We were very happy with our first purchases last Spring. So much so that we decided to make them…read moreour primary source for this year's hanging baskets. About a month ago we revisited them. We had saved last season's baskets because they complimented our exterior decor so well. Because of that we inquired as to whether we could reuse the baskets, and specify what flowers would be included in each arrangement. We were informed that we could do so on both counts. And, that we would be informed by phone when they were available for pickup. We heard nothing further. So, yesterday we called and inquired as to the status of our order. They informed us that the baskets were ready for us. So, we drove there, about a 25 minute drive from our home, late yesterday afternoon. Upon arrival we inquired of the female employee at the checkout counter about our baskets. At first she was unsure, but she inquired of the owner and ultimately the arrangements were located. However, only one basket (out of 5) contained the flowers we had requested. The employee checked the order records and no, the arrangements were not as ordered. So, they were returned to their workshop for correction. About ten to fifteen minutes later they were returned. But, when we went to pay for them we discovered that the price was about 20% higher than the previous year. When we inquired as to the reason we were told by two, of the approximately 14 year old, female employees (this is a Mennonite enterprise) that the increased cost was due to the reuse of our old baskets; that doing so made it "more work for them". We might have argued the point further with the female owner. However, she had left us to riding mow her lawn, while carrying her infant daughter on her lap. Needless to say, we probably will be buying our hanging baskets closer to home next year. Too bad.

Also the hours are a lot different than those mass retailer stores as well. But you have to remember that you are in the heart of a tiny town called Naples. So, this is what you get. Upon entry you are greeted with a large moose head hanging on the right, and the register right in front of you. There is a bright red sign that says, "Welcome to your neighborhood do it yourself center". I stood there for a bit until a man behind the counter asked if I needed help. I declined as I was snapping photos and then off to join my father-in-law pick out some nails for some flooring. A nice woman there let us open the package and test them in a transition strip to make sure they were the right size. I thought that was a nice personal touch and overall great customer service. They have a private parking lot, but you have to be careful pulling out. Traffic coming from the left can often move fast. Also, this place is next store to Joseph's Wayside Market so on weekend I suspect a lot of their customer park here.

Everyone, from Kurt, the Manager , to Morgan the delivery person, aim to please. I've struggled with coordinating the delivery times with folks from the Big Box stores but never at Wilcox. I ask them to deliver at a certain time and place and the material is always on site as requested. Kurt has been very helpful with pricing and the quality of the materials is excellent. I believe in supporting the local business establishments and sometimes that means paying a little more. But not with Wilcox, the pricing is very competitive and the service is superior, Tom Curtin
