhat confused on the meal situation. They were extremely strict on what/how much you could have. Not a terribly lot of food and once the last table was called to eat, the staff immediately closed the doors to the food area. There seemed to be an abundance of food left but shut er down. Wonder what they did with all the left overs Anyway. I personally had just enough as I prefer to drink my calories but most at my table were still hungry.

Our daughter was attending the Naval Academy Prep School in Newport RI. A friend of these people…read morealso had a student there & recommended them for a personalized photo shoot. We took the bait, $150 for 10 minutes. On the day of the outdoor shoot it was foggy but he assured us with the proper filters on his camera they would look fine. We were allowed to select 5 photos out of a minimal amount, perhaps 15-20. All were garbage, unusable without extensive editing on my part. The photo shoot took no more that 2-3 minutes. It just irritates me that someone who are supposedly professional would put out such a poor product. My fault for being duped. As you can see even the insignias were blurred. Such a shame.

I saw a groupon for photography classes and thought, why not? I bought a digital SLR recently and…read morehaving grown up with a SLR, I figured I'd try to bridge the gap from film to digital. The class was pretty good size for this intro class he calls "What The....?" Most of us knew how to use the camera, but mostly in Auto mode. He taught us about fstops/aperatures, focusing, lenses, light, etc. Jason was very well verses in most if not all the cameras that each person had brought with them and knew the settings off the top of his head. I thought this class would be a snoozer, but Jason had a way to bring everything alive. Got a question? Pipe in and ask it or stay after class to pick his brain as long as you want. He has tons of energy and explains it quite well. Though it was one 2 hour class, he was happy to help us in the future if we have followup questions, which was quite unusual. Anyhow, this class was quite refreshing and I plan to take another class with him and tag along for some photo shoots. Now, I've got the courage to take the time to practice and use the program and manual modes more often, to get those crisp shots. Thanks, Jason!

I love this adorable space so much! The organization does a great job with the landscaping and the…read moregrounds/gardens always looks beautiful. I've hosted and attended several events in the space and my experiences have all been positive. Their staff is kind, responsive, and easy to work with. I also love that I'm supporting a great organization (Pilgrim Center for Connection) that provides a sacred space for the community without dogma or hidden agendas. Highly recommend!
