Their website states that they are pet friendly. So do their booking pages on Hopper and AirBNB. We arrived with our dog and toddler and were told they do not accept pets. The front desk person took several minutes to acknowledge us. His McDonalds order was sitting all over the counter above where he was working. As he was ready to take our credit card he told us they don't allow pets. He called his supervisor and asked her to tell us over his cell phone that they had new ownership and would not accept pets anymore despite their website and other booking sites. They said they would refund us, but to call Hopper who we booked through. We called and spent an hour on the phone with Hopper, and Hopper said they denied the refund. read more

The pictures of this Inn are lovely for sure. We made reservations for three rooms and on arrival found the following. The elevator was broken to the second floor (we had all 2nd floor rooms). The carpets in all three rooms were filthy. The showers were maybe 2' square in a tiny bathroom. All the internet pictures show large bathrooms and garden tubs. The thermostat in one room was broken and the room was cold. The furniture in all rooms looked like old college dorm room stuff. We moved to the Holiday Inn instead and it was great. I would definitely never recommend this to anyone and it was more expensive than the Holiday Inn. It was poorly and incorrectly represented on Hotels.com for sure. A day of Beer and Cheesesteaks with Amigo Dan and Cousin in-law Fargo. Spoiler Alert - the cheesesteak was average at best. It came with beer cheese and Waynebrook Inn made potato chips. We ordered Onion & Bacon jam, Kelso (hot) sauce and sriracha ketchup. My boyfriend and I booked a room here for 2 nights for a wedding and we checked out the morning after the first night. Simply put, the room was absolutely filthy. A radiator in the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months, and had a bunch of miscellaneous liquid drops and stuff on it. I took a moistened piece of TP and took a bunch of it off, so it wasn't stains. The toilet was disgusting. The room had not been dusted in ages and there was a thick build up of dust in multiple places. The mirrors were not cleaned. The faucet in the bathroom did not appear clean. The carpet, towels, and sheets felt like there was a film on them. There was a smudge of some red residue on the do not disturb sign. We found multiple black dots on the sheets that could be brushed off so they weren't stains but made me worried about what they were from. The ceiling had water damage and a tile was falling down. I could feel the springs in the mattress and it was concave in the center. The wallpaper was peeling off the bathroom walls on every edge. My boyfriend is much less picky than me and even he was grossed out. Within 20 minutes of getting there we had booked a room at a different hotel for the next night and only stayed the night because it was 10pm. When I checked out early, I talked to the person in charge of housekeeping, who I showed these pictures to and she said she would talk to whoever cleaned it. But this room hasn't been properly cleaned in months, minimum. This much dust and residue doesn't build up over a single hotel stay. She called the manager and told him I said the room was filthy and he didn't seem surprised at all. They at least refunded us, but I had to call again to make that happen because it wasn't processed the first time. In addition to these issues, the hotel is locked between 8-9pm and if you check in after that you need to call the number and wait for someone to let you in. The front desk seems unmanned all the time and just has a sign on it to call them. No one was manning it when we got there and no one was manning it the next morning when we checked out. So there isn't much service to speak of, but at least they were willing to refund without argument. We ended up at the Marriott Courtyard in Coatesville, which was as close to the Brandywine Manor wedding venue in Honey Brook as this place, and has the regular amenities and housekeeping you expect at a hotel. read more

You must stay here! It's beyond charming. I stay in historic hotels whenever I can. I travel all over the USA and the Waynebrook is now my all time favorite I recommend getting a King room. They are beautiful and very colonial. There are three pubs in the Waynebrook which keeps things interesting if your staying a few days. The staff and owner are friendly, gracious and truly hospitable in the traditional sense of the term. If your just passing by on the Turnpike near Morgantown, skip all the typical hotels and make the short drive down to The village of Honey Brook and stay at the Waynebrook. Worst place we have ever stayed. The room was small which I could be ok with but it was dirty and disgusting. The carpets were stained, the ceiling tiles clearly were water damaged, the sheets were dirty with human body hair and dirt, the comforter was stained and if that wasn't enough, when we walked in the AC was on full blast. The room was 60 degrees and freezing. We tried setting the heat to 70 and after several attempts it never came on. I asked the desk attendant and she said it wasn't working in other rooms also and they let management know. She also told us that there were no other clean blankets. It was freezing all night long. This was the absolute worst stay of our lives. I'd sleep on their doorstep before I'd ever stay in one of those rooms again. read more

