I've been enjoying the services at The Wellness Centre for several years. Dr. Balin and his team of health care workers have helped me with so many of my health care issues. Dr. Balin and his wife choose excellent massage therapists to complement Dr. Balin's chiropractic care. Currently I am enjoying the benefits of biofeedback at The Wellness Centre. I've also benefitted from skin therapy, nutrition consultation, and acupuncture at The Wellness Centre. The staff is always helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about my insurance. I am grateful I found this place and that I keep coming back. I am very picky when it comes to my healthcare professionals. Too many are trying to throw some pills at you and get you out of their office within their "15 minute patient window." Dr. Balin is the real deal. He wants to find the root cause of your pain and treats it, rather than going for the symptoms only. I've been going to Dr. Balin for well over 2, almost 3 years on and off. The massage therapists there are excellent every time I've gone. I've gotten an excellent massage recently I've been going to John for sports massages and he does an outstanding job, I cannot say the same for Dr. Balin. He rushes you every single appointment, he never checks up on how you're doing how you're feeling, what sort of adjustments you might need, he is always getting you in and rushing you out as fast as possible. He really doesn't care about you even if you've been going for a long time and his adjustments are all the same, they are never adjusted to what you need. It's actually quite comical how little he cares. He gives u the same 5 shitty cracks and says WOW you needed that! 90% of the time after he adjusts my neck I have to finish cracking it myself as he won't even fully crack my neck. It's very disappointing since his massage therapist are so good, however Dr. Balin needs to step his game up and start caring about the people that walk in through that door who are paying a great amount of money to receive a service to better their health. This place is a botanical, "supplement" pusher posing as a chiropractor. The reviews are spot on. I went once several years ago and came across the reviews while looking for a day spa for my wife and I. I couldn't help but leave a review and was not surprised to see similar sentiments in recent reviews. Surprised they are still in business. read more

I have visited the office several times and have specifically asked if my visit would be covered, I was assured that my insurance would cover and I would only have to pay my co pay. Then I get a bill for some ridiculous amount for extra charges. They did this to my husband and my son as well. Very disappointed you shouldn't tell someone that a service is covered and then send them a bill. That's needs to be verified by the front desk before rendering any services. Would not recommend this place very shady. read more

My teenage son is an athlete and needed to have his hips and back adjusted. Dr. Balin has worked wonders and was able to get him aligned and more loose. The staff is friendly and professional and we always feel very welcome. We highly recommend Dr. Balin and the Wellness Centre. read more

Wow, I just left The Wellness Centre and I feel incredible! Bailie did a fantastic facial and treated me to fresh flavored water and some healthy snacks. Next I had a full massage by Andrea. I am feeling relaxed and very hydrated by my visit today. Not only today, but last week I saw Dr. Balin and had an adjustment and was very impressed with his entire staff. I had a bad experience there today. There was no pre-warning that the bio freeze applied to my back along with heating pads would possibly create a burning sensation. After reporting to the owner/chiropractor of the business that my back was "burning", he jokingly called me a "wimp". At check out, I felt pressured to buy products as he told the receptionist to add them to my bill, which brought it from $34.... To now $110. I kindly declined, but he again jokingly said that if I didn't buy the nutritional products it would "hurt his feeling." I felt the whole experience was unprofessional, and that I couldn't remove myself from the treatment, as I was laying on my stomach for back treatment, hooked up to the machines, "burning back", and no one around to ask for help, or checking in on me. I NEVER complain about places, but felt that even as I was crying because of what I felt like was "helplessness", and dealing with a personal "trigger", I was approached with humor, sarcasm, name calling, and then a push to buy products that I had no interest in buying....instead of a sincere apology, and maybe even some offer to make it all better, somehow. Honestly, the whole experience made me uncomfortable, its unprofessionalism, and I wouldn't recommend the Wellness Center to anyone. I left crying. read more

I started going to Dr. Balin and the Wellness Center for a problem I was having with my hip. I was in so much pain. I feel so much better after just a few visits. I get a massage before my chiropractic visit- I think this helps loosen everything up. Dr. Balin has always been attentive to my issues- he listens. I have been going to the wellness centre for quite some time for both massages and facials. I am very pleased with both services. I always leave knowing I got my monies worth out of the services. Sometimes your pain in the neck (which will remain anonymous) needs some relief, went for an adjustment with a new chiro who just wanted to chat, quick thinking led me to call for a massage here, within 30 minutes I was on a table and waiting for a miracle No miracle occurred and the swedish massage was meh but will ask for another one in the future, will be back, impressed with location, front desk staff and booked an appointment with their chiro, this has a spa component and yoga too. BTW you do not have to pay an additional $10 to have a scented oil, I was told it was required, that is wrong info. My dentist had raved about this place, glad I came. Neck still painful, massage set me back $85.00 but I am less bitchy than before. read more

I have been going to the Wellness Centre and Dr. Balin now for 8 years. Nelda gives the best massages, but I have had fantastic ones from other team members too! Insurance covers both the massage and chiropractic so it is so worth it! If I sleep just wrong or have done some heavy lifting that hurt my back, they have me as good as new in no time! Love the spa atmosphere and everyone is super friendly. Dr. Balin has never pressured me to purchase anything extra nor has any of the massage therapists. read more

