I had stopped coming in due to the negative atmosphere but I'm so glad after seeing the lovely window display I decided to pop in again. What a difference! clean, friendly and very welcoming. knowing (thankfully) there's been a change of management & with the new managers positive & friendly character I once again feel welcome. I went to a Yelp Elite event last night. A beautiful store- The owner and his wine experts set up 5 reds and 5 whites both domestic and foreign. They were very friendly and patient explaining each grape and the flavor it produced on the palette. Samples from Portugal, Italy, Spain and of course California. Lovely evening - cozy atmosphere with my fellow elite members and 40% off selected tasting wines. The proprietors offer periodic wine tastings - highly recommended. read more

The wine cellar is part of a large buying group. As such, they offer huge discounts on many types of wine. Shipping is usually free when you purchase a case of 12 bottles or more. The downside is that this store does not always have (in stock) those wines we have tried and enjoy. You have to search their email for the available stock in Rye that can be ordered. The buying group website is just fair, calling in an order via phone is often better. Be sure that you do not allow substitutions, you may not like what they send. In the past year they have had about 6 special sales; we skipped 5 of them because the Rye store did not have our favorites in stock. read more

This is in conjunction to their partnership with Laithwaites. The service since they were moving has gone downhill exponentially. It is a shame as I was really enjoying the wines I had been purchasing. There have been times that when they were out of the wine ordered, they didn't notify me, just replaced with something else. This last order was a fiasco. Not only was time wasted, but it ruined a holiday gift. I ordered about 12-14 bottles and 6 were my husbands favourite. They came just in the nick of time, but the 6 were not the ones requested, they were some other kind. No contact from them. I emailed them and they said I had a few options, to keep and pay, or to send back. They sent me a fedex label, and my husband schlepped the box to a fedex pickup. A couple of weeks later we got a box back, different from what we sent, with 4 bottles of the same wine (not the 6 we sent) and no note, just a sticker on the box saying "return to sender". I rang and after waiting on hold for a while was hung up on. I rang back, finally getting someone to speak to. She must have been busy on her phone or something as after I explained the whole thing, she said " what? I don't understand? what happened?" like she hadn't been listening at all. I had to repeat the whole thing. Then she said that oh, well they're out of the wine we originally ordered and she could give me a credit. I said for the 6 of the original wine? She said yes. I asked if I had to return the four bottles and she said no just keep them. The state they were in was shocking as well, labels scratched and one had the foil coming off at the top. Horrible customer service and it's a shame as they used to be so good. I hope they stop using their move as an excuse and get back to their old good customer service and fulfillment. I have a feeling they were out of the wine to begin with and that is why they stuck some random other in there. Shameful and it's not cheap either. read more

Eric is AMAZING!! I have never visited a wine shop that allows the consumer to taste the wine before buying! And you don't have to purchase the entire bottle!! His knowledge of wines and alignment with customer taste is beyond reproach! The wines bring me there, the customer service and discounts keep bringing me back!!! Incredibly bad customer service. We walked in after the shop was open, at 10, and the door was unlocked. The woman working the register hardly looked up as she counted the money inside. When my husband politely asked her to tell us more about the sale (the reason we'd traveled from Mamaroneck to the store in the first place) she chastised him and said he would have to wait until she was done counting the money in the drawer, and said they weren't even open yet because it was before 10 (she was incorrect). We left without making a purchase. I'm sure this woman was having a bad day--perhaps she had been running late to open the shop--but this kind of customer service is inexcusable. We had a good experience there prior to today, but this left such a bad taste in our mouths that I don't think we'll go back. A real shame. read more

The wine quality and selection here is excellent, and the deals are the best I've ever seen anywhere. The staff are friendly, and they observe all the necessary covid 19 rules. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone that drinks wine often. read more

It's Thursday, so definitely thinking about the weekend. First stop? The Wine Cellar in Rye Ridge. Nice selection and good deals -- and Eric is the most gracious host. He and Kim really know their wines and their recommendations are spot on. Today was a "customer appreciation" sale. If you are a person of color, you will be made to feel uncomfortable. My friend and I walked in as we were waiting to pick up food next door. We were greeted with hostility and a condescending tone by a tall Caucasian woman, as if we did not belong there. To make matters worse, the employee at the register, seemed to stare at us in awe. There were no signs saying that people cannot walk around to look for the wine or alcoholic beverage that they were looking to purchase-due to COVID-19. We also had masks on and were in compliance with the rules printed on the paper on the door. There was also no one standing at the door taking orders, as there was at Starbucks next door; to imply that one could not look for items to PURCHASE. It is very sad and disheartening that, especially in the climate of the world we are living in, people are still being judged on preconceived notions. My friend asked for a wine and she was told that it was not available, but it wasn't what the employee said it was how it was said that was unacceptable and unprofessional. She could have offered more options or even ask if there was anything else that my friend was interested in that would be comparable to what she was looking for. I guess that money isn't GREEN anymore. I do hope that someone finds this helpful and use caution if you are of ethnic origin because you will get stares and you will feel uncomfortable until you leave. read more

A little mistake happened on my order where a bottle wasn't packed. I called and Erik took care of it immediately! I received the original bottle and a complimentary bottle of wine right away! I will definitely keep doing business here and can't wait to work with them to get some of my favorites from Napa! read more