This place has potential... or maybe it had it before and then lost some of it. We booked a one night stay after doing some farm touring/animal petting/serious shopping in Kettle Kitchen. When we pulled up we saw that there is a restaurant on site and was a bit relieved that we didn't have to drive through the cornfields to find dinner. Upon entering there is a small desk and the restaurant space to the right and behind. We asked at check-in when the restaurant opens for the evening (because it was completely dark) and was told that the restaurant closed down two years ago. We also discovered a bar in the basement that is also closed. The elevator is old, and needs updating. It is slooooowwwww , the numbers on the buttons are all lopsided and the doors take a while to open, leaving you to think you were stuck. After exiting the elevator we discovered that there were only two rooms on our floor (plus). There is a sitting area on each floor and vending, ice and coffee maker on the 2nd floor. I don't know about other rooms but my room was huge. Queen size bed, two end tables, two chairs, armoire and desk table. The bathroom is a shower stall, closet, soaking whirlpool tub, toilet and bidet. Towels are plenty, and there are toiletries (although cheap toiletries). The decor is old, but I think it's part of its "charm". It was a bit stuffy and old smelling but we opened up the windows and it was gone in a few hours. The Windows have no screens which worried me a bit because we were amidst all kinds of animals and didn't want to wake up with a new pet (were city folk... we don't know what lurks out here). Free breakfast in the morning... coffee/tea, frozen jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches, yogurts, juices, muffins, etc. nothing spectacular but something to grab before you hit the road. Free wifi and pet friendly. There's some peeling paint At the elevator entrance, and I had a water stain on my ceiling. There was no one at the check out desk when we were leaving so we just left... sorry! No hair dryer or iron. The hotel wasn't terrible and I would have liked to give a higher rating. I would stay here again even with the flaws. Perhaps they'll make the needed updates and get at least the bar running. They have a lot of space (in door and outdoor) and it's a shame they're not utilizing it. read more

What a Diamond in the rough!!! I was looking for somewhere close to my son and daughter in laws home (Coatesville) to get a bite and have a bit of libations and found "A Long Way Home" restaurant in the Waynebrook Hotel. I'm glad I did. Had the pot roast sandwich and my friend had the prime rib sandwich. Both with homemade potato chips. EXCELLENT!!! Do yourself a favor and don't pass this Diamond by!! read more

This was my second time staying here. Last time was 5 or 6 years ago. Legs just say they have done nothing to the property since then. The decor is hodge podge and old and worn. This place needs a major makeover. The bathroom has no counter space which is probably why there is no hair dryer either. The bed was a four poster with a nasty dust gathering cover on it. The water pressure is non existant. Lastly the horrendously slow elevator is crowded with 2 large plastic trees that are covered in dust. For $180 a night. Just way overpriced. read more

It's a shame that this historic building has become such a rundown inn. The room was dated and the bathroom was just plain skeevy--moldy shower with peeling , moldy wallpaper and grubby floor. We were in a room at the front of the house and the trucks were pretty loud all night. The food at the grill and pub downstairs was very good, however. This place is not closed! My friend and I checked in here yesterday very late and were still received graciously by the manager. Currently they are experiencing staffing issues but it seems that they are committed to making this a viable business again. The price right now is just 90 a night which was a steal considering that the average chain motel rate in the area was around 75. We were even allowed to leave whenever we wanted before night on the day we checked out without further penalty, which I've never had happen in any other motel, inn, or hotel I've stayed at. For any low season travelers in the area, this is a must! read more

