I typically stay in around the Topanga area two to three times a year. It's honestly one of my favorite places to be, and visiting The Well Refill is always on my "to do'" list. store is super cute! My favorite is the laundry detergent & TerraNova body butter. But unfortunately I didn't not feel welcomed by who I assume to be the manager (I think her name was stormy) very rude, seemed to be in a rush, with not just me but the other customer in the store. The first time I came in, I was greeted w/ a warm welcome from the clerk, a young girl named kaya (I think) who was happy to explain the products in detail, so I give 3 stars. Being that management was not so pleasant has deterred me from visiting/feeling comfortable in the store. I am a school teacher, I've never worked for you sweetie. What a lovely addition to the Canyon. I've been dropping in periodically to ensure I am refilling my reusable bottles instead of trashing and replacing with new. Mainly I'm going to them for hand soap and body wash at the moment. They have some amazing lotions if your skin likes that type of hydration. They also have shampoos conditioners and various types of toothpaste. most recently I stopped in for hand soap and they are carrying the flamingo estate collection. I was excited to see it since I just smelled a candle, burning by them at another location and the refill well had the same sent profile in the hand soap. I'm not a member of the flamingo state yet but all of their products I've tried I've really liked and I do hear nothing but great things so it's convenient and nice to be able to try their offerings without fully committing to membership. I do find the refills a bit expensive but I've made a conscious decision to incorporate the cost into my budget. I'm not sure it's accessible to everyone, but if you are trying to reduce your single use plastics, the refill well is a great starting point and has so many amazing products and resources available to you to start that journey. Most recently I found the most gorgeous wool hand knit sweater for a baby. I wish I knew someone with a baby girl in a cold climate because it was precious. That's just another benefit of this place. They always have unique offerings. I also picked up a beautiful birthday card for a friend. Even if you aren't in need of any refills, it's worth popping in here. read more

I love a good refill shoppe, but the products featured here seemed highly priced and had some odd scent combinations. Overall, I appreciate the business model and the store is adorable, but it doesn't seem like a practical solution to a lack of sustainable, natural products on the market. It fills more of the "boutique potions" niche. The lotion I bought was pretty expensive per oz even though I brought my.own jar, but it has lasted quite some time and feels fantastic on my skin. The scent is okay. Overall, this business is great to have in the area, but I will probably only be stopping by when convenient; Iwould not make a special trip for it. read more

I've been a customer at The Well since they first opened during the pandemic. I was thrilled to have the option of cutting down on plastic and packaging and made it a point of always stopping there after everyTopanga Canyon hike. I even got my husband to agree to use their dishwasher detergent. The last time we had our container refilled, the salesperson wanted to save herself the effort of pumping and poured the product from the bottle instead. Apparently, the product separates when it sits on the shelf, so we only got the lighter liquid on the top. The first time we used it, our dishwasher broke down. We had to call the repair service who confirmed that the product was at fault. The bill was $150. My husband took it upon himself to travel back to the store all the way from Pasadena to report the issue. He received a refund, but not even an apology--not to mention an offer to cover the cost of the repair. We're on a fixed income and we won't be back. read more

Amazing for Topanga to welcome this small business into our community. I love it so much and the design is simple and aesthetically pleasing. I'm so grateful Haley opened this shop as I've been killing myself making a lot of my own products at home.
