I had heard of The Walled Garden from Ramblers Scotland friends but had not so far found time to explore and visit, in spite of recently walking in Devilla Forest. Truth to tell, I had looked for the place on my last walk but had been unable to locate it in the maze of forest tracks and paths in Devilla. It turns out to be well sign-posted from the main Kincardine-Dunfermline road but not so for walkers already in the forest. However, on driving directly to The Walled Garden, it proved to be a complete delight! After a 11/2 hour circular walk from the ample car park on a cold but bright March day, a walk around the garden, a visit to the really quality, clean loos and a light lunch made for a superb outing. The fare on offer was straightforward but of a very high quality. I especially enjoyed the Ploughman's Lunch, with a choice of cheeses and a salad accompaniment that was well above the normal garnish added in some eating places. The friendly staff, and the garden and landscaped surroundings, with views to the snow-capped Ochil Hills, make The Walled Garden a very special visitor experience whether a walker or casually driving by. Highly recommended. read more
