True Friends. That is what you get when you hire the Vondys. I chose them because they have a unique portfolio. Most other photographers use the same poses regardless of the couple. But the Vondys work with you to create beautiful photos. On the day of the wedding Shannon was bustling my dress and helping me with many little errands while taking photos! Shannon and Justin took the time to get to know us before the wedding and we spent the entire engagement photo session laughing and chatting. But aside from their great personalities their photos are amazing. I am awkward in front of cameras. But not in my wedding photos. My photos showed a beautiful bride with her charming yet stoic husband and all their family and friends in a perfectly lit hotel wedding. The reality was we were all hot,sweaty and spread out over multiple rooms in a hotel over a span of many many hours. I even got a giant mosquito bite on my back right at the beginning of the day bad enough that everyone's first reaction is OMG Mosquito Bite!!! (but you can't see it in any of my photos). Shannon and Justin really do go all out for their clients. I received my final photos right before Christmas so I ordered prints for all the parents. Unfortunately they would not arrive in time for Christmas but I placed the order anyway. I never notified the Vondys. Suddenly I get an email from them saying we noticed you ordered prints. Let me start off by saying this review is LONG overdue! We could not recommend Shannon and Justin more. I had done a ton of research on wedding photography and knew that we wanted someone to be able to capture our personalities and candid moments vs. super posed photos. At the recommendation of friends who booked The Vondys for their wedding a few years ago, my husband reached out about a year before our big day. Shannon and Justin were so great! When my fiancée (now wife) Laura and I were researching wedding photographers, Laura was immediately drawn to their beautiful images and the sense of ease that all the couples seemed to feel around them in their photos. My wife and I are thrilled that we selected Justin and Shannon for both our engagement shoot and our petite wedding. Our engagement shoot was at Griffith Observatory, and despite us both being camera-shy, we had a lot of fun. When we were looking for a wedding photographer we had gone to bridal shows and did some research online but what we were looking for was right in front of us the whole time. Well, a few hours north of us, but metaphorically speaking The Vondys were the perfect fit to capture our big day. We were referred to Shannon and Justin by an event planner in LA and as soon as we reached out, we knew they were the team for our wedding photography. We were having a destination wedding in Santa Monica and a small private ceremony on the beach. From the get go, they made things stress-free and extremely fun. Quick to respond and took the time to get to know us before actually meeting us. The day of the ceremony, they blended in like part of the family. The Vondys are the best. Period. If you are looking for photographers who are able to truly capture the essence of who you are, and create absolutely stunning images that you will be able to enjoy for a lifetime, hire Justin and Shannon. The Vondys were recommended through a mutual friend, and within the first few minutes of talking to them over Skype, we knew it was a match made in heaven. The Vondys are a husband and wife team that care about forming a connection with their clients. After all, the best pictures come when people feel relaxed and comfortable! We knew that having them around on our wedding day would actually make our day MUCH more fun and full of laughter. When we talked to them, they mentioned that they will do just about anything to make our day easier and stress free. It was the truth. When I was having a nervous breakdown about having to read vows in front of our guests (I'm not big on public speaking), Justin was able to make me laugh through the tears, and suggested that we could read the vows after our first look, just to clear away the jitters and avoid ugly crying in front of our friends and family. We decided to do just that, and it changed the whole trajectory of our day. The moment was special, private, and unique. Plus, we were able to cry our way through it before walking down the aisle. It took away my anxiety and hearing the vows again during the ceremony was amazing, as I was really able to really listen and not be terrified of having to speak next. Shannon, was our biggest cheerleader throughout the day. She made us feel like a million bucks with every photo she snapped and she was able to guide us through our day, making sure to capture us in our best light. We both know that we smiled more because of them, and we could not be more thrilled with how all of the photos turned out. Plus, as LGBTQ brides, it was wonderful to have photographers who embraced the meaning of "love is love" and have given us memories that will last a lifetime. Was hiring The Vondys the best thing that's ever happened to me second only to marrying my husband? No. It is the #1 best thing that's ever happened to me, second is marrying my husband. I don't think there are words to express our gratitutde to the Vondys or for the level of skill they possess. They were the only photographers we spoke with and we decided right then and there that they were the ones for us. They are so talented, hilarious, kind, and pay so much attention to you, you'll think you're their only client (which is definitely not the case!). From our first interaction with Shannon and Justin it was so simple, they made everything easy and comfortable. We met them for an engagement session and had so much fun, not to mention that the pictures were GORGEOUS!!! I didn't know my husband and I could look that good, plus our doggo received some headshots as well ;). Leading up to the wedding the Vondys were so helpful with recommendations on everything from vendors to how to handle and enjoy our actual wedding day. They worked so well with our other vendors, and even though we had the longest, most obnoxious list of family photos, they handled it like pros - obviously - because they are!! If you have the chance to hire the Vondys as your wedding photographers don't think about it another second, JUST BOOK THEM IMMEDIATELY. Not only did they capture our day beyond our wildest dreams, but they completely came through for us on the day in a way we never imagined. They are the nicest, coolest people, and when we started to get stressed out about a couple things that came up on our wedding day, they jumped in & handled the situation for us while simultaneously reassuring us that we needed to just enjoy the day and not worry about anything and that they would handle it - that's not even their job!
