Highly recommend anyone looking for a piercing to come here…read more Sue is super sweet and is so good. Came here Friday the 13th to get an industrial piercing. Getting pierced was as painless as can be. She was super nice instructing me to breathe while getting the piercing. Since getting it my piercing has been healing super well. With my previous piercing, it did get infected so super thankful for Sue taking the proper precautions to help my healing. Have other piercings in mind and I will definitely be coming back for more.

Piercings were 20% off. There were flash tats for $80, I believe. Sue was awesome ! The piercings ( I got two) didn't hurt. It's been a few days now and I can say they're healing well. Compared to getting my lobes pierced with a piercing gun, going to Sue is a world of difference. I'll be back for more ... even if a little bit more than going to a Claire's. I love the look of a ton of studs on my ears .. so many more to come! The shop is cool. Not very huge - you felt comfortable as staff is welcoming / nice. I drove from Oxnard to get pierced here as I had been following Sue for a bit on Instagram. She's also a great artist and has the best personality, is professional, keeps her station clean and her hands are light when piercing! Highly rec!

Santa Paula sits in the beautiful Santa Clara River Valley and is home to California's newest…read morenature preserve - which was the reason for my visit! I spent about 24 hours in the historic district and make a stop when I'm in the area - lots of cute restaurants and museums. The town calls itself the "Citrus Capital of the World" and agriculture is its main bread and butter. The town is completely surrounded by farmland and ag industry. The Chumash were the first to inhabit the area - then the town had an oil boom in the 1800s. The Union Oil Co's historic headquarters is now home to the town's oil museum. There are several other museums around, including an art museum. The chamber of commerce sits in a cute historic train depot surrounded by a huge park. There are lovely, giant murals everywhere you go in the historic district. A lot of them have to do with agriculture, the early settlers, and the movie industry as it used to also be headquartered here. You'll find the historic (and supposedly very haunted) Glen Tavern Inn in the historic district- Charlie Chaplin stayed there and it's beautifully preserved. Actor Steve McQueen spent the last few years of his life here - and a long list of movies, TV shows, and music videos have been filmed here (see the list on the town's wiki page). The Santa Clara River Preserve is just a few miles away from the historic district and is the newest nature preserve in California- having just opened in early 2024. It's 1000 acres of wild wetland and upland and sits on the river - tons of migratory birds pass through twice a year. It's amazing - highly recommend to any birders out there! Walking around the historic district in the evenings is a bit sketch however - there are lots of unruly, wild and unsupervised teenagers screaming and blocking the sidewalks and various questionable characters milling around - and lots of homeless in the parks. The area surrounding the historic district is very run down and felt extremely unsafe - so I would limit my activities to daytime in the historic district. But I still enjoyed exploring the town and would definitely come back for the museums. Rabalias Cajun restaurant was also fantastic! I'll be stopping there again next time I visit the nature preserve.