In the middle of a pandemic, not only were none of the staff wearing face masks (as required by law), but when I came in for a pickup, several of them also felt the need to tell me- enthusiastically- that I didn't need to wear a mask (which is also not true, although only according to whatchamacallit- oh yeah, the law). When I left it on, they transitioned smoothly to just mocking the idea of wearing a mask. I understand that wearing a facemask is somehow a political opinion during the COVID-19 pandemic, but at the very least you'd imagine that food service workers could get over it, if not for themselves then at least for the safety of their customers. Although, I guess that doesn't apply if you don't even believe the pandemic is real at all (as one of the many people gathered near the cash register kept saying). read more

The folks at the Waynebrook enthusiastically helped us accommodate and feed an extended family of 40 for a local wedding. From the planning stage to the wedding "After-party" to the "Day After Brunch", we were graciously received and sincerely welcomed. The Inn is a historic building and some of the rooms could use a bit of updating but the towels were fresh and all surfaces were clean. The service was top notch! read more

This Inn is NOT closed. The staff was MORE than accommodating (allowing us to check in 2+ hours early bc of a wedding we needed to go to). The room was HUGE, CLEAN and quaintly decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable. It's an historic building in a sleepy little PA town - NOT the Holiday inn - but to be honest thats why we liked it. The hot water was plentiful after it came up - and yes it took a little while (the staff let us know ahead of time) bc the building is OLD - again, which makes it a special place to stay. PS It is renovated. They had a continental breakfast which I'm hoping one day they could expand to a full B&B style breakfast. But it was ample and easily accessible. The only drawback was that the Bistro and Bar were still closed. AGAIN THE INN IS OPEN - and the staff is personable and very hospitable. read more

The whole place smelled, the air conditioning did not work, the sheets were stained, the bathroom walls had mold on it, the shower tub was dirty as well as the toilet, there was a hole in the ceiling tile, and the staff was unfriendly. There was no coffee maker in the room as stated on our booking. The breakfast was not a breakfast, but a continental breakfast, this was not stated on our booking. We booked this last minute on a summer weekend on a long 2000 mile trip home. It was one of the few hotels that still had availability that wasn't price gouging. Pros: price There's a restaurant and pub on premises and I must say, the food was surprisingly delicious. I had the strip steak and it was so good, I wasn't expecting it to be but it was. Perfectly cooked to medium rare. The restaurant is updated and nice. Cons: the "inn" part of this establishment isn't as updated as the restaurant. Your neighbors can def hear you when next to shared walls, no sound proofing. Everything is frozen in time in 1991. Mauve carpeting that has never been replaced, flower bordered wallpaper, basement or office like ceiling tiles, furniture from early 90's. Bathroom is definitely from the 1980's. This hotel was probably adorable 30 years ago and had a b&b feel but now it kind of needs bit of a power wash. I will say this, it wasn't "dirty", we needed one night of sleep and it was suitable for that. If they pull out the carpet and replaced it with something else it would be a huge improvement, not the kind of carpet you want to walk barefoot on. You can tell that everything is 30 years old but has been properly cleaned continuously for 30 years and so yes, there is a certain degree of rundown element to it but I didn't feel completely grossed out and let's face it, this is an inn in a sleepy rural town, probably family owned, not some chain. Fabric headboard has to go and carpet has to go. Surfaces were dust and dirt free but I wouldn't sit on the couch or use the comforter. Walls are paper thin. From the bathroom i could hear very loud and clearly the tv in the room next to ours. I checked for bed bugs, no sign of them at all. For a night, it's good. And honestly for the price, it's fine. It's pet friendly. Restaurant has outdoor dining and the staff in both restaurant and inn were very nice. Advice to to owners: rip up carpets and replace them with vinyl or tile, it would make a world of a difference in the cleanliness feel of the place especially better cleanup for guests with pets. Maybe throw a fresh coat of paint on outside of establishment and get rid of any headboards that have fabric. Would I look to stay here again as a first choice in Lancaster area? No. Would I stay more than a night? No. Would I eat at restaurant again? Yes. Did I feel unsafe? No. Did I feel grossed out? Not really. Could it be a bit cleaner? Yes. read more

