A day of Beer and Cheesesteaks with Amigo Dan and Cousin in-law Fargo. Spoiler Alert - the cheesesteak was average at best. It came with beer cheese and Waynebrook Inn made potato chips. We ordered Onion & Bacon jam, Kelso (hot) sauce and sriracha ketchup. Between the wonderful building, Cliff's hospitality, Rachel's service, Mad Elf on tap and the sauces, no one gave the cheesesteak a second thought.

This is a sweet hotel with a very interesting history from the 1740s. It is dog friendly with a restaurant and pub. Prices are excellent. We are looking for our weekend here.

You must stay here! It's beyond charming. I stay in historic hotels whenever I can. I travel all over the USA and the Waynebrook is now my all time favorite I recommend getting a King room. They are beautiful and very colonial. There are three pubs in the Waynebrook which keeps things interesting if your staying a few days. The staff and owner are friendly, gracious and truly hospitable in the traditional sense of the term. If your just passing by on the Turnpike near Morgantown, skip all the typical hotels and make the short drive down to The village of Honey Brook and stay at the Waynebrook. The rates are good and the place is memorable. Highly recommended

This place has potential... or maybe it had it before and then lost some of it. We booked a one night stay after doing some farm touring/animal petting/serious shopping in Kettle Kitchen. When we pulled up we saw that there is a restaurant on site and was a bit relieved that we didn't have to drive through the cornfields to find dinner. Upon entering there is a small desk and the restaurant space to the right and behind. We asked at check-in when the restaurant opens for the evening (because it was completely dark) and was told that the restaurant closed down two years ago. We also discovered a bar in the basement that is also closed. The elevator is old, and needs updating. It is slooooowwwww , the numbers on the buttons are all lopsided and the doors take a while to open, leaving you to think you were stuck. After exiting the elevator we discovered that there were only two rooms on our floor (plus). There is a sitting area on each floor and vending, ice and coffee maker on the 2nd floor. I don't know about other rooms but my room was huge. Queen size bed, two end tables, two chairs, armoire and desk table. The bathroom is a shower stall, closet, soaking whirlpool tub, toilet and bidet. Towels are plenty, and there are toiletries (although cheap toiletries). The decor is old, but I think it's part of its "charm". It was a bit stuffy and old smelling but we opened up the windows and it was gone in a few hours. The Windows have no screens which worried me a bit because we were amidst all kinds of animals and didn't want to wake up with a new pet (were city folk... we don't know what lurks out here). Free breakfast in the morning... coffee/tea, frozen jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches, yogurts, juices, muffins, etc. nothing spectacular but something to grab before you hit the road. Free wifi and pet friendly. There's some peeling paint At the elevator entrance, and I had a water stain on my ceiling. There was no one at the check out desk when we were leaving so we just left... sorry! No hair dryer or iron. The hotel wasn't terrible and I would have liked to give a higher rating. I would stay here again even with the flaws. Perhaps they'll make the needed updates and get at least the bar running. They have a lot of space (in door and outdoor) and it's a shame they're not utilizing it.

This was my second time staying here. Last time was 5 or 6 years ago. Legs just say they have done nothing to the property since then. The decor is hodge podge and old and worn. This place needs a major makeover. The bathroom has no counter space which is probably why there is no hair dryer either. The bed was a four poster with a nasty dust gathering cover on it. The water pressure is non existant. Lastly the horrendously slow elevator is crowded with 2 large plastic trees that are covered in dust. For $180 a night. Just way overpriced.

Hole in the ceiling tile in our room.

