I had a great swim coming back to Sunday Swim at UAHS. The Upper Arlington Parks and Recreation now has slots for 1 or 2 pm swims because of popular demand when registering online or by phone and still a great value $3 for residents or $4 non-residents with the $1 convenience fee when paying online. Still would like having the whole 2 hours and and adding 3-5 pm options. Just a thought.

The gym is small, but has nice bleachers and a pretty slick scoreboard for an elementary school. Plenty of parking, and located beside a public school with a large park and playing fields between them. First, the strong support and encouragements given by teachers and staff. My children know all teachers, and they know them. Everyday they come home to stories about how this teacher helped them this day and another, the next. When we have had issues arise, I have always been impressed by how communicative the teachers have been and how receptive they are to listen to my concerns, and those of my child. It truly has been a loving environment from day one. Second, tying to the support and encouragement, I have seen amazing academic results each year because of teachers taking the time to address individual needs and work with my children. My children feel confident when it comes to learning and have been well prepared when it's come time to take tests. Third, I love the fact my kids are growing in their Catholic faith through partaking in community service, attending mass weekly, and daily religious instruction. I feel confident that they are becoming good stewards of their faith and better and more compassionate human beings because of it. Lastly, I love the sense of community. Parents and students alike enjoy spending time at the school and school functions. The smaller class sizes facilitates getting to know each family and it also encourages and enables any and everyone to be involved with the school. At St. Agatha you are not a face that gets lost in the crowd.

I put…read moremy child in this school for one year, and found that not only were the teachers a bit aloof, but the school in general relies heavily on student and parent input. There are no lockers, there is no bona fide physical education, and most courses require that the student and/or parent either purchase classroom materials or find an alternative way to provide those tools for themselves. There is no cafeteria, and students are encouraged to purchase food out of vending machines if they don't have what they need in their lunchboxes. One would be better served to lottery into an adjacent school district with better schools, or to simply use CPS's best schools available and lottery into those programs. Oh, and last year's yearbooks aren't even available yet.

For background, Metro is a STEM school that also pushes a very strict mastery agenda. You need to have a 90+ on all assignments to be considered passed with them. If not, you must remediate asap. My experience, as I said, was hell. One of the things I noticed, is that they do absolutely nothing about bullies and people saying slurs. I had this one kid on my class, constantly saying the n word and the f slur. Nobody did anything, they just scolded him and loved on. The school does nothing but maybe give them a suspension, even if it's a repeated instance. As someone who suffers from anxiety and depression, this is not definitely the school for me, and might not be the school for your child either if they suffer from chronic anxiety/depression aswell. Deadlines are deadlines at Metro, even with my 504, I would only get an extra day to turn assignments in. I understand they can't give me a week, but my teachers wouldn't even care for my 504. I was supposed to get guided notes, only got 1 packet out of the two teachers I was supposed to get them from in my second semester. If you cannot keep up with getting all A's and turning work in on time, I would NOT recommend Metro. I would also say's Metro worsened my anxiety. I had a lot of things going on outside of school aswell, and everything between that and the school got so bad I had to get on antidepressants antidepressant. I had friends who suffered from chronic illnesses, and they would have piles of work to do when they got back. If your child is apart of the LGBTQIA community, they WILL get bullied. I had a trans friend and he would constantly get called by his deadname and the same guys would constantly ignore his pronouns. There is also another trans student and she constantly got made fun of and talked about behind her back. I practically had no free time outside of school, it was all studying and homework. Sometimes on weekends I'd also have homework. Over the summer, before your child joins high school, they have to do a research project. Made absolutely no sense to me. The bathrooms, disgusting. I've heard stories form the boys bathroom, pee all over the walls. The girls bathroom, bloody tampons, pads, shit in the toilets. It may be the #1 STEM school, but that does not mean it is good. Please do further readership and read more reviews. I would only send my child here if I truly knew they could keep up. If I could, I would definitely give it a 0 star rating.

Lots of activities and fundraisers throughout the year: Christmas tree sale, food truck fest, a gala, etc. And, a huge expansion/renovation this year. At the beginning of the year, my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and the school seemed reluctant to do an IEP or accept the diagnosis. I decided to move her to the local public school which seems to have many more resources and programs to help kids succeed at learning. I would say that this school is probably best suited for families whose faith comes first in their lives and whose kids don't need extra resources and help with learning. It's not a bad school, it just ended up being a bad fit for me and my daughter.
