My favorite was the house with the dog theme, they even had pup Christmas carols playing! Some residents also get involved as part of the experience. One was driving an old style classic truck with a Christmas tree and Santa in the trunk bed. Another was dressed as Santa riding around on a Segway wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. There were a few food vendors, from residents setting up a stand to sell cookies and hot cocoa to food trucks. We started right as the sun set and it was the perfect time as there was less crowd. Although some houses had not turn on their display at that time we were able to see it on the way back to the car. I find it much more enjoyable to walk than to drive. You get an up close view and can really appreciate the efforts that is put into it.

It was overall so clean too with trash cans lining the neighborhood. There is so much foot traffic and car traffic here so that was a surprise! I really loved seeing the canned drive container too! Thanks to the Gemini community for opening their neighborhood to us all! My only suggestion would be portapotties but I'm sure that would be an added expense. Maybe if it was token driven to help offset costs?

So, it's best to grab brunch or visit nearby sites like Serra Cross or the Ventura Pier before you shop. There are free parking lots in the area, but by the time we headed over around 11:30 am, all the free spots were taken, so we used the metered parking which was pretty reasonable. Mission San Buenaventura is located on Main Street and offers services. The church is beautiful and Sunday service was very well attended. You'll also find many thrift and antique stores with reasonable prices. I loved that Main Street included a variety of stores and restaurants without including the cheesy and touristy gift shops. We had an enjoyable lunch at Immigrant Son caffe, purchased some sodas at a really cool candy store called Rocket Fizz and visited Very Ventura, a gift shop with a nice collection of Ventura related gifts. I purchased some stickers for my Yeti and a hat.

There is a small stage in the center of downtown with live music. We had a great time exploring the area. There are a lot of thrift stores and even more places to eat lol. There are multiple free public parking lots so it might be a little hunt for a spot but it's free all day. Great place to spend a day or evening.

As I had never heard of the place I guessed it was a new business. Well, I guessed wrong. I was surprised to learn the place is celebrating 7 years in business. Before visiting Palm & Boy I checked out the photos on their Yelp page. What a beautiful location! I was like, that doesn't look like Ventura to me, that looks like Santa Barbara, wait, did I sign up for a Santa Barbara event? I checked the address. East Main Street, Ventura. Then I clicked on the map. Ah, the place is in Downtown Ventura. That's why I never heard of Palm & Boy: I really don't spend much time Downtown. For sure, on my own, I would have never have found out about Palm & Boy. So I've gotta say Thank You to Yelp for the invitation to this event! The store is located in a really beautiful courtyard, accessed right off Main Street. It really felt more like Santa Barbara than Ventura to me. Like a Paseo Nuevo vibe. I loved the setting. Attendees were afforded their choice of one drink and one food item off the menu. I decided to try a Chai Latte and an Acai Bowl (the Stoke). I have to say, that was one fantastic Chai Latte. Best chai latte I've had locally. I would definitely hit that again! The Stoke acai bowl was wonderful too. What I liked about it was that it was not overly sweet. In fact, it was rather tart. Like it made you kinda pucker up. That tart! And I really really liked the granola they use in their acai bowls at Palm & Boy. Good stuff! So, yeah, another really great YES event, showcasing a wonderful local business that I had never heard of and most likely never would. Thank You for hosting the event Palm & Boy! I look forward to many future visits. Thank you, too, to Yelp for the invite, and to our CM, Jara S. for putting together another fun event! Mikey C says: Palm & Boy, Five Stars all day!

Outdoor seating only available. Can get a bit cramped inside the small shop, when trying to order. Shop looked pretty clean. I was helped by Priscilla this morning. Priscilla, you were very friendly, informative & answered my questions. Thank you for recommending the Matcha Coconut Latte to me. I wouldn't have thought of that combination. & I appreciate you making it less sweet for me too!! The PB Bowl sounded inviting & was actually pretty good. I was surprised how much I got & it was topped above the brim. I ate about 1/2, got full & took the rest home. (Stick it in the freezer). It was busy when I arrived, then it was slow & picked right back up again... Cleaned off dirt off the table before & after... No restrooms here. Glad to see & meet fellow Elites. It's always nice to see each other. Even got to sit & chat a bit with a couple Elites. Thank You Again for the Treats Palm & Boy!! Thanks Yelp. & Thank you to our Central Coast South Community Manager Jara S. for the Treat O Clock Experience!!

At 9:30AM there was already a line with about 5 parties ahead of us. We only waited for about 20 minutes and we were able to sit al fresco to enjoy the sun & people watching. I ordered a Cortado with Oat milk for my espresso kick and my husband enjoyed the Tuscan Sunrise juice from the seasonal menu (fresh pineapple, orange, carrot, ginger, lemon and tumeric) that was refreshing and restoring. I loved their signature Breakfast Lasagna, which was fully stacked and hearty - layers of bacon, bechamel, prosciutto cotto, spinach, eggs, and mozzarella, all smothered in marinara and topped with a fried egg. It's more than filling and great to share with someone who ordered brunch entree on the sweet side like pancakes or Belgium waffles. My husband had the Chicken Avocado Bacon Panini with Swiss & cheddar cheeses, butter lettuce, garlic aioli and caramelized onions. He asked to omit the roma tomatoes. I had a bite and it was yummy...great for a lunchy entree. We finished the meal with another season menu item, the Pistachio Ricotta Cake. I could have ordered two...not to share, just for me. It was really good and I hope they keep it to their standard menu. The service was at a slower pace, but the server did check on us periodically. We'd definitely come back as we pass through and look forward to enjoying more brunchy Italian fare.

When something this mysterious, unexpected, fun, exciting or random happens in our beach bubble of Santa Barbara County, it must be added to Yelp for all to enjoy! The gossip and inquiries regarding this giant red stiletto heel in a farm field swirled all around the local KEYT news, Twitter, and of course, freeway gawkers. According to Santa Barbara's Siteline (who reached out directly to the owner of the property), "Dennis Pozzebon, saw the shoe by the side of Toro Canyon Road for a couple of days before deciding it was too good to pass up. Dennis spray-painted the shoe, which is made of foam, and installed it on the land where he dry farms." Now it is so popular that it has been added to Google Maps. Sadly, it wasn't placed out there in February of 2022 due to the Go Red for Women American Heart Association campaign as some hypothesized. To spot the heel: Head northbound on Freeway 101, between Ventura and Carpinteria. Just after passing Rincon Beach, across from Hobson Beach Park, look for the bright red triangular object in the field.