I truly cannot express my gratitude to the Churchtown Inn staff for the experience I went through…read morewith them. I had originally booked a 2-night stay with them for my parents as a combined Mothers Day gift/Dad's birthday gift (around May/June). My father was sick with cancer at the time, and between hospital visits and treatments, my parents seriously needed a little getaway. However, due to my dad's illness, it was often very difficult to set dates for them -- every day can bring something new and unexpected. I had to call maybe 4 times to reschedule the stay -- each time, the staff being so incredibly empathetic and kind. There was never even an ounce of frustration from them, each time telling me 'not to worry' and checking in on my Dad. There were calls I had to make in which, after confirming the dates and my name, they would immediately ask how my Dad is doing and wishing my family well. I couldn't believe they remembered who we were, and had it in their hearts to ask about him! Well -- we fell on some very difficult times and lost my father in August. We had most recently moved their reservation to September, so we very quickly had to reassess. My family decided to gift the 2-night stay to some incredibly supportive friends of ours, but when I called and spoke with the staff -- they could immediately tell something was wrong, and once again hit me with the utmost empathy, kindness, and patience. They immediately offered to issue a full refund, but instead, I asked them to just change the names on the reservation and we gifted it to some friends. I truly couldn't wait for my friends to visit and tell me all about their stay. They had nothing but wonderful things to say! They told me that the staff was so generous and kind, the room was stunning, and the local hiking trails were absolutely beautiful and worth even just a day trip from where we live in NJ. They enjoyed everything about their stay! And they said the food was just divine! They said it's definitely a place they would return to, and I cannot wait to pay a visit myself and see all the things Churchtown has to offer in person! I can confidently say that based on my experiences with the staff just over the phone, this is a wonderful establishment who is deserving of all the success. Churchtown is #1 on my list i'd like to actually experience in person, and I surely cannot wait to do so!!!!

Sometimes things work out…read more I just spent two months in the Holiday Inn in Morgantown. I hadn't planned on staying that long, but sometimes life throws you a curveball. The hotel though, they were always very accommodating. All the staff is great. I can't say enough about them. Jose is a wonderful person who brings sunshine and laughter and pleasantness to you when you get your breakfast in the morning. (Not included, just so you know, but totally worth it and affordable, like 12 bucks for all you can eat breakfast which is sooooo good.) He makes you feel like you're very welcome and very much at home. It's a nice cozy feeling. He's a great guy. (and the food is so good). Noelle and Helen work at the front desk and they are just wonderful. They're the kind of people you're just always happy to be around. They make you feel like you're wanted and welcome and appreciated and nice to see you in a genuine way. There were no forced smiles, it was just a good experience to see them. Noelle will give it to you straight and make a bunch of great jokes. And always be accommodating and helpful. Helen is such a sweet woman and just makes me feel warm inside knowing I know she knows I'm there.. She is just that kind of person you like being around because they're always comfy. Heather at the bar is a wonderful person. She and Jose work the restaurant at night. What a trooper. As you can imagine she puts up with the rigmarole of the daily bartender stuff but she does it with such grace, often great partnering with Jose. They work very well together. Heather is kind and sweet and genuine and honest and real. It's always a very pleasant experience with her. She will tell you exactly what she's thinking and feelin and it'll be delivered in a good way you'll enjoy for whatever mood you're in. She's really good at her job, a great person, knows how to handle any situation or environment, so you should tip her well! Because you got a good thing out of it! Jonathon the General Manager is a really really great guy. Salloon Cowboy Kinda type. He is the kind of guy that will go to bat for you no matter what it takes, he puts the guests first. He is a prime example of how a hotel should be run. He understands what you need and why you need it, and he actually genuinely cares about things.. He really gives a hoot. And he's silly too, once you get to know him like I did. He's the kind of guy you want in your corner, because he'll have your back no matter what. He's polite, kind, smart and graceful. And I had nothing but pleasant experiences with him. The housekeeping staff is always so kind and nice. You have to request housekeeping, but they are very friendly and polite and aren't intrusive. Whatever you need they can take care of for ya! And I haven't even mentioned the amenities... Free coffee every morning. There's a 24/7 gym with everything you'd need in it. And then there's a lovely pool... and hot tub.. what a way to relax and just unwind... and forget about the day and just play around.... such a wonderful thing to have... open from 10 to 10. Also! There's a walkable McDonalds, and a Casino right around the corner! And you should also check out the Heritage (restaurant) great place to eat around the corner. So.. in conclusion.. I didn't expect to find myself at the Holiday Inn. And I didn't expect to stay as long as I did at the Holiday Inn. But I can say that I sure loved every moment I was there. It was such a wonderful time that you wouldn't really think of in a hotel in Morgantown. A quaint little spot with all the right things.. I really enjoyed my stay. Would very much recommend.

I liked the layout of the suite. Plenty of room to work, watch the game, relax and the bathrooms…read morelook to have been recently updated. Then there's the mattress, it was at least 20 years old and quite possibly the original mattress from when this hotel opened in 1985 under a different name. When I lifted the fitted sheet for the mattress, I found the mattress to be entirely yellow with some stains on it with a Serta label. They didn't even put a pad or topper on it so we were laying on a mattress that felt more like a boxspring, absolutely disappointed hence the one star Review.