This is a lovely building with mediocre food at best. We went for a late Sunday lunch and ordered paninis - a Julius and a Parm. The Julius came in a wrap and tasted very bland - just a chicken sandwich in a warmed up wrap. The Parm looked like a panini but was incredibly dry. I had to ask for extra sauce. There was almost no cheese on the sandwich but the chicken was good. Their house made chips were delicious. Maybe burgers and pizzas here are good, but the paninis weren't worth the money. read more

I was disappointed!! The room was huge and rustic , which was cool. However there was no tissue box. ( I had a cold ) I had to grab the ONE roll of tissue off of the roller to keep by the bedside . There was no pen and or paper, needed it to write down a take out order as the kitchen downstairs was closed . THE HEAT DIDN'T WORK !!!!! I turned up the thermostat and it didn't work . I slept like a baby, and have nothing bad to say about The Waynebrook Inn!! I've been addicted to paranormal videos on youtube lately, and when I first look at Waynebrook I was thinking "oh no" but that thinking was so far off!! I only stayed here for one night. The people seemed extremely friendly but I sort of expected that from the location. The room I got was pretty big but my friends, who paid the same price, got much smaller rooms which didn't really make sense. While the room was impressive and the bed was super comfortable, I didn't like that the bathroom was ridiculously small, there were only like 5 channels on tv, and the room didn't come with an iron. The complimentary breakfast left a lot to be desired. It was filled with sugary treats. The restaurant served bland food. For a pricey room, I was expecting a lot more but surprisingly, I would get a lot more out of a holiday inn for a much cheaper price. Not sure if I will come back. Very very nice place to stay. Stayed in the deluxe jacuzzi room. The room was large and had more of a feel of a very comfortable bedroom than a hotel room. The entire Inn is very clean and well kept. The bathroom/jacuzzi room was HUGE. And the jacuzzi fits two easily. Lots of closet and furniture space. The bed was very comfortable. The staff is very helpful/courteous with any questions you may have. We ate in the Bistro 10 restaurant that is located in the inn. We were a little concerned about the food since it only received fair reviews; but the food was excellent as was the service. Would not hesitate in going back to both the Inn and the restaurant. read more

My husband and I stayed two nights at the Waynebrook Inn. It was our first time to Amish Country...and we loved the experience. Honeybrook is just a few miles from Intercourse, Paradise and other communities in Lancaster Counties....strongly recommend the 55 minute buggy ride through the countryside which leaves from the Amish Village in Intercourse. Pay with cash or check. Back to the Inn. It was wonderful...our room was lovely. Beautifully appointed...with a Victorian touch. So peaceful and quiet...comfortable bed and amazing pillows! On the property there is a very nice restaurant, sports bar and pub. The Pub has music over the weekend. The staff throughout is wonderful...the service was great. We can't wait to go back...and hope to do so in the fall. read more

This place is terrible. Our room reeked of cigarette smoke and we were told that we were no where near the smoking room. The shower was insanely small and my husband who is over 6' could barely take a shower. We switched rooms and the room that we moved to had a very noisy radiator, which made it hard to sleep. The wallpaper in the bathrooms of both rooms was moldy and ripped. We would never return. read more

Not bad but small problems. Biggest problem is the broken elevator. Thank goodness we were on the 1st floor. Lots of traffic noise all day and all night. Food okay but they only have lunch on Friday and Saturday. Lots of stained ceilings from water leaks. Be sure to ask for a room with a tub shower otherwise the stall showers are the size of a telephone booth. Most of the staff is friendly and helpful with one big exception, very rude. read more

