An amazing boutique, i'd hardly call it a thrift shop. Every item seems to be chosen with care. i went one day and returned the next.

Goodwill Industries of Monocacy - 5 pillows went with the loveseat. They only gave me 2. The tag clearly shows the set has 6 items. They owe me 3 pillows.

This is definitely one of the better Goodwill's I've been to. I can't leave an area without…read morechecking out their thrift scene so when I found myself in Westminster recently I had to check them out. They're located on a main street surrounded by strip malls, restaurants, and big box retailers. Getting there and finding the place was easy, even for someone like myself unfamiliar with the area. Immediately inside I noticed their carts as they were one of a kind I've never seen anywhere else. I should have gotten a picture. I appreciated that they had a drink holder, a hanging bar, as well as a hook for my purse without being so cumbersome to get down the isles. Every retailer should switch to that version. The store was clean and organized. The racks were separated by size although many items weren't in the right location. The quality was good and I didn't pull anything from the racks that wasn't sell-able. The shoes were well organized, by gender, size, and color. Most were priced what I would consider high for used shoes (in the $10 range), some were less, but many were more. Overall I felt the clothes were higher priced than what I'm used to for thrift. Some dresses were as high as $19.99. The housewares section was organized well, with an entire 2 isles devoted to small appliances (grills, coffee makers, etc). Brick brac was separated by what is was (all shelving together, wire items together) etc vs what most Goodwill's do and that's separate by color. Organization was on point. The toy section was plentiful as was the sporting goods - which is usually departments that fall short for thrift stores. There was a small furniture section with prices ranging from low to high that was hit or miss as far as quality. New mattresses were also sold. What impressed me most was the organization, cleanliness, and quality. I scored a Vera Wang purse for $6.99 and another purse without a brand label that was real leather for $1 more. Look for the sign featuring the current color special for 50% off as it changes from week to week. I wouldn't have bought a so-so fitting pair of jeans if it wasn't for the discount. Other deals: a large kids play kitchen intact for $12.99 and a vintage Loving Family Dollhouse for $10 ( a real score because I was on the hunt for one a few years ago and even on Facebook marketplace the cheapest I've seen them is in the $50 range). There were several dealers plucking items from the shelves and openly talking about how much they can sell them for on eBay so if you see a deal...grab it as someone else will recognize it too! The dressing rooms were large and clean but check out was understaffed and slow. Three cashiers and it still took a good 30 minutes + to get thru the line. In their defense the credit card terminals were running slow but still..... While they didn't accept my Keystone stores loyalty card for additional savings the cashier did enroll me in their version. No card required, register with your phone number, and you accumulate one point for every dollar spent (that don't expire) once you hit $200 you get $10 off - score!

With luck you'll get a good cashier with friendly attitude. Don't ask for a manager, specially if…read moreyou have a question about price or some mismatch pot with the wrong lid. In my experience, managers are outright nasty. They act rude, condescending, rude, and ignorant. Most of them! There are some workers who are really nice but some are just there. They used to have good, decent products, now it is just junk! I guess most of the good stuff is shipped out to their online store. They do seem to allow some resellers on site. They sit around waiting for the carts to come out to stock up the shelves then they rush out like vultures to cherry pick the best items they spot. God forbid you get close to the carts, they'll push you away rudely no apologies. The store managers must be getting some kick backs from these resellers because they do nothing to stop the practice. I used to donate tones of stuff to goodwill but I have lost faith in them as a good organization. I think it is scam organization pretending to be a charitable organization helping the poor and disabled people but what I see is a greedy organization overpricing the donated items and making huge profits for their upper class echelons. If they had a good mission now it is lost.