HORRIBLE experience! I visited the office today after reading great reviews. I have scoliosis and have been feeling awful lately with tension headaches. I have been to chiropractors in the past as well as PT. I was excited as this was a "wellness center" and figured an adjustment and massage was just what I needed. The Dr is the strangest man I've ever met. Very nervous energy, terrible bedside manner and a temper!! After doing a bare minimal exam he decided I needed to have chiropractic care AND supplements. He went on about how he was a nutritionist and I needed to be healed from the inside out. I told him I was very sensitive and not looking to take any supplements and he got so angry. He became extremely agitated that I wasn't going along with his suggestions. He told me I wasn't healthy, didn't eat a healthy diet and that HE was the expert. I am a health nut fyi but he wasn't interested in anything I said. I then told him I preferred not to have a neck adjustment just back and he lost it. Got very red in the face and told me that perhaps I needed to go to Massage Envy. How dare I not do everything he suggested?! I have honestly never in my life felt so uncomfortable. I left before receiving any treatment. Couldn't run out if there fast enough. I am still shaken from the experience. STAY AWAY!! read more

I have been going to see Dr. Balin for just over a year now and I love this office! My insurance covers Chiro care and the copay is pricy but it is worth it. Nelda and Ashely are some of the best deep tissue massage therapists around. I have never had an issue with getting an appointment on short notice and Dr. Balin is always willing to talk to me about the aches and pains I am feeling. He does offer a line of holistic supplements but he is not pushy about them. My first visit he suggested some to me and said that there was no pressure to buy them, either way he would still treat me. I cannot speak for everyone else's experiences but I have been a frequent flyer to this office and I have never had a bad experience! The staff are friendly and compassionate. I have been going to The Wellness Center for several years now as a pre-professional ballet student, and have seen amazing results for both day to day tightness and injuries alike! I always feel relaxed, stress free, and loose after my massages, and Dr. Balin is the icing on the cake. For anyone interested, I highly recommend Nelda, my massage therapist. This business has two listings on Yelp, and I left a detailed review of my experience with Dr. Balin and the front desk staff of the Wellness Centre on the other listing (under "Scott A Balin, DC - The Wellness Centre"). I originally left the same review here as well, but Yelp requested that I not leave duplicate reviews, and asked me to decide whether my review was more relevant to "the practice" or "the chiropractor." (This is puzzling to me, since The Wellness Centre is a **chiropractic practice**, and Dr. Balin is the only chiropractor there! As well as the fact that my review outlined my experiences with both Dr. Balin and his office manager, Kat, so it certainly seems relevant to both listings. But, I'll follow the rules and leave the details of my dissatisfaction with the care I received from Dr. Balin out of this particular review.) My opinion of The Wellness Centre as a whole: They are thieves profiting off of quackery and sneaky sales tactics. I purchased a package of 12 adjustments for $400 before I knew that would result in an automatic and drastic change in the type of care I was receiving. Due to my experiences with Dr. Balin outlined in my other review, I did not use the package very quickly. The Wellness Centre then refused to honor my remaining three adjustments unless I used them all within a three week period, because they had "expired" after one year. I explained repeatedly to the office manager that at the time I made the purchase, no one mentioned to me anything about an expiration date. They could not provide me with any documentation showing that I had been given that information at the time of purchase, and admitted that the expiration date (or even the fact that there WAS an expiration date) was not in writing anywhere, but they still refused to honor my remaining adjustments in any way that could possibly be useful to me. No apologies were made whatsoever for the miscommunication, and I was basically accused of being a liar when I stated that no one told me the package would expire. Absolutely terrible customer service, and a really sleazy business model. read more

Made my appt for an hour long massage at 11. I arrived to my appt at 11- my appt time. They pulled me back about 10 minutes later. The massage was good, no complaints there. But it ended at 11:50. I asked the masseuse why the massage ended early, she explained to me that it's actually a 50 minute massage bc they allow 5 minutes to get undressed and 5 minutes to get re-dressed. I then went to check out and the front desk explained that bc I showed right at 11 it cut into my massage time. None of this was explained to me before hand. So basically paid $110 for the massage with a $15 tip for 40 minutes average massage. $125 for 40 minutes! What a rip off. They didn't even show remorse about it. Beware. I called to verify that my insurance would cover prior to booking an appointment. They assured me it would minus a copay. Apparently it was billed out "weird" and they don't know why since they don't even handle their own billing. I was left with a large bill to pay. I would have never gone had I known. By the way, they have you pay AFTER the visit....probably for this very reason. I will not return. The dr does adjustments fine, but the whole place felt like a money pit. The glorified icy hot they rubbed on me apparently cost $30 according to my bill. read more

I had the best massage ever today from Nelda. She was amazing! So nice and kind. I had a reflexology and relaxing massage and it was wonderful! I've been to a couple different places for massages and reflexology, but will only go to Nelda from now on!!! Don't waste your money other places, come here first!! Just had the best massage of my life from Ashley here at the Wellness Center. Moderate pressure relaxation 60 minute massage was awesome! Seriously, after trying all the chain massage places around katy, and other little spas, this massage was far superior, by a factor of 10. read more

I had a 90 min massage with Nelda. She is awesome. She helped my lower back pain. I was worried the massage would hurt since my back hurts so much. No the massage was great It was so relaxing with no pain or discomfort. Highly recommend TWC. The staff is very friendly. read more

Absolutely love this place!! I go for chiropractic services and see Dr Balin. He is wonderful. I love going here because it doesn't feel like a doctors office, but more like a spa. There's a relaxation area where they have soft music, tea, water and treats. They also offer massage services that may be covered by your insurance. read more

I love The Wellness Centre. Dr. Balin is a fantastic chiropractor. Without regular adjustments, my head, neck and back ache terribly. I feel well and aligned after every visit.
