I've stayed in a lot of hotels and motels over the years because of my hobbies, and this one really stood out. I stayed here during a spring break vacation, and the experience was excellent--mostly thanks to the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, which made a big difference. The room was clean and comfortable, and overall the stay exceeded our expectations. My significant other and I both agreed that if we ever return to Missoula, we would definitely stay here again. Cute hotel that is a former motel. It's very pretty, the staff is super nice but you can still tell it used to be a no tell motel from the shower which has the nozzle on one side and the knobs like 6 feet away. There's also a sink in the room not the bathroom. Great location. read more

The Wren is a uniquely Missoula hotel in a very walkable location downtown. The courtyard design with fishbowl windows makes it seem like a renovated old motel - but I'm not actually sure it is as everything is so well thought out. Front desk staff are friendly and accommodating. The courtyard adds private outdoor space in the middle of the city. The rooms are well outfitted with plenty of place to store luggage, comfortable beds, and an outdoorsy theme. I believe the art in the rooms is original - I had a diagram of tree growth that was pretty cool. It's nice to have an attached coffee shop, although there are also plenty of other shops in walking distance. Would definitely stay here again. read more

Never Open Your Windows at Night!!!!! What a fun hotel, great location, close to everything (down town) and tremendous team. However, never leave your windows open at night!!!!! We have never experienced anything quite like the public racetrack on the streets below!!!!!!! You've got to be kidding!!!!!! Oh, and then there was the gun shots around 2am! My boss and his fiancé decided to get married in my home state of Montana. [We all live in California now.] It was their first time to visit Montana and it was just going to be the two of them, getting married at the courthouse in Missoula, and enjoying the outdoor activities of one of the most beautiful States in the country. I wanted to be sure they experienced the Montana hospitality and do something nice for the two of them, a dinner, champagne, and a small vegan wedding cake. I reached out to the hotel and was given a restaurant recommendation for Pangea, a very nice restaurant that could accommodate their vegan diet. I arranged a gift card with Megan at Pangea, who was so helpful, and the manager walked the GC to the hotel the day before their arrival. I arranged for the hotel to get a nice bottle of champagne, told them a cake and topper would arrive that they could set up, and everything seemed to be running smoothly. It all sounded like a good idea...until I received a UPS tracking notice on the wedding day, that the cake was delayed, and wouldn't arrive until the day AFTER the wedding. It was hard enough to get a vegan wedding cake ordered and delivered on short notice, and this one was coming from California because the local vegan bakeries were booked solid for months, for wedding cakes, but now it wasn't going to be there on time, and I was panicked. There HAD to be cake, I promised cake, and was determined to make it happen, though clueless as to how. Thankfully, The Wren Awesome Staff, especially Darren, who stayed in constant contact with me, saved the day. First, I called Pangea to see if they had a vegan wedding cake alternative. Again, Megan was so nice, but because their signature desserts weren't full vegan, she recommended Veera Donuts for delicious vegan donuts. I believe her word was, "Amazing". Then I called Darren back with the bad news the cake wouldn't be there in time, to which he said, "We have a substitute idea," and said they could go to Veera Donuts and get some nice vegan donuts, and still make it festive. [The same idea as Megan, and I was sold]. I was so grateful and said, yes, Yes, YES, and that's exactly what they did. The Wren Awesome Staff went to Veera's and picked up delicious vegan donuts, added the wedding cake topper I had provided, chilled the champagne, and it was all waiting for the Bride and Groom when they returned from their after wedding lunch at Pangea. So my experience is guest / customer service, not as a staying guest, but someone wanting to arrange a gift for staying guests, but I couldn't have been happier. I was worried this wouldn't be a full service hotel like some resorts or cruise lines I'm familiar with, that are ready for any request. But I couldn't have been more wrong. What they didn't have on site, they went and got it for me. I wanted my boss and his wife to experience Montana Hospitality, and The Wren Awesome Staff [as they will always be known to me], shined bright. I'm attaching some photos of the Wedding Donuts from Veera Donuts, the beautiful vegan lunch from Pangea, and the text from my boss letting me know everything was awesome, including The Wren Awesome Staff. And the vegan wedding cake is set to be delivered tomorrow...but you know what? I think the fact that The Wren Awesome Staff stepped it up so much to make sure my gift was extra special is better than any cake. And I know they will never forget those yummy non-traditional vegan Wedding Donuts [maybe Hannah @ Veera's can advertise her special Wedding Donuts for future guests] will be fondly remembered for years to come. I know I'll always remember this experience and one day would like to stay at The Wren and enjoy my own Montana vacation with their hospitality. Thank you to everyone who played a part in making my wedding gift a reality, Pangea, Veera's, and of course, The Wren Awesome Staff...especially you, Darren. Thank you sooooo much. read more

