Chicken fried steak breakfast, served all day, was a huge, generous serving and there was not a morsel left. Chicken salad sandwich with soup was one lunch special and it was very good. The service was friendly and efficient. It has to be for the sheer volume of meals served. The decor is homey and while everything is a bit worn it's clean and comfortable. read more

This is definitely a locals favorite location for Watertown, with a definite cafe/diner vibe. We arrived at about 9:30 AM on a Wednesday and two of the three dining areas were full. The food and server were the best! We had the hot beef sandwiches - absolutely tender and delicious. For dessert they have the option of 5 or more homemade pies. We chose the strawberry rhubarb pie and the chocolate cream pie. The strawberry rhubarb was amazing. The perfect combination of sweet and tart. The chocolate cream was rich and delicious. Wheel Inn is a diner synonymous to Watertown. If you're a local you're either a Stockman's Cafe or a Wheel Inn fan. I've been coming here off an on for many years any time I get a chance when I come to town. This place is great to come in the mornings to catch up on the local gossip, farming and hunting intel and storries. The interior of the place is nothing spectacular but basic table and booth seating to either side of when you enter the front door and greeted by the cashier station with sit down counter seating where you can read the newspaper and hear the latest polics. Food is simple, fast and tasty diner food. Breakfast has the general variety of breakfast options, though you won't find belgium waffles here. Lunch time and dinner food is equially good and simple. Fish options around here are general lake fish choices, such as walleye, which is my all time favorite fish. The prices here can't be beat and I've always had a soft spot for this place every since my dad brought me here as a little kid. read more

I was here for a breakfast, by the time we were served we had supper. My pancakes were unnecessarily flipped. They were cooked so thoroughly on one side that the they were cooked through. We got some really rubbery eggs that were mostly shell free. The hash browns were cooked on both sides. I was so happy to get something that wasn't destroyed by the cook. I will order hash browns again. Not sure if it will be before 2030, but sometime this century. When leaving I saw the server outside sniffing meth off the parking lot. If you decide to eat there bring a toothbrush for a tip. Not a single employee has one and I'm sure they will appreciate it. Sadly the food was terrible the service was awful and the atmosphere was reminiscent of a restroom along the interstate. read more

Stopped based on the ratings. I wouldn't stop again. Took forever to get our food. We were traveling so not in a rush but it's a good thing. Waitress forgot to put our order in and apologized but even after that it took another thirty minutes to get our food. Basic ham and eggs and toast. And corned beef hash and eggs. Visiting Watertown for a wedding and needed lunch. This little place looked hopping and that's usually a good sign. Glad I stopped as the food was pretty great! I loved the stool in the bathroom for kids, the little play packs of crayons and colors and the map in the entrance to mark where you are visiting from. I had the Indian Taco which was on special and it was amazing! Tasted like something I had at a fair years ago and always looked for. Kids had breakfast and the pancakes are huge and delicious. After looking at the fast options available I asked a local if there were any good small town cafe's in Watertown, and they pointed me to the Wheel Inn. I stopped in and was happy I did. This place is everything one would expect from a Midwestern eatery; good food, great prices, friendly staff, and lots of people sitting around eating & visiting. It's the place to go when visiting the Watertown Zoo or family or just passing through, and it never disappoints. The menu is basic, as it should be. Banana cream pie was bad. False advertising on the first page of the restaurant's website as it applies to banana cream pie "We use the freshest ingredients and serve wonderful home cooked meals." Check the pie case before ordering. Ted and Sara need to remove the language on the Yelp site that states "Our food is the closest thing to home cooked." The banana cream pie was not homemade as I no sign of whole bananas. It was processed food and obviously from frozen. They must have ran out of homemade and tried to pass off a slice from a cheap frozen pie like you buy from Walmart. It was a small piece and not thick. Price was high besides at $4.75. I complained and was given a different type of pie but was still charged for the banana cream. Hot Beef meal was really good. Just don't get the half order. Evidently the manager isn't very good at math as the half price($5.79) is 89% of the whole($6.50). Why bother with such a small price differential. read more
