I never once felt nervous. There's a long bar at the front, and a little cocktail bar at the back, which is impressive for a petite venue. I was walked over to the cocktail bar, and told I could order anything I wanted, any cocktail off the top of my head, or just say what I liked and they'd match it. I listed of floral, sour and gin, and was presented with a super tasty gin based jade princess. The music was great, areas to sit and dance too. Cocktails are not cheap, but they're very much worth it. A lot of people do seem to come here on the pull, which isn't my scene, and those who approached never pestered, which is wonderful. We also ordered some light snacks; bread, cheese, olives, olive oil and balsamic, pickles, and mustard which did the trick to help with drinking on an empty stomach although nothing super memorable but it did its job. Well, I've been to this new bar at least three times now since it's opened a month ago, and I'm trying to utilize my willpower and not go to spend my money. In addition to getting our cocktails (e.g. caipirinha, margarita anejo) with what seems to be quite top-shelf (or at least mid-shelf...is that a word?...) spirits for 6.75-7.75 pounds per drink, my bf and I have been addicted to the coffee-infused Patron shots, which aren't cheap but are really delicious. I really like the environment since it's quite chilled and non-rowdy. I can't stand yelling over others at bars and clubs that put too much crap syrup in their drinks. So anyway, good, laid-back but classy vibe here with fresh drinks. Not the cheapest but affordable for a weekly indulgence if you're a college student/yuppie. While it was possible to order reds and whites by the glass, there was only one 'by the glass' option for champagne, rose, and sparkling wines, and I was not in the mood to have to mull over the menu again if I did not like their selection. So, I ordered the cider. When the waiter brought it over, I noticed something on the inside of the glass, but when I looked up to tell him about it, he had already gone. I waited for him to come back, which took five minutes and I did not receive an apology, which I was not hung up about but it is still good customer service to do so. Once he returned and I tried the cider, I found it quite sour and not to my taste. The wines had descriptions so I felt one for the ciders and ales would have done very well. As for food, their offerings were mainly cheese and charcuterie dishes. I was looking for something more substantial, but it would have been rude not to order anything so I ordered the bread board, which is merely bread and olive oil. It was perfectly fine. The service was not anything to be impressed by. The waiter was not friendly at all. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very touristy, at least to me. Perhaps this is due to its location on the river, where students and companies are trying to get the tourists to go on a punting tours. Overall, unsatisfactory. Will not be going back.

Small, friendly, a nice location just off the main shopping area, reasonably priced and generous portions. The food was delicious and worth venturing over for whether you are local or not! We had crisp halloumi, spiced aubergine with minced lamb, chilli peppered squid, pork belly and chips, a lovely crisp Pinot Grigio (my friend's a white drinker) and a couple of liqueur coffees. All this for £30 a head including a tip. The staff were efficient, attentive and charming. Young and energised, I loved the way all the front of house staff presented one table with a birthday dessert and sang with evident delight to the guest. We were made to feel very welcome despite booking a late table and the arrival of a large party of blokes who'd evidently been out for a Christmas get together added to the very European feel of this little gem. I would probably have walked past Noble Rot if it wasn't for my in-the-know friends - who actually phoned ahead to make sure Charlie would open the door for us. This is not exactly a private members club, but it helps to have well connected friends ... Once inside you feel you have just walked back in time. We were greeted by 80's music (no, not Wham! think a good selection of ELO and funk) and even found a table in the corner. Two bottles of rather good house red later we had chatted to most of the other guests.
