The fire simmered warmly, some locals supped beer and seemed happy to chat to us and also a couple of dogs trotting around one of which was the pub dog (Misty we think), was a character...what's not to like?
Our lunch was delicious and portions were generous. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and we also liked other staff members who had personality and humour. The real ale selection was not vast but there was enough to choose from, and they also had three draft ciders.
