The Villager is the main pub in Crossgar, and it also has an off license and a restaurant area under its roof. Everything about this place is pretty good quality, and it serves the local people rather well.
The decor is nice and modern, also it does feel a bit dark in here at night time as the lighting is rather dull and there is no natural light at all. The restaurant here is also surprisingly good, which is nice as the vast majority of pub food out there is mediocre at best! I was here recently with my woman and had a delicious vegetable soup, lovely light battered cod and a crispy and moreish pavalova for dessert, which was £30 for the both of us.
This was great value as usually they do two courses for two people and wine for this price but we don't drink wine!
This place might be better avoided when its overly busy unless you are a local as the clientele acan get somewhat boisterous to say the least! read more
