This curley's is a pretty good off license, and it needs to be because the Asda is only about 2 minutes away and has the lure of sensational offers to bring customers in through the doors. The store has a good range of special offers and a wide range of spirit. Most goods in here are also chilled which is such a good thing as it means you can get stuff here and be ready to go rather than having to wait to booze or stain your drinks with ice! I hate ice, your beverage should already be cold, it doesn't need diluted!

We discovered the Wine Cellar website a few years ago while looking for a shop that would select…read moreand deliver a mixed case of wine to family to enjoy over the holidays. Their website featured mixed cases at various price points. Wine is the perfect gift, one size fits all and always appreciated. Anne Berry was very helpful with selecting the wines and processing the order. Since then we have continued to make the annual Christmas purchase, we also stop in to purchase wine, beer and spirits when we visit family in Douglas as the shop is walking distance from the house. Their primary focus is wine but they also offer a good selection of spirits, beers and specialty mixers. The shop is conveniently located in a residential area with plenty of parking. There is always someone inside whether it is 11 in the morning or 1 at night. Russell Cellars always runs promotions and there has been many times that I have gone to this off license not sure of my tipple and come out with something completely random. A surprise carryout equals a surprise hangover and I can blame plenty of awful hangovers on Millisle's Russell Cellars. The interesting thing about this off license is that it is all behind the counter, I do not know what this says about the citizens of Millisle? But sometimes this makes it difficult to chose what you want. I think this is because in part there is so much choice with a wall of spirits behind the counter. The staff are helpful and always chatty but the I think they would get annoyed if you kept asking to read bottles.

Sainsbury's Off Sales is the best in Belfast. It has a vast range of wines, beers, spirits and any…read moreother beverage you could possibly want. In my opinion it sells the best wine of all the supermarket chains. I rate it even more highly than some of the smaller independent off licences. The reason for this is that Sainsbury's wines are definitely, by far, the best quality, selection and price. It's also a lovely large, well designed off licence with a bright, clean feel and exceptionally helpful staff. Top marks.

It is it such a thought in mind that I imagine this place was created! This place does everything you would possibly want from your local off license. It sells a range of snacks for consumption with your booze and a good few mixers for whenever you are dabbling in the potentially dangerous world of spirits! The store likes to keep its large crates of cider and beer in the walk in fridge which is a wonderful feature that not even big supermarkets can rival! They also have an extensive range of wines, but I know nothing about it so I shall comment no further. The booze is all reasonably enough priced, and you aren't paying too much over the odds for the convenience of not having to head long distances for your hooch, which is acceptable in my books!

All wines are grouped by country of origin and the selection is vast. They also stock some gins, whiskies, liquors and spirits. Staff are exceptionally helpful, knowledgable and pleasant. Direct Wine Shipments run wine tasting events, classes and evenings all year round. I'd highly recommend the Christmas Wine Tasting, which at £20 makes for a lovely afternoon on a cold, wet, windy November or December day. These book up extremely quickly though, so you need to book tickets immediately when you see the events appear on Direct Wines Shipments website. I recently attended the late November Christmas Wine Tasting Event which was brilliant. Hosted by wine expert Peter Morris Wilson, we sampled ten wines and heard all about them in proper wine speak. An informative and fun day. Our wines were five whites including Champagne, Alvarinho, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, four reds and a dessert wine served with Ditty's Mince Pies. There was plenty of crusty white bread on the tables and our wine glasses were quickly filled, which I was amazed at as approximately 100 people attended the event. It was superbly well organised. There was also a 15% discount on all wines on the day of the Christmas Wine Tasting, so a lot of people took advantage of this and purchased bottles and boxes of wine.
