Good food. Outrageous prices. Fake smiles from the owner. Rest of the staff is genuinely pleasant. Patio is loud, right on the road.

Kaffe has live music most evenings. The evening we went they ran a game night at the same time. It was loud. It was fun. We joked around with strangers. Everyone was relaxed. And did I say it was a pub? Oh draft beer was so delicious! Good times for everyone. The food at Kaffe is 3.5 stars at best. My beef stew was loaded with beef brisket chunks and vegetable bits. It was bold, delicious, down to earth, country styled. My boyfriend described his pasta as rich and hearty. Portions of both entrees were not generous but they were satisfying nevertheless. They surely weren't fancy. Most dinner offereings were priced at $18. Compared to most other restaurants charging over $20, Kaffe had the cheapest dinner that filled you up. Many patrons were french speaking. Yet the server was accomodating to us English speakers. I got a distinct impression that some people were regulars. If I was correct, this pub was the locals' social hub. How cool is that?

I rarely see Steak Tartare on a menu so I ordered that and enjoyed it, especially whatever sauce they put on the side. Speaking of sauces, the fries came with a side sauce that was also tasty. Vichyssoise was excellent, too! I loved the blackboard drawings and all the owl paraphernalia, too. All in all, a good meal, experience and without booze we had two nice lunches for around $40 pre-tip. Nice!

From the moment we got there, everyone was super accommodating despite the fact that we were like 2 minutes from the kitchen closing. No worries, got our dinner and drinks orders in quickly and service was just awesome. The food came out and we were blown away. You may wonder how a veggie burger and a hamburger could be that awesome but they were. My wife had a side salad with watermelon and mint that she demolished. I had the sirloin burger that was perfectly cooked with a side of garlic aioli that was to die for. The food here is awesome. Nothing to smack talk about and the service from Valerie was extraordinary. If you're in Wakefield, come here for sure.

Wakefield Mill Hotel is one of the Town's sightseeing and heritage spots. The main building is next to a fast running river. There is a small waterfall underneath a bridge. The view at the lookout point is breathtaking. I strongly recommend you to stop by Wakefield Mill to enjoy the view. Note that you cannot check out the inside of the hotel, though. We stayed at the Eco Lodge. It is a newer building on hotel ground. The building is LEED certified. There are many artistic paintings in the hallways. The room has contemporary furnishing, big TV, and Nespresso coffee. The bed was comfy. The bathroom had a nice rain forest shower. We were very happy with the room. One note though is that there is no USB outlet for phone charging. Make sure you bring an adapter to charge your phones. We didn't dine at the onsite restaurants, so no comment on them.

The place itself is very small and cozy . It feels very personal and very in the woods . The room we were in was very clean and spacious for 2 people . We got a complimentary honey on our check in and a sweet note for the birthday of my partner. The staff was amazing , since the check in until check out they were so kind and just very enthusiastic to be there . Our 5 course meal at la muse restaurant was unique and with an amazing view if the falls . The food was okay as we are not very big fans of french cuisine but still it was very good we ate everything. The breakfast was simple but filling and very good . Is the perfect staycation if you're from Ottawa or Gatineau. If you're from out of town definitely recommend doing in the summer and stay more than one night so you can really enjoy the small town and some hiking trails in the Gatineau park .

The server seemed to know most of the customers, no doubt locals (who probably wouldn't appreciate me advertising how good this place is). It's situated on top of the store and there's a small little 'boutique' next to the cafe. They also have a patio that must have a great view in the summer. They use the bread from the Wakefield bakery down the street. I had the best grilled cheese in the world there. The store down below also sells bread from the bakery and they sell savory pies that I've never tried but look quite good.

Service was pretty good and the facilities were clean. I had a "Steve Burger" with a Caesar salad (I uploaded a picture of this too) and it was pretty good. The burger had onions and bread crumbs in the patty, which I know is a deal breaker for a lot of people, but it was a pretty good burger and I had no issue with that. The Caesar was good and had lots of cheese. Everyone else was relatively happy with their lunch: another "Steve Burger," a salmon burger, and a goat-cheese, chicken pizza. I had a bottle of beer with my lunch, but someone at my table opted to have water. I have had well-water before and I have had softened water, and this was salty, softened water. I took a sip and it was really salty. I get that it is what comes out of the tap, but if your water is that salty, you should be serving bottled water or have a more sophisticated filtration system. My table-mate asked for iced-tea or lemonade, but they were out. So, overall, it was a nice lunch, nothing spectacular, but who knows how much sodium I had if the food was made with salty water. My recommendation - get a beer, I guess.
