My favorite was the house with the dog theme, they even had pup Christmas carols playing! Some residents also get involved as part of the experience. One was driving an old style classic truck with a Christmas tree and Santa in the trunk bed. Another was dressed as Santa riding around on a Segway wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. There were a few food vendors, from residents setting up a stand to sell cookies and hot cocoa to food trucks. We started right as the sun set and it was the perfect time as there was less crowd. Although some houses had not turn on their display at that time we were able to see it on the way back to the car. I find it much more enjoyable to walk than to drive. You get an up close view and can really appreciate the efforts that is put into it.

It was overall so clean too with trash cans lining the neighborhood. There is so much foot traffic and car traffic here so that was a surprise! I really loved seeing the canned drive container too! Thanks to the Gemini community for opening their neighborhood to us all! My only suggestion would be portapotties but I'm sure that would be an added expense. Maybe if it was token driven to help offset costs?

It was all gone by the time I got up there. All good, since I loaded up on Edamame which is my fave. The Slider was a great light bite & I enjoyed the Tempura Shrimp & Veggies. Tempura was good, but I think it would have been more fabulous with some tempura sauce :) I love dining here at Slate. It was nice to be out in the heated private patio, even though the winds were not in our favor lol. Thank you to everyone at Slate Bistro! We had a fantastic Yelp Event thanks to you. Thank you Ashley & Vince for having us. Shoutout to Joey for being such a wonderful server. Thanks Joey, for the Spicy Pineapple Margarita recommendation. Yum!! So grateful for our Central Coast South Yelp Community!! Couldn't have gone through another awesome year without our one & only CM Jara!! Jara, thank you so much for everything you do! You do a lot for us & our community. Thank You! Congratulations to all of the Yelpie Award Winners!! Woohoo!! So happy for all of you! I'm so happy for all my Yelp friends who won awards as well, and a special shoutout to my friend Dolores, who I've known before she joined Yelp. Dolores had already been supporting local businesses and truly represents what it is to be a part of this community. I had such a great time, as always getting to spend time with my Yelp friends is always amazing! The food was delicious, and so were the drinks. My favorite drink was Bad & Boujee. The food was also delicious, I especially enjoyed the shrimp! I love tempura shrimp. Thank you to Joey for being a great host and to the owners for being so friendly and welcoming. The decor inside the restaurant was gorgeous! Thank you so much to Slate for hosting, Jara, and YelpCentralCoast for organizing this wonderful event! I can't wait to see what next year brings!!

That was a HH the likes of which will never be seen again. But I digress...TODAY is today! Great, private parking lot with easy in/out. We came in for a lovely dinner and got just that. Seated immediately and in a comfy booth along the wall, perfect for people watching. SO. MANY. PEOPLE! I wasn't expecting a restaurant to be so full on a Tuesday night, but when you're as good as Ottavio's you develop a loyal following of locals who enjoy their time here. Many celebrations were obviously being had in just our little portion of the restaurant. There are multiple rooms, accommodating various sized parties, and the hot, delicious Italian faire just kept coming. Fresh, warm bread was delivered with our water and we dove into that doughy deliciousness strait away. Hubs went with a 50/50 plate of spaghetti and cheese ravioli with a meat sauce and added meatballs. I snuck a bite of the meatballs and they were very good, as was the sauce. I opted for the Tortellini Silvana, which was described as cheese tortellini w/sauteed chicken, fresh spinach, basil and sun dried tomato cream sauce. It was FABulous! Light and delicate sauce with full flavor. A generous portion, I took about 1/2 home! Our entrees each came with a choice of soup or salad. Hubs chose Italian Wedding and I went with Minestrone. (Side note: I knew well and good I would be having 2 soups, so I wanted to try both. ;-D) Both were made from scratch and delicious! I was impressed with how fluid the staff worked along side one another. Drinks then food then boxing and the check and - voila! - table turned and on to the next group, all while maintaining a welcoming and pleasurable attitude and friendly service. We are sure to have another meal here, next time we're craving old school Italian, homemade, handed down family recipes in Camarillo. Cheers! "CC"

~ CHASING CURRY DREAMS AND NAAN-FILLED FANTASIES ~…read more I love me some Indian food and am always excited to try new restaurants in town! A big thank you to Saffron for the fantastic meal and to the staff for their warm and attentive service. As soon as I walked in, the delightful aroma of spices hit me, and I loved the traditional decor. The tandoori chicken was the highlight of my meal, with the vegetable samosa coming in as a close second. Overall, it's a solid authentic spot for when my cravings hit, and I'll definitely need to return to try some of my regular go-to dishes, like lamb korma and chicken vindaloo and up the spice level!

