It was an excellent tasty dinner in an old Welsh pub. The staff was super staff and cheerful. There was a great selection for dinner. Our order was traditional meals with steak pies, fish and chips, and burgers. My wife had scallops and sea base, and my son had salmon. We then loaded up on the desserts. I had the chocolate brownie with cotted vanilla ice cream. We left a big tip. They earned it.

Unfortunatley it seems that not much of the youth of Bristol have found this place, so if your a student you could be forgiven for thinking you've reduced the average age by half! The selection of ales and ciders is pretty impressive, and there are a couple of good booths to sit in and enjoy your drink. They also show live sports and the atmosphere is always good if there's a game on.

It's a teeny bit grimy and a wee bit scary - there's a super selection of ciders and perries but there's not too much more I can recommend. You have to fight to get into the place through a crowd of smokers and the snooker tables take up much-needed seating space. Good for an extremely swift pint before you head into town and certainly commendable for its local vibe and celebration of all things apple-y.

I'm not sure where the previous reviewer visited - there's no such place as Cefn village, it's Michaelston-y-fedw village. Being born and raised in the area I have been to this pub many, many times during my life and I'm sorry to say that it has deteriorated over the last decade or so. In my youth this was a wonderful village pub, with no allusions of being anything more. It's where the locals could get a pint, a chat and traditional pub grub (scampi, cod and chips, ale pie, etc). Quick, wholesome and tasty meals. Since coming under new management it seems to be heading further and further away from being the heart of the village to being a peusdo gastro-pub, punching way above its weight as it fails to deliver what it promises. Bring back the old Cefn with it's spit and sawdust style I say!

On our visit, we went for an evening meal. We could've eaten in the bar, but decided to eat in the dining area where there is table service. The staff were very friendly and bought menus and drinks quickly: it has a full bar with a number of real ales on tap. The menu is classic pub grub, and we chose the burgers (one "Dunstan" beef burger and one Plant burger). Both came with beer onions, cheese, iceberg, pickles, ketchup, mayo in the bap, and fries. They were decent enough, although the chips were a bit dry, and we thought it could have done with a side salad or coleslaw. As I said, service was very pleasant and efficient and gets 4/5, the food 3/5. Overall cost was £35, which for a burger, chips and one drink each, is a bit on the pricey side for a pub in Burnham. Hence an overall score of 3/5. It has a small car park and large outdoor beer garden.

There is a bar area, food eating on multiple levels and a newer extension area with later tables for big groups. The food is top notch and superb value for money. Gourmet burgers are on offer, all named after old school film actors, as are homemade pies alongside a wide selection of pub favourites. The bar is fully stocked and as with other Young's chain pubs the house ales are all superb. Don't let the slightly drab exterior or the previous management era reviews put you off, this place is well worth a visit.

The burgers were juicy and flavorful, the mackerel was good although seemed a bit meager serving and the pie was superb! I've only been here twice, but both times I've felt distinctly uncomfortable in the place. Its agenda is undoubtedly in line with middle class wine drinkers and it lacks a certain spontaneity. What's more, prices here are pretty extortionate. You could purchase a good quality bottle of wine from your local off license for the price of one small glass at The Windmill. Food is also expensive, although the Pieminister pies are definitely worth sampling if you're willing to fork out £7. Basically though, if you're not one for conservative pubs, I'd suggest you steer clear of The Windmill.

I first came here just yesterday, and completely loved it the minute I walked in. The bar staff had heavy thick moustaches, which I later read that was for a moustache competition.. I was sold. Any pub that welcomes kooky, fun on-goings, has my vote. The atmosphere here is great, and it is the sort of pub for the locals around that area, which always provides a pub so much more character, mostly due to the colourful natures of the people that come in. It is quite big, and has a little hidden-ish room on the left of the bar, and on the right, down some steps, is another room with a fair few couches and tables, and also an outside covered patio area! Food here is around £5 - £8 pounds, which upon initial viewing is a tad steep. However we were hungry, so we went on an ordered some anyway. You get cute porcelain animals as a table marker after you order - bonus points from me here. My mussels in a white wine and cream sauce with a basket of bread was really good, and for the £6.95 I paid for it, fully worth it. The winning discovery of the night however, is Tom's pies, made in Dartmoor. If you have read my Pieminister review, you will know how big a fan I am of them.. but Tom's pies blows Pieminister out the water! The lamb moussaka was absolutely divine. The flavours inside really made you go 'aaaah'. I will most certainly be coming back here again, and although it is not exactly very close to where I live, it is definitely worth the trip.