We stayed @ The Wren for 3 nights/ 4 days in September when we spent a week in Montana. The first part of the week we stayed at a beautiful (but not very inclusive/ customer service friendly) b&b in Somers overlooking Flathead Lake. More on that in another review... BUT to the great part.... we stayed at The Wren for the second half of the week and we loved everything about it!!! The staff was super friendly and hospitable, especially in getting wedding treats and cake to us. The staff was so awesome in getting that all coordinated and set up in our room! The room itself was great! Comfy bed, good towels, plush robes, great hair and body products, etc. Also, the windows faced the street with a view of the mountains and that was lovely. The street was lively at night, but it was good noise and we didn't mind at all! We slept so well. The coffee and tea in the mornings was also a nice touch. As well as the coffee shop connected to the lobby. Location was perfect, as we left the rental car in the garage for days, and just walked everywhere right from the convenience of our hotel! The Wren is just such a warm, fun, and clean spot- can't rave enough about it. Would love to stay here again on our return trip to Missoula! read more

I love staying at the Wren and their sister property, the Lark! The amenities are thoughtful, the attached coffee/tea and tasty treats spot called "Basecamp" is a wonderful place to fuel up on your favorite beverage on the way out of town, or even just arriving! Our Christmas custom for the past three years has been to spend Christmas Eve at the Wren. We were one of the first folks to stay after they opened. There simply isn't a better team working in hospitality. Staff and management are keenly focused on their guests' needs and experience. The Wren itself should win awards for urban renewal as it once was a dilapidated property that now is a world class hotel that feels like the love child of REI & the US Forest Service. The walls are adorned with handcrafted murals from local artisans that celebrate Montana's great outdoors. Furniture is custom and purpose built to enhance your stay. Very modern look and feel! We had the larger king room and enjoyed the extra space in the room as well as the very spacious bathroom. The bed and sheets were awesome. The room was very quiet and we got a great nights sleep. They offer valet parking for $20 with unlimited access to your vehicle, however their downtown location is such that you shouldn't need it much. The only amenity that I think would recommend to make the space better would be to add a mini fridge. read more

Great stay! We were looking for a dog-friendly hotel during our cross-country move. Missoula was the first stop and decided to book a room at The Wren. We got there at 2 AM, the receptionist was super friendly and helpful. The check in process was fast, and we were able to borrow a dog bowl. Our dog also got a couple of treats from the front desk :) The room was very spacious and clean CLEAN! We were very tired, and were so glad to have such comfortable beds. Also, the views of the mountains the next morning were a nice added surprise. read more

If you say coffee is served until 9:00am you don't break it down at 8:45. I asked for a real glass early in the evening and he said they were in the wash. This motel isn't worth the price they charge if they aren't going to have good service. It's just an ok room. read more

Fabulous hotel! Bed was super comfortable. We actually want to get one. The only thing is that if you're staying for several days, there's no closet and no dresser. Just some little wall shelves and hooks. And no refrigerator but you can request one. Great staff! The little café attached to the hotel is awesome as well! Great location! read more