I stayed here over the weekend for a one night stay. The staff is friendly and the room was clean. That sounds like the start of a good review but that is where the good part ends. The deluxe room was very small. I brought in food to eat for dinner and there was not a place to actually sit down and eat. I ended up using a chair for my dining table and the bed as my seat. Tried to watch the cable tv during dinner to only find out that half the included stations were either blacked out or the signal was so scrambled that you could not watch the show. So instead of having a choice of say 50 stations, you only got 20 watchable ones. Couldnt watch the stations I like such as ESPN or any of the major four networks so those 20 didnt help me much. The wifi is free but is slow and spotty. Hey, its free so take it at face value. The shower was very small too. I call it a telephone booth shower. I think its the smallest shower allowed by law. Hard to maneuver in that little shower to get clean. To top it off, the water control stuck out of the wall like 4 inches so if you moved the wrong way you would hit it and turn a hot shower into a cold shower instantly! Onto the worst night of sleep in my life. The bed was actually comfortable, no issue there. The AC fan would be turning on/off all night and it was loud enough to wake me up from a sound sleep (and I am a heavy sleeper). So I turn off the AC in the middle of the night to fix the problem. Well, around 3am there was a neverending creeky noise coming from the wall. Worse then the AC noise! And no way to turn this off! So from 3am onwards I was not able to sleep. They do serve a comp continental style breakfast in the morning which isnt bad (cereal, muffins, bread, yogurt, waffle maker) so the free coffee helped keep me awake that morning. And when I got back to my room ready to pack up and leave, the creeky noise was gone. Too bad I could catch some more winks. read more

I am going to tag onto what Paul S said on Aug 10th. I checked in today...5 days after his stay and the AC was out in the hotel completely...and has been since Aug 14th... so I guess we know what the clanking sounds were with the AC. I was asked by the front desk if anyone called to inform me.. they had not. My biggest concern was that I had selected this place because they accept animals. I am always concerned about the quality of places that accept animals but to date have not been disappointed more than once by other hotels. This hotel was clean.. and charming and the staff couldn't be better, really... So why only a 3? Honestly, I would give it higher if it weren't for the AC, however, I gave a 3 because of the effort that the staff put forth to make this unbearable situation bearable. I was informed of the no AC problem after arrival.. I had driven 7 hours to get here for a wedding on the 16th and would be checking out on the 17th. (I arrived the 15th) At first they put me in a room with just a fan. I walked upstairs to find another couple with their door open and they commented that I was getting the room with AC because of the dog.. at least that is what they had been told... key information in my next steps. I called the front desk and discussed this with them. They quickly moved me to the room with the AC.... great, right?? Well, the room was bigger and nicer but the AC was only 5000 btu's. With the AC running, the room was still 86 degrees. I was going to have to leave my dog there during the day on Sunday during the wedding. I had this conversation with the front desk and asked for an additional fan. Well, the owner had only approved 6 AC units and a fan for the remaining rooms... so no extra fans. I asked them to go out and get more but the front desk didn't feel that the owner would approve.. afterall, he is selling the place so he doesn't have much interest in it. Understandable....????? Not in my mind but what could I do. I didn't get upset.. the young man was simply doing the best he could in an awful situation. He was truly great... he was professional but clearly stressed and upset that he couldn't please everyone.. I know he was doing his best. After the sun went down the temp dropped in the room and it was actually comfortable. Today is the first of my two day stay.. I will most likely sleep well and I did have a nice steak in the restaurant where the food was fantastic and the service was up to par with the rest of the staff service. They were outgoing and willing to do what they could to make sure people were as comfortable as humanly possible given the situation. I stayed positive and worked with them to help me... it wasn't the end of the world and I was compensated for the inconvenience... I would stay here in the future simply because the staff made me feel great about being there. Thanks to all of you for what I am sure is an underpaid effort!!! You deserve all 5's on this review. This place looks great from the outside, and the people who work here are very nice. So, if you're in the neighborhood, take a look and talk to the nice folk. But don't stay here unless your only alternative is your car. The common areas and our room weren't vacuumed. The wallpaper was peeling. The bathroom had black mold in the corners and in the shower. The wallboard was broken in places, revealing wiring in the walls. There is no coffee maker or refrigerator in the room. read more