And the cherry on the top is that we were supporting an independent and family owned business! This restaurant is located just off the 101 highway at the Ventu Park Road exit next to Ralph's grocery store in Newbury Park. We were treated to a lovely experience from the moment we walked in! The decor of the restaurant was really special- got me in the mood for a great experience. The night was kicked off with refreshments from the bar- we were offered wine, beer or soft drinks! The restaurant has a full bar with some unique beers like Kingfisher and they can make any cocktails your heart desires. To accompany our refreshments, we were offered tandoori chicken, samosas, garlic naan, curried cauliflower and butter chicken. To finish the meal, they provided rice pudding. The food was all mild, but I have been told that you can turn up the heat.....and they even have a spice challenge! The restaurant features both indoor and outdoor seating. Great to see they offer a small outdoor patio to enjoy the cooler night temperatures! Thanks for the great experience- Saffron Indian Cuisine & Bar, as well as Jara for organizing the event.

The place has a romantic date night feel, faux candles on the tables, booths available, etc. We lucked out by happening upon this place on a slow night and got a corner booth. They bring out a bread basket with dough knots and olive oil, which we didn't know about when we ordered their very tasty crunch garlic bread, so we ended up with a little too much bread. I forget the name of what my date ordered but it was a cream based sauce, a penne pasta, chicken with broccoli and sun dried tomatoes. If I came back I would get this dish, it was very flavorful. I got the Pollo Parmigiana which came with a side pasta and tasty veggies. It's a hearty dish with a big piece of mozzarella covered chicken. The veggies were the best part of the dish, which is an odd thing to say but that's how well done they were. My mini-me got a kids cheese pizza. It's the perfect size for a kid but he ate so much bread he couldn't finish his pizza, which I was fine with since I got to try the handmade pizza. The dough was my kid's and my favorite, but it did have a tad bit too much cheese. For dessert we had the spumoni which neither my date nor I were really fond of. I'd liken it to a weird tasting napoleon ice cream. However the cannolis were perfect, with a nice balance of crunch and sweet cream. Service was fast and friendly, very professional, and I was shocked to see this place was empty in a Saturday night. I hope it's not a sign of things to come because this is one of the best Italian restaurants in the county. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating.

We didn't drink wine tonight, but usually accent our meal with Italian Sangeovese Red Wine. Main course was Pollo Marsala and Steamed vegetables. I have the food specially prepared to accommodate diet needs, and the other dish was pene pasta with marinara with added salmon, broccoli and Carrots. Delectible! The service is bar non with atmosphere of a little italian restaurant playing delightful music to entertain diners, and low lighting for a romantic ambiance. Price is reasonable and well worth the evening. Notably, they make amazing homemade desserts that is such a refreshing end to top off the meal. Check out this place.... Dine in..... These beers are STRONG, so after my second sample I needed a break. We bought a giant pretzel then managed to get completely lost in the giant corn maze for about an hour. By the time we made it out we headed for the wine tent and sampled a few awesome wines there. Insider scoop: apparently if you buy tix online it's cheaper. I've been to a few Oktoberfests, this is my favorite in California. It gets a cooler crowd than the Alpine Village kegger, and younger than Big Bear. It was basically a really good value, the vendors didn't over charge and the people were cool.

There were a lot of beers I'd never tried, and wine as well, which was pretty great, the cups were $10 for 4 - which was Ok, plus I understand it's a fundraiser. I gather it's a flat fee for unlimited samples this year which seems like a MUCH better plan. I'd rather just hang out and try everything without trying to get tickets or whatever. The one thing IT WAS SO HOT! But I can't blame them for that, but this year I'm not wearing the heavy german outfit, shorts and sandals for me! The airplane museum was interesting, but I think what really sold it for me was how festive it was. Everyone was just friendly, happy & cool - I ended up meeting some people I became friends with & who are coming this year.
