What can I say about Revolver! It's an awesome bar!!!…read more Staff are really friendly, and the customers definately are the most "drama-free" of the gay scene. It's a welcoming bar, with great background music during the day and then even some Karaoke with Audrey on a Tuesday, and loads of DJs all week!!! On a Saturday we've even got a Drag Queen during the day with bingo!! Only fault with Revolver is it's slightly over-priced drink - but I think there is many a concession that can be made for the attitude-free nature!

I walked down the stairs to Revolver and not one single male head turned. Hurt and frankly, shunned…read moreby this, i went to the bar and ordered a double Gin and Tonic to wallow in my ugliness with. I visited the bar with my GAY friend Mark. We were going to popular GAY club Polo Lounge afterwards, on Glasgow's self professed GAY night, a Wednesday. Still, the connotations didn't click, until i was approached by a lovely young lady, who's head i had most certainly turned. I felt a wee bitty daft. As you may have guessed, Revolver is one of Glasgow's many Gay bars, just off the affluent Merchant City area. The bar itself is tastefully decorated and houses a digital jukebox (which is free to use) and a pool table, which we made good use of. The staff are friendly and chatty, and drinks pretty reasonably priced. The bar is also proudly owned and operated by gay managers which perhaps gives them the edge over other, overtly commercialised bars. Definitely worth a trip, a brilliant wee place to start off an evening!

This bar is below a hotel and they think it's okay to play music so loud that it shakes the floor…read moreof the hotel. They also don't mind that patrons are yelling loud enough to be heard in Edinburgh. A noise complaint has been filed with Glasgow. This place needs to be shut down. A bunch of rude inconsiderate incompetents.

absolutely not an inclusive nor welcoming atmosphere…read more a group of 3 queer, female identifying friends and i were refused entry without the bouncer even looking at our ID with no real reason as to why. we were asked what we had to drink (to which one of my friends truthfully replied "nothing") and the bouncer said we were getting turned away. another group asked them why and they started saying how it was because we "looked too straight." these kind of comments can be extremely damaging and also offensive. a persons outfit does NOT determine their queerness and should not be used as a reason against them. another group of our friends (2f 1m) who were going were let in no problem. this leads me to wonder if we were also only turned away because it was a group of 4 women. the lgbtq+ community prides itself on being open and welcoming, however polo is exclusive, misogynistic and discriminatory. im shocked that in this day and age people are still forcing labels and stereotypes of queerness and gender on to people and at a gay club of all places. extremely disappointing.

AXM were extremely welcoming and helpful to a group of friends and myself after we got turned away…read moreat polo for no apparent reason. they gave us a stamp so we could get discounted entry and the colleagues were all very warm and inclusive. the atmosphere was great. only thing i have to complain about is the price of the drinks, but still cheaper than a lot of other places in glasgow (polo included).

My review of AXM is all about Menergy--the amazing drag night at the club. I attended the #AAAGirls…read moretour on the Sunday "matinee" show where doors opened at 6pm. The opening acts came on by 7:30 which was great as it meant there wasn't a lot of waiting around. The local Glasgow girls were amazingly talented with more than one singing live rather than your traditional lip-sync. Then the main attractions came out: Willam, Courtney Act & Alaska each performed solo (again each singing live) before performing as a trio. I was stood right at the front by the pole so was up-close and personal although I did have to lean and strain from time to time due to super tall people standing at the very front of the stage. After the show, since I had VIP tickets, I joined the queue for the meet and greet. This was by far the worst part as we queued in a narrow hallway that led to the toilets that had no ventilation or air conditioning. It was hot, cramped and people kept squeezing in and out to use the toilets. The long wait in the hot, small space was less than ideal. However then I got to have my photo taken with all three girls--Willam (shockingly) was the nicest and actually talked to me. Courtney and Alaska didn't say a word but what can you do. I got a super cute photo and had an amazing night and was home before 10pm. Normally shows are on a Saturday night and the main act doesn't come on until 1-2am so this was PERFECT for me. I'm always amazed by the level of international talent Lady Munter gets to perform at Menergy--all the top RuPaul's Drag Race girls have made an appearance but I was pleasantly surprised at the level of home-grown talent, too! I can't wait for my next Menergy night.
